Chapter 261
Scott reluctantly agreed.
Maxine hung up the phone, turned to Brian sitting on the couch, and said, “I’ve already talked to Scott. He’ll be here soon to take you back to the Mason
residence.”
Hearing her words, Brian stood up and walked over to her. He pitifully squatted down and gently placed his hand on her knee. In a trembling voice, he said, “Mommy, I had a fight with Dad today. He told me to get out. If Scott takes me back, Dad will definitely kick me out again.”
He suddenly shot Maxine a cold, furious glare, mimicking his father’s icy tone as he snapped, “If you keep acting up, get out!”
Then, looking pitiful, he rested his chin on Maxine’s knee and pleaded with puppy–dog eyes, “Mommy, that’s exactly what Dad told me. Please take pity on me!”
Maxine kept a straight face and gave Brian a light tap on the forehead. “Stop the act, Brian. Sebastian would never say something like that,” she told him.
Caught in his act, Brian deflated like a punctured balloon, hanging his head as he mumbled, “Dad didn’t say those exact words, but it was close enough.. If I go back tonight, he’ll definitely kick me out onto the streets.”
Maxine shot him a cold look, took out her phone again, and said, “Then I’ll call Sebastian to let him know.”
Brian quickly jumped up and reached out to stop her. “Mommy, please don’t! I’ll go back, okay?”
The truth was, their argument started because Brian demanded to see Maxine, but Sebastian, acting on her request, refused. Furious, Brian decided to run away from home.
On the road outside Maxine’s villa, Scott got out of the car, leaned against the car door, took out his phone, and called Sebastian.
Scott said, “Hello? Mr. Mason, Ms. Hudson just called me.”
Sebastian sat in his study, glancing at the documents Charles had sent him on his computer. He murmured a quiet response.
He’d seen this coming. Maxine would never agree to let Brian stay there. Only someone with a stubborn streak like him would insist on going anyway.
He was just bringing trouble upon himself.
Scott hesitated for a moment before asking, “So… should I take Mr. Mason back now?”
Sebastian replied, “Bring him back. Just take him straight to his room.”
With that, he hung up. Scott sighed at his phone. The way Sebastian and Brian got along was definitely a bit problematic, but at the end of the day, he was just the hired help.
Scott stretched lazily, then walked up to the villa’s door and knocked.
The door opened to reveal Brian holding his luggage. Maxine couldn’t even be bothered to see him off, using her bad leg as an excuse, so he was leaving exactly as he had arrived.
Scott couldn’t help but feel a twinge of pity for him as he reached out to take his luggage.
Brian kept his little face tense. As he closed the door, he put on a show as if Maxine was deeply concerned about him. He turned and called out behind him, “Mommy, I’m heading out now! I’ll be careful!”
Afraid Maxine wouldn’t even acknowledge him, Brian barely finished speaking before slamming the door shut.
Once he was in the car, Brian finally let go of his tough act, his head drooping in dejection. He murmured softly, “Sorry for making you come get me at this late hour, Scott.“/

Chapter 261
Scott said with a warm smile, “It’s okay.”
At this thought, he marveled inwardly. The Mason family paid him about 10 thousand dollars a month, which was more than his family’s total income.
Plus, they even provided room and board. He couldn’t ask for more.
Scott looked at him gently and said, “Though I don’t know exactly what happened, honestly, I don’t think Ms. Hudson is mad at you.”
