Chapter 201
Tyler’s POV
Ahh!!!
The scream jolted me awake, tearing through the quiet night like a blade.
My wolf senses prickled with unease, instinctively alert to danger.
I threw on a shirt and pants, not bothering with socks as I shoved my feet into boots and rushed out of my room.
In the hallway, warriors were already running toward the main hall. More screams and cries echoed throughout Emerald City, making my skin crawl.
I caught up to a warrior heading down the grand staircase. “What the hell is happening?” 1 demanded, grabbing his arm.
He looked at me with wide eyes, panting. “The first line of defense for Emerald City has been breached, Beta. They’re closing in.
Just yesterday, patrol units had warned us that Dylan’s army was stationed only a few hundred kilometers from the city.
But this… this couldn’t be happening so quickly.
“That’s impossible,” I muttered, releasing his arm.
We had spent months securing the western border, cutting off supply lines to Dylan’s forces.
There was no way they could have broken through our defenses, let alone approached Emerald City. The first line of defense should have held for at least a week against a major assault.
There was only one explanation that made sense: we had a traitor in our midst..
I sprinted toward the front gates of Emerald City.
Outside, thick plumes of smoke rose into the sky, and villagers were flooding toward the city seeking refuge. The once bright and ornate walls were now stained with the blood of injured civilians.
I had never anticipated war would come so swiftly to our doorstep.
The enemy had broken through all our defenses without warning. In just forty–eight hours, the entire eastern territory had been thrown into unprecedented
chaos.
Making my way through the panicked crowds seeking shelter, I headed for the main hall. Alpha leaders and officials were pouring in, all looking to King Jason for guidance.
SILENCE!” King Jason shouted, his Alpha command instantly quieting those waiting for news.
I bowed my head respectfully to King Jason, who looked exhausted, dark circles under his eyes.
“We just received word from our scouts, he announced grimly. “The western army is only five kilometers away.”
“That’s not possible, I blurted out, echoing my earlier thoughts.
The hall erupted into chaos and arguments.
“How did they get so close?‘ one pack leader demanded.
“You told us they wouldn’t get through,” added a white–haired man. “Nathan assured us he knew what he was doing!”
I scoffed at that. These people had no idea what they were talking about.

Chapter 201
Someone must be helping our enemies, I thought. A spy, right here aniong us. It’s the only explanation.
“ENOUGH!” King Jason shouted again, massaging his temples.
I was thankful to be just a Beta. I couldn’t imagine bearing the burden Jason carried, making decisions that would determine the fate of thousands
Jason sat quietly on his throne while warriors and a white–suited advisor whispered to him.
I noticed how he seemed to be keeping secrets from the other leaders, sharing important information with only these select few. Something felt off.
A young warrior approached the throne. “Your Majesty! There’s a messenger at the gates.”
“From Dylan?” Jason asked.
“Yes, sire. He requests an audience with Your Majesty.”
Jason hesitated before saying, “Bring him in.”
I wondered what Dylan was playing at, sending a messenger now.

The messenger entered the hall a slim man with dark hair and green eyes, covered in dust and coal. He’d clearly traveled far.
He bowed before King Jason. “King Jason, I bring word from King Dylan regarding the war.”
Whispers rippled through the crowd as everyone held their breath, waiting to hear Dylan’s demands.
“Speak, Jason said impatiently.
“Your city is under siege,” the messenger stated. “It’s only a matter of time before we breach
“No, you won’t,” King Jason countered. “Your forces are running out of supplies.”
your walls.
The messenger smiled thinly. “Perhaps you’re right, Your Majesty, but your city has limited food and supplies as well, and you have far more civilians than we have soldiers.”
I had to admit he was right. With so many refugees pouring in, Emerald City was more vulnerable in terms of food and medical resources, and reinforcements were limited.
“However,” the messenger continued, “my king is merciful. He doesn’t wish to see unnecessary bloodshed. In fact, he agrees to end the war, but on one condition.”
