Chapter 354
Gina’s POV
I sit on the edge of my bed, fingers wrapped around a half–empty bottle of whiskey, my eyes unfocused as the amber liquid burns down my throat.
The alcohol does little to numb the ache that’s taken permanent residence in my chest.
I stare at the floor, memories of Tyler flooding my mind unbidden. His smile, and his very presence, make even the worst days bearable.
“Every time I wanted to give up,” I whisper to the empty room, “it was your face I saw. Your stupid smile that gave me strength to keep going
I gulp from the bottle, embracing the burn. The memory I’ve fought all evening emerges clearly – that night in the tent when nothing else existed.
“Your kiss was so gentle,” I murmur, touching my lips with trembling fingers. “Like a promise. You said someday we’d be in a tent together and not have to be afraid of anything.”
Tears well in my eyes as confusion and pain twist through me. “So why? Why have you barely spoken to me since? Why do you always keep your distance when we’re together?”
My heart shattering all over again. The weeks of Tyler’s careful avoidance, the way he steps back whenever I get too close, the professional mask he wears whenever Nathan is around it’s slowly killing me.
–
I take another burning gulp of whiskey. “Why are you torturing me like this?” I demand of the empty room. “Why kiss me, say those things, then act like nothing happened?”
The alcohol is working now, burning away my inhibitions and igniting my courage. I stand, swaying slightly, my eyes flashing with determination.
“Enough,” I growl. “I’m done with this guessing game and waiting.”
I pace the room, gesturing with the bottle. “If he doesn’t love me, he should just fucking tell me!”
My voice cracks. “And if he does… why won’t he admit it? Is it because of Nathan? Because he’s my brother’s Beta?” I pause, running a hand through my hair. “Rachel knows I like him, and she’s fine with it! Idiot!”
With sudden resolve, I set the bottle down on the nightstand. “Tonight. I’m getting answers tonight.”
The hallway seems to sway as I make my way to Tyler’s room, my fingertips trailing along the wall for balance. My vision blurs slightly, but my determination remains razor–sharp.
Why does he get to occupy my entire heart while I don’t even know what he’s thinking? I wonder, my chest tight with emotion.
When I reach Tyler’s door, I pause, heart hammering against my ribs. Drawing a deep breath, I raise my fist and knock, the sound echoing in the silent corridor.
The door swings open, and there stands Tyler, wearing only loose sleep pants, his muscled chest bare.
The moment I see him, a wave of happiness washes over me. He’s so handsome–I can’t believe I’ve kissed a man this gorgeous. His abs are so defined; I want to reach out and touch them.
His expression shifts from surprise to concern as he takes in my flushed face and glassy eyes.
“Gina? What’s wrong?” he asks, his voice low and careful.

Chapter 384
Tanap back to really, rear spill disot my cheeks as I stare at him, feeling pathetic and brave all at once:
“We need to talk, I manage, my voice shaking. “Now,
Tyler hesitates before stepping aside to let me in. You’re drunk, Gina. We can talk tomorrow
“No! I shake my head fiercely, stumbling forward. “I can’t wait anymore!”
I sway, and Tyler instinctively reaches out to steady me, his warm hands gripping my arms. Just as quickly, he releases me, as if my skin has burned him.
I notice, my suspicions confirmed. “See? That’s exactly what I mean. You can’t even touch me for two seconds.”
Tyler keeps his distance, his posture tense. “Gina, you should sit down.”
“Don’t tell me what to do!” I snap, then immediately soften. “Tyler, please… just tell me the truth. Do you love me or not? Why can’t you just say it?
His expression tightens with pain. “Gina…”
“You kissed me, Tyler.” My voice breaks. “You said someday we’d be together, and then you disappeared from time to time. Was it just a game
to you?”
“It’s complicated,” he says, running a hand through his hair.
“What’s complicated?” I demand, anger flaring. “What’s so complicated about loving someone?”
Tyler paces, looking like a caged animal. “Gina, you’re Nathan’s sister. I’m his Beta-”
“So that’s it? You’re afraid of my brother?” My eyes flash.
He shakes his head. “It’s not just that. You’re young, you have endless possibilities ahead-”
“Don’t use that as an excuse!” I interrupt, stepping closer. “I’m old enough to know what I want. And I want you, Tyler. And you kissed me! We even shared the same damn tent! Are you going to pretend nothing happened now? Is that the kind of jerk you want to be?”
Tyler draws a deep breath, his fingers clenching and unclenching at his sides. “What if I said I do love you? Then what? Nathan would never allow it.”
“Then we don’t tell him until we’re ready,” I press forward. “Rachel already approves, which means Nathan would too!”
Tyler laughs bitterly. “I can’t betray his trust like that.”
Tears stream down my face. “So you’d rather betray me? Betray what’s between us?”
The combined effects of alcohol and emotion make my head spin. I stumble forward, the room tilting around me. Tyler catches me reflexively, pulling me against his chest to keep me from falling.
Suddenly, we’re impossibly close. I can feel the rapid beating of his heart, the warmth of his skin through my thin top, the scent of him flooding my senses.
Tyler’s arms encircle me, neither pulling me closer nor pushing me away, as if he can’t decide which he wants more.
“Gina…” he whispers, his voice rough.
I look up, meeting his gaze directly. “If we both feel the same way…”

Tyler’s eyes darken, his gaze flicking between my eyes and my lips. The dim light of the room casts shadows across his features, highlighting the internal struggle playing out on his face. His breathing quickens, desire and reason at war within him.
“Do you know who I am?” he asks, his voice a low rumble in his chest.
I hold his gaze, unflinching, “Tyler.”
His Adam’s apple bobs as he swallows hard. “Are you ready to be with me?”
My heart thunders in my chest. I nod fiercely, a teasi
smile curving my lips. “God, yes.”
