Chapter 381
KESTER
Saint insisted we wait for his signal, but it was taking too fucking long.”
What if Kasmine gets hurt before we move?
Brie kept emphasising that Saint was never wrong
Said they had someone on the inside, who’d give us the exact go–ahead.
She kept repeating one damn word like a preacher
a
doomsday sermon:
Timing.
Timing.
Timing.
She said Saint’s timing was everything. Not a second before, not a second after.
Okay. Okay, I calmed the fuck down.
She finally announced that we had sixty more seconds to go in.
My heart kicked into a full–on panic sprint. Norlan patted my back for emotional support. I wish that would stop me from combusting on the spot.
But… what the hell was happening?
Why did it seem like hell had just opened way too early? Why were Saint’s men already breaking in through the roofs, windows, everywhere?
What the hell?
“What the fuck is going on?!” I barked, spinning toward Brie. “What happened to Timing? We have thirty more goddamn seconds!” I sneered when I noticed something was terribly wrong.
Brie just muttered a ‘shit“, cocked her rifle, and pushed forward like a fucking terminator, leading her men inside.
Something was definitely wrong. I could bet my balls
on that.
“Alpha gave the order. Just follow,” she said over the sounds of gunshots ringing everywhere around us.
Fuck.
Kasmine.
I ran in with my instincts boiling over.
I knew it. Something was not right.
This wasn’t looking like a rescue mission anymore. This was a fucking warzone.
I let Zeth share control, our rage syncing like clockwork. A loud, thunderous roar tore through my throat.
I gutted down as many men as dared to step in my way with my claws. Saint and his men had guns with bullets made of silver. I could use one if I wanted.
But nah.
Tearing them apart with my bare hands felt too fucking good.

Chapter 381
By the time I barged into the main building, my claws were soaked, dripping hot blood across the floor. But it wasn’t enough, I needed mor
I followed the sound of voices and more shots and kept moving until I stepped right into the center of the damn warzone. It was the kind that made my heart skip several beats.
Shattered glasses, dust, smoke, broken bricks, bodies, all scattered around. My eyes did a quick scan of the bodies scattered around, and relief almost washed me to the floor when I didn’t find Kasmine’s body.
But when I turned my gaze to the far left of the large space, I saw her.
Fuck.
But she wasn’t alone.
Nagel held her by her throat to the fucking wall with a snarl on his face. Saint and Norlan soon joined me, both pointing guns at Nagel while Zeth was already clawing at the edges of my mind, demanding full control. And I almost gave it to him.
My mate looked so weak and pale that my heart shattered by-
looking at her.
God, I thought I had lost my emotions to numbness… They were still fucking there, because everything came flooding in the moment I saw her like that.
Everyone went still. But why did it seem we were here for two different missions? Why was Kyrie, Saint’s Beta, pointing his gun at one of Nagel’s men who was holding a young girl captive? Why did he look like he was ready to throw this whole mission under the bus just to rescue whoever the fuck that girl was?
Saint didn’t take his eyes off Kyrie. His jaw clenched tight enough to snap. “Fucking idiot,” he hissed under his breath.
‘What the fuck is going on? Who is she?” I growled, pointing at the girl in a small black gown that hung barely two inches below her butt cheeks, who Kyrie was seconds away from killing for.
He was silent for a while, his eyes narrowed to slits as he glared at the said girl before replying in one simple sentence.
“She’s my stepsister.”
That was all he had to say to complete the puzzle. When they said they had someone on the inside, they were
referring to
her.
And obviously, Kyrie, in his glorious savior complex, was seconds away from tanking the entire op because he thought she was
in danger.
