“You’re the reason I’m stuck living here,” Wyatt roared, lunging at Clayton again.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Valerie had no spare clothes for Lillian, so she removed the wet pants and asked the nurses to change the bedding, Lillian lay alone in the hospital bed, while Valerie, to keep Riley happy, took her shopping again.
When they returned that night, they brought Lillian a leftover, cold spicy taco.
Valerie said while feeding Lillian, “Be grateful there’s food.
“The ones you relied on–Alexa and your sons–won’t care for you. It’s me, the person you hate most, doing it.
“The Patel family owed my father, and now they owe me. Remember my kindness and stop Clayton from divorcing me. No other woman would want that sickly man.”
Lillian disliked spicy food but was starving. She chewed awkwardly as Valerie stuffed the taco into her mouth, giving her sips of water when she couldn’t stand the heat.
That night, Lillian had diarrhea in bed. The stench overwhelmed the ward, forcing nurses to call Wyatt and Clayton. The brothers, just asleep after their fight, were woken again.
The call went to Wyatt. He found a set of Lillian’s clothes, kicking Clayton awake before leaving. Clayton jolted from a nightmare, staring fearfully at Wyatt’s back. “Psychopath,” he mumbled.
Wyatt stayed with Lillian until dawn, then hired a caretaker. The caretaker initially asked for a thousand dollars monthly but doubled it upon learning of the toileting duties.
After interviewing others, Wyatt found someone willing to do it for nine hundred dollars per month.
“Mom, this person will care for you here,” he said, presenting the caretaker:
Lillian clung to Wyatt’s clothes, refusing to accept being left with a stranger. Though her sons were inconvenient, she was ashamed to lose control of her bodily functions in front of others.
She tried to say “Alexa,” but her words were slurred.
“She’s divorcing me–she won’t come,” Wyatt said.
After Wyatt left, Riley and Valerie arrived. Hearing about the caretaker, Valerie scoffed, “Tony, a government official, raised a daughter with no responsibility. She’s divorcing to avoid caring for Lillian, but they’re still married–she should be here.”
Lillian wept incoherently after hearing what Valerie said, prompting even annoyed wardmates to pity her.
Riley asked, “Why won’t Mom care for Grandma?”
Having thought it over, she agreed with Valerie–Alexa had refused to let her leave out of revenge, wanting Riley to suffer public judgment to Now, she was determined to retaliate.
Riley exchanged a glance with Valerie–no “teaching” needed; the girl was already turning vindictive. They immediately headed for Alexa’s workplace.
These past two days, Yann had taken Audrey sightseeing. They’d taken a yacht out, choosing a calm spot to fish.
Audrey sat in the cabin reviewing documents—The Lunessé skincare line was thriving, split into two tiers. The mid–range products had quickly captured the youth market, while the premium line, influenced by socialites like Amelia, showed early success.

Closing the files, she looked up at Yann on the deck. He wore a loose white shirt, cartoon patterned shorts, and a fisherman’s hat, looking every bit a
commoner.
Hearing her laugh, he turned. “I’ll catch one today,” he said, misinterpreting her smile as mockery for his empty bucket.
Audrey joined him. Yann hurried to offer his chair. “Let me get your sunhat.”
“No need.” She untied her scarf, wrapping it around her head. They shared a smile–then a motorboat approached.
“Audrey!” Lena waved from the bow, wearing a sundress half–pinned under Owen’s seated weight, the fabric billowing in the wind.
“If1 don’t catch anything, it’s her fault,” Yann grumbled. Audrey nodded, “She scared our fish away.”
Soon Lena and Owen boarded. Lena hugged Audrey warmly. “I’ve missed you and the babies.”
She touched Audrey’s belly. “It’s bigger already? So fast?”
Audrey nodded, smiling as she felt her stomach. “I’ve been eating more. The babies are growing quickly, but Sylvie says it’s normal.”
Owen peeked into the empty bucket. “Not one fish?”
“There were some, but your yacht scared them,” Audrey explained.
Lena teased, “Right, the fish fled from the boat. If we hadn’t come, they’d have run from the wind or your ‘love glow. Yann’s never at fault–blame the uncooperative fish.”
Yann shot her a look but stayed silent.
Audrey flicked Lena’s forehead. “Since when do you take an outsider’s side?”
“He’s my bestie, not an outsider.” Lena spun in front of Owen, revealing their matching outfits–her halter dress and his floral shirt shared the same pattern..
They chatted and laughed until sunset, and Yann was still fishless.
Back at their villa, dinner awaited. Impatient Lena dragged Audrey to her room after dropping her bags, eager to show off a gift.
“Try this.” Lean presented a dress.
Lucia frowned. “Lena, Audrey’s pregnant–she doesn’t need many clothes. She’ll outgrow these after the babies. It’s a waste.”
Lena retorted, “Can’t pregnant women be beautiful? Yann can afford it, and I want to spoil her.”
Lucia hurried to add in case Yann would misunderstand her, “I didn’t mean–just don’t want you wasting money.”
Closing the door, Lena gushed, “Audrey, let me tell you-”
