Chapter 322
“Where are you guys heading?” Lucia asked.
Upon hearing Lucia’s voice, Yann finally noticed her, and his gentle gaze instantly turned indifferent. He didn’t speak, but Audrey said, “We’re going on a honeymoon.”
Lucia found this incredible. When Yann and Audrey had planned their wedding, she’d already thought it unnecessary. She believed they were already legal spouses and didn’t need a wedding to prove it–a line Logan had once told her when she married him.
Lucia hadn’t been happy to hear that at the time, but she could only accept it.
Audrey was also on her second marriage and had married into the Winifred family, yet she could have a grand wedding. This made Lucia uncomfortable, let alone the fact that Audrey was going on a honeymoon.
“The honeymoon can be postponed. You should stay home and rest,” Lucia suppressed her jealousy and tried to persuade Audrey to give it up.
“You have a child now—you can’t be as selfish as before. What if something happens on the road? It might not matter if you get hurt, but what about the baby? You’re carrying Yann’s first child,” she continued.
“This is the best time,” Yann walked slowly to Audrey’s side and gently smoothed her hair.
He said, “After the babies are born, we’ll have to take care of them all the time, and then we’ll have to see them through school. By then, Audrey will be old. What’s the point of a honeymoon then?”
Lucia stared at Yann in a daze. His words were exactly what she had thought in her heart.
When she first married George, he had taken on a big project. Honeymoons weren’t very popular back then, so she’d wanted to go shopping for clothes in the big city with George.
George’s mother had praised her as a lucky star, saying she was not only good–looking but also sensible and well–behaved. The flattery had gone to her head, and she’d given up on shopping.
Lucia had gotten pregnant the night of her wedding. George’s mother had then refused to let her go to the big city to see George, citing concerns for her health, and had promised she could go to the beach with George after delivery.
When the baby was born and Lucia was ready to go on vacation, she still had to take care of the newborn.
By the time the child was a bit older and of school age, George’s mother had said Lucia had to help with homework. That was when Lucia realized she’d been deceived.
Unable to vent her pent–up anger, she would quarrel with George every time he came home. Later, she’d secretly taken George’s project funds, abandoned the child, and fled that home. Lucia couldn’t understand why Audrey could perfectly avoid all the hardships she’d endured.
“I’m just looking out for her,” Lucia said, feeling her reasoning wasn’t very convincing. “The holiday season is coming soon, and there will be so many people. What if someone bumps into Audrey?”
“The first pregnancy is extremely important. I have a friend who went fishing with her husband during her first pregnancy, and she had a miscarriage because of the jolt on the road. Since then, she has become infertile. Audrey, why take this risk?” Lucia said.
Audrey smiled and replied, “Don’t worry. We’ve already made plans.”
Before Lucia could say more, Audrey and Yann had gone to the dining room.

Audrey suddenly craved tacos. She mentioned it casually, and Yann bought some back right away. He rolled a taco and handed it to Audrey. She took a bite, her eyes lighting up immediately, and said, “Add more fat.”

Lucia frowned and said, “Eat slowly. You look so vulgar like this.” She pulled out a chair and sat down, saying to Vann, “I can make the tacos for here
The tacos she made were small, with only a dab of sauce inside. In her view, noble ladies should eat with dignity and elegance, not wolf down their food “Let me do it,” Yann continued to take care of Audrey and handed her a glass of corn juice.
Lucia felt awkward. Audrey’s eating manners were too crude, but Yann looked at her tenderly, not finding her sloppy at all. Lucia thought he must be ignoring Audrey’s manners just to ensure she ate more for the baby’s nutrition.
While Yann and Audrey enjoyed their meal, Lucia felt a little resentful.
Her objections were in vain, and the luggage for Audrey and Yann’s honeymoon was already packed.
Back at Winifred Manor, Lucia complained to Logan, “Audrey is pregnant, did you know?”
Logan said, “Yes.”
“You knew?” She suspected that if she hadn’t gone to Hillcrest Gardens today, everyone might have waited until Audrey gave birth to tell her.
Lucia clenched her fists and forced a happy smile. “I went to see her today and just found out. I wanted to share the good news with you, but it turns out you knew earlier than me.”
Logan, wearing glasses and looking at a tablet, said flatly, “Amelia said it’s best to keep the first trimester low–key and tell as few people as possible.”
The smile instantly faded from Lucia’s face. She didn’t understand why Logan would listen to Amelia. Even Amelia had known about Audrey’s pregnancy, while Lucia had been the last to find out.
She’d wanted to ask Logan to stop them from going on the honeymoon, but now she was too angry to say a word. She turned her back on Logan and slept.
The next day, Lucia went to Hillcrest Gardens early in the morning. The servants were already moving luggage.
“Audrey, I thought about it last night. I should come with you. I’m really worried,” Lucia said.
“Don’t worry. A professional team will take excellent care of Audrey,” Amelia’s voice came from behind her.
Lucia nearly tripped over her own feet. She turned around and saw Amelia wearing long white pants and a tunic, a wide–brimmed sun hat on her head.
With several suitcases beside her, Amelia was directing the servants to load them into the car, then she closed the car door firmly. She didn’t seem interested in continuing the conversation with Lucia and walked toward the gate.
Soon, Audrey’s laughter and chatter with others came from inside the house. The laughter was particularly piercing, making Lucia feel extremely embarrassed. She’d thought she was the closest to Audrey, but now she felt completely excluded. Lucia was heartbroken.
Audrey didn’t see Lucia until she reached the car. Looking at the small suitcase in Lucia’s hand, Audrey asked, “Are you coming too?”
Lucia said, “I’m worried about you–”
“Get in the car,” Audrey said.
The surprise came so quickly that Lucia didn’t have time to think. She hurriedly handed her suitcase to the servant and got into the car.
Three sedans set off for the airport together.
Audrey had someone book a flight ticket for Lucia. Lucia looked around but didn’t see Amelia.
Lucia said, “Let the servants handle the checked luggage. Don’t trouble Amelia with this.”
