Chapter 254
Vivian exclaimed, “Whoa, what is this? That’s amazing! Is it like Aber?”
Aber was a popular ride–hailing app commonly used abroad.
Maxine nodded with a smile. “Pretty much. But this one actually comes with even more features.”
The designated driver quickly drove toward the villa. Vivian got serious and asked, “Seriously, what happened to you this time? How did you get hurt again?”
Maxine reluctantly recounted the whole story. Hearing this, Vivian snorted coldly and said, “What an ungrateful bastard! Don’t worry, I’m here to back you up this time.”
Vivian playfully winked at Maxine, a sly smile curling her lips. “Guess who sent me to help you?”
Maxine turned her head toward her. Vivian covered her mouth and giggled, “It was Devault! You’ve been in Hatholand for a while, and he was worried you might run into trouble. But you know him, he was too shy to contact you directly. Since I happened to be coming here for vacation, he asked me to check on you.”
Maxine sighed helplessly. “Come on, Vivian, Devault and I are just friends. Besides, he’s got someone he likes, so stop teasing me already.”
“What?” Vivian gasped in shock. “How did I not know?”
Maxine shrugged. “They’re not even a thing, so why would he tell you?”
Vivian gave her a playful wink. “Spill it! Who is it?”
Maxine said flatly, “Your assistant.”
“What?” Vivian’s eyes widened in shock. “You mean Florian?”
To her utter surprise, that honest–faced Devault actually had a thing for her assistant, and he even came out to Maxine about it. “Well, I’ll be damned! He
likes Florian? If he dares to steal my assistant, I’ll personally castrate
Maxine couldn’t help but chuckle. ‘From the looks of it, Devault is probably going to succeed too,‘ she thought to herself.
Vivian grew angrier by the second. Clenching her fists, she muttered, “Damn it! He totally did that on purpose, just to get Florian to stay with him!” With that, she grabbed her phone to book a flight home immediately./
Helplessly amused, Maxine reached out and pressed down on her phone. “Come on, since you’re here, stay and keep me company for a few more days!”
Vivian gave her a helpless look. “You’re playing favorites!” But even as she said that, she still tucked her phone away.
Maxine texted Cleo about Vivian, saying she planned to book a hotel and stay with Vivian, in case Cleo came home and couldn’t find her, and got worried.
Cleo called back right away. “How’s everything on your end? I’ll be back soon. Just let Vivian stay with us for a few days, we really hit it off last time, so
we can catch up.”
Maxine suddenly remembered that when Cleo had visited her overseas, she’d also had a brief chat with Vivian.
“Alright,” Maxine said after a moment’s thought, “As long as it’s not too much trouble for you. Vivian should just stay for about a week.”
After all, she still had work commitments overseas. This trip to Hatholand was just a short vacation.
Cleo tutted. “Come on, what are you talking about? That huge villa feels way too empty with just the two of us. Besides, Vivian’s such a sweetheart, I really like having her around.”

Chapter 254
It was obvious to anyone that Vivian genuinely cared about Maxine. Cleo was also truly grateful to her for looking after Mazine while they were abroad, Their relationship was more like that of a mother and daughter than just friends, and in some ways, it helped mend the wounds Mona Parks had left on
Maxine.
After hanging up the phone, Vivian leaned in with a grin and asked, “So? Did the kiddo say yes?”
Maxine looked surprised. “How’d you know?”
Vivian chuckled slyly. “Hey, I picked up a few words before coming here, you know,” she said. In reality, she’d simply overheard her own name on the other end of the call and put two and two together.
Maxine smiled knowingly, choosing not to call her bluff.
