Chapter 182
Rachel’s POV
I’d been feeling off all day. At first, 1 dismissed it as the usual discomforts of late pregnancy–the aches, the heaviness, the constant pressure.
But by afternoon, what had started as vague discomfort transformed into rhythmic waves of pain that left me breathless.
I was sitting by the window, watching the ocean waves crash against the shore when a particularly strong cramp seized my abdomen. I gasped, clutching the windowsill to steady myself.
“Selena!” I called out, my voice trembling.
Within moments, Selena rushed into my room, her medical bag already in hand. One look at my face and she knew.
“Let me examine you,” she said calmly, helping me to the bed.
After a quick examination, she confirmed what I’d begun to suspect. “You’re in labor, Rachel.”
“But… I shook my head in disbelief. “It’s not time yet.
Selena’s eyes crinkled with a gentle smile. “Wolf cubs have their own schedule. The Moon Goddess decides when they arrive, not us. Let’s make you more comfortable, then I’ll check how far along you are.”
I nodded and went to the bathroom to change into a loose nightgown while Selena prepared the bed with clean linens and arranged her herbs and instruments.
When I returned, she helped me settle on the bed before checking my progress.
Indeed, your little wolf is eager to see the world,” she confirmed. “Let’s time the contractions and see how frequent they are.”
I nodded, and when the next contraction began, my eyes flickered with a faint green glow.
Hours passed, and the pain intensified. Each contraction now tore through me like fire, making my eyes flash brighter as I screamed.
“Remember your wolf breathing,” Selena coached as I writhed through another contraction. “It’s time to start pushing. Should I notify Carter?”
“No!” I growled, more fiercely than intended. “I don’t want him here Just us.”
Selena looked slightly surprised but nodded. “That’s fine, dear. We she–wolves have been doing this on our own since ancient times.”
“I’m sorry,” I panted, embarrassed by my outburst. “I didn’t mean to snap at you.”
“Are you kidding?” Selena laughed. “You’re giving birth to an Alpha’s cub! I’ve seen Lunas fully shift during labor. Now, remember the ancient wolf birthing position I taught you?”
With Selena’s guidance, I positioned myself, pushing when instructed. She chanted Moon Goddess blessings under her breath and encouraged me through each wave of pain.
The labor progressed slowly. My hair was soaked with sweat, plastered to my neck and shoulders. Despite the open window letting in the sea breeze, I felt like the Alpha blood in me was burning from the inside out.
I caught a glimpse of worry in Selena’s eyes. “The little wolf is… stubborn, just like his father. Keep pushing.”
What might have been hours later–everything felt as long and blurry as a wolf pack’s midnight run–a cry like a small wol. atmosphere.
nally broke the tense
“It’s a boy!” Selena announced triumphantly. A strong little Alpha!”

Chapter 182
I was too exhausted to speak, wanting only to hold my baby, to see the face that I knew would resemble Nathan’s.
But suddenly, a searing pain ripped through my abdomen, as if wolf claws were tearing me from inside.
A gush of fluid with a strong scent poured out, nothing like when my water broke earlier.
“We need another doctor, Selena said urgently. “Something’s wrong. And I need to tell Carter.
“What? No, don’t tell Carter,‘ I protested weakly. “Just… help me…”
The pain was excruciating, worse than anything I’d felt before. I could feel my wolf nature and human side fighting each other within me. My vision started flashing red, my skin showing hints of shifting.
I couldn’t help but cry. I missed Nathan so much. I wanted him to hold me…
The baby was placed in a small basket across the room, and I couldn’t even sense his scent anymore. I might have lost consciousness briefly, feeling as if 1 were floating in moonlight.
When I opened my eyes again, another doctor, Edwin Reed, had arrived. I couldn’t make out Edwin and Selena’s conversation clearly, only catching phrases like “Alpha blood” and “rejection” echoing in my mind.
