Chapter 32 Marriage Agreement
Her chest tightened, and she quickly pushed the thought aside, turning toward the bathroom without looking back.
When Jessica emerged after freshening up, she heard her son shout with excitement, “Checkmate! I won, I really won this time!”
She stepped into the living room to see Arthur bouncing with joy, while Charles stood calmly beside the chessboard, a slight smile on his face. He didn’t look the least bit defeated-if anything, he had the calm presence of a seasoned general.
As soon as Arthur spotted her, he rushed over, eyes shining. “Mommy! I beat Charles this time!”
“Really? That’s amazing,” Jessica said with a smile.
Arthur puffed out his chest proudly. “I told you I’d win for sure!”
“You shouldn’t get too full of yourself just because you won,” Jessica said, giving his head a gentle tap. A small part of her wondered if Charles might be bothered.
She stole a glance at him-he was as composed as ever, not a trace of annoyance on his face.
Of course, she thought, why would he take a game with a kid so seriously?
“You two keep playing, I’m going to dry my hair,” Jessica said to Charles before heading into the bedroom.
She sat down at the vanity, turned on the hairdryer, and started drying her long hair. But before she could get far, someone appeared behind her. Caught off guard, she felt the hairdryer gently taken from her hand.
Startled, she looked into the mirror and saw Charles standing behind her, calmly holding the dryer as he helped her with her hair.
Flustered, she reached out to take it back. “I can do it myself…
“Don’t move,” he said quietly, but there was a firmness in his voice that left no room for argument.
Jessica sat stiffly, too nervous to shift, allowing him to continue drying her hair.
His long fingers combed gently through the strands, brushing against her skin now and then-and every time, it sent a jolt through her. This was a man who signed off one-hundred-million-dollar deals with those hands. Why was he standing here, drying her hair?
“Done.”
While Jessica was still caught up in her thoughts, Charles had already finished drying her hair.
“Mm… thank you,” she said quietly, her tone more polite than before.
Charles frowned slightly and replied in a low voice, “No need to thank me.”
Then he added, “I need to get back to the office. Can you send me off?”
Right now, she couldn’t say no to anything he asked. Without hesitation, she nodded. “Sure.”

Jessica left her son at home and escorted Charles downstairs.
The car was already waiting, and she followed him to the vehicle, watching as he climbed in.
As she stood outside the car, Charles suddenly called out, “Get in.”
“Huh?” Jessica blinked, confused. She didn’t have any reason to go to the office today.
“There are some things I need to discuss with you,” he said, his intense gaze fixed on her.
Jessica couldn’t help but feel that his expression was unusually serious.
Sitting in the car, confused, she watched as the door was shut. It wasn’t until then that she realized they were alone-just the two of them inside, while the driver and Flint stood outside.
She felt a wave of nervousness. “Mr. Hensley?”
Charles handed her a document. “Sign this.”
Her eyes fell on the paper, and she froze when she saw the bold words, Marriage Agreement!
M
Staring at the handsome man in shock, she couldn’t understand why he was handing her a marriage
agreement.
“Mr. Hensley, I don’t understand what you mean,” she said, her voice shaky as she forced a smile, struggling to grasp the situation.
His expression was enigmatic as he spoke, “The agreement clearly states that I need a wife now, and your child needs a father.”
Jessica had only skimmed the agreement, but she understood its implication-they would marry, but it would be kept a secret, and she would be his nominal wife.
But she still couldn’t grasp why he had chosen her for this.
“Mr. Hensley, my child does need a father, but it doesn’t have to be you specifically.”
“It has to be me,” he interrupted, his voice exuding undeniable authority.
Jessica gave him a puzzled look, her gaze locking with his dark, intense eyes, and then she heard him speak slowly, “Five years ago, at the Royal Hotel.”
The moment he spoke, Jessica felt a sharp tightening in her chest. She fixed her gaze on him, her emotions in turmoil. “You … ”
“I’m the man who spent the night with you at the hotel that night,” he said, calmly offering the answer she had been desperately seeking.
Jessica was left speechless, staring at him in utter disbelief, her eyes wide with shock.
It took her a moment to gather her thoughts. “No … this can’t be true, it can’t be you, how could it … ” She shook her head, unable to accept what he had just revealed.
That night, it was Rhea who had orchestrated everything, and besides, the man in those scandalous photos
wasn’t him at all!

He extended his hand, and in his palm rested an earring. As soon as Jessica saw it, her eyes widened, and she instinctively reached out to take the earring, inspecting it closely.
It was the same earring she had lost that night!
This particular earring had been custom-made by Hugh just for her, with their initials etched into it.
Now, seeing the initials “JH” on the carring, she realized it was undeniably hers.
“How did this earring end up with you?” Her chest tightened, emotions bubbling up, ready to spill over.
Charles remained composed, but the intensity of his gaze as he looked into her eyes was enough to send a shiver down her spine. “I found it on the bed at the hotel.”
Jessica stood frozen, unable to find the words, her eyes wide in shock as her mind went completely blank for a moment.
She was in utter disbelief, trying to process the thought that the man she had been with that night was actually him.
