Chapter 177
Nathan’s POV
I stared at the border reports spread across my desk, barely registering Tyler entering my office.
My mind was elsewhere, calculating strategies, planning counterattacks–anything to distract me from what would happen in thirty minutes.
Alpha, the wedding starts in half an hour. Shouldn’t you be getting ready?” Tyler’s voice broke the silence.
Without looking up, I replied coldly, “I am ready.”
Tyler placed a meticulously selected suit on my bed–a white silk shirt, black tailed coat with gold wolf–shaped cufflinks bearing the Ironjaw pack emblem. One glance was enough. I felt nothing but disgust for the ridiculous outfit.
Setting down the reports, I fixed my Beta with a hard stare. “Did I say I would change?”
This might be Madison’s wedding day, but as the groom, I felt more like a prisoner being led to execution. The air in the room was heavy with tension, lar the calm before a storm.
Tyler leaned against the oak table across the room. He was already dressed in a similar suit as my best man, but his expression was complicated. “I can’t believe you’re actually going through with this wedding.”
I stood and walked to the window, looking into the distance as if searching for something. “It has to be done. You know that better than anyone.”
Tyler nodded. “I do know. And I’ll stand by you, no matter what.”
I turned to face him, meeting his eyes directly. “I appreciate that.” For a brief moment, a rare warmth flickered in the depths of my cold gray eyes.
Tyler turned away, uncomfortable with my unexpected kindness.
He cleared his throat and began sharing news about Madison. “David accompanied Madison to the best dress shop in town. The shop was closed, but Madison forced the owner to open for her. She spent five hours choosing the right dress and insisted on immediate alterations, even though the owner said it would take all night.”
My expression grew even colder. I’d already heard similar reports: Madison was being more horrible than usual, screaming orders at everyone and making unreasonable demands.
Compared to Madison’s brashness and sharp edges, Rachel’s kindness is more like a clear spring – it doesn’t need to show off, yet it soothes the heart with its gentle, steady flow. This kind of gentle strength is what truly moves me.
Rachel…I miss her.
“Worse yet,” Tyler continued, “when the shop owner begged to go home to feed her newborn baby, Madison coldly replied, ‘The sooner you finish, the sooner you can go home, so focus. David eventually had to send someone to bring the baby, which led to a confrontation with Madison’s guards before the woman could feed her child in the middle of the night.”
I’d heard about Madison’s behavior during wedding preparations–waking jewelers in the middle of the night to try on necklaces and earrings, making a mess in shoe stores looking for perfect heels, cutting down half the royal garden for the perfect bouquet only to reject what was delivered.
I silently cursed, dreading seeing her fake face today.
Tyler noticed my disgust and said quietly, “The residents of Emerald City are grateful you only gave her two days. At least she only had two days to terrorize
them.”
“Just for that,” I responded coldly.
Tyler couldn’t help laughing. “Is that right? Did Alpha Nathan just make a joke?”
I didn’t look at him. “If it’s the truth, it’s not a joke.” My voice remained low and cold.

Chapter 177
I wasn’t in the mood for jokes, nor did I want to numb myself with alcohol like my Beta, though I might need some to face what was coming
The elderly man in charge of my attire bowed slightly. “Alpha, how may I serve you?”
I dismissed them with a cold wave. “You can’t.”
They exchanged glances, quickly leaving the room.
After they left, I walked to the closet and pulled out a simple black suit. As I put it on, I headed toward the door. “Let’s get this over with. Tyler nodded and followed me.
I arrived at the wedding altar set up in the royal garden and took my position. Madison had insisted on holding the wedding in the royal garden, where flowers bloomed and fragrance filled the air.
The altar featured an arch inlaid with gold thread and pearls, surrounded by countless white and gold flowers, but I paid no attention to these luxurious details.
I just wanted to end this farce as quickly as possible.
King Jason and Queen Elizabeth sat in the front row, on the left side of the aisle on my side. I nodded respectfully to them with Tyler.
The priest standing beside me signaled the musicians, and music filled the air.
Victoria walked down the red carpet first with a forced smile, reluctantly serving as Madison’s bridesmaid only to support me.
Behind her were several children I didn’t recognize. A little girl scattered flower petals, and then all the guests stood to welcome the bride.
Raymond walked down the red carpet with Madison on his arm. She wore an elaborate wedding dress that looked like something from a fairy tale. The white skirt was so wide it barely fit down the aisle.
The bodice was encrusted with jewels–almost real diamonds–and the revealing design barely covered her chest.
The jewelry around her neck and ears was also diamond, massive gems glittering in the sunlight making her look like a walking treasure vault.
Clearly, Madison wanted this day to be unforgettable for everyone.
Yes, it will be a day no one can forget… I laughed coldly in my mind.
When they reached the front of the red carpet, Madison started crying dramatically.
“Who gives this woman to this Alpha?” the priest asked solemnly.
‘I, Alpha Raymond, her father answered proudly. Then he kissed her cheek and sat in his seat on the bride’s side, a victorious smile on his face.
Madison stood beside me, handed her bouquet to Victoria, and gripped my hand tightly. She smiled sweetly at me while I fought the nausea rising in my stomach.
Everything about this woman repulsed me. Looking at her, I thought of all the terrible things she’d done, all the crimes she thought she’d gotten away with, and the victory she thought she’d won.
‘Madison, do you take Alpha Nathan to be your husband?” the priest asked, facing her.
Madison leaned toward me with a coquettish voice, ‘I do–forever!”
A strong wave of disgust surged in the back of my throat. Now, it was my turn.
The priest turned to me, Alpha Nathan, do you take Madison to be your wife and Luna?*
After hesitating briefly, I answered, “No, 1 don’t.”
