Vivian rolled her eyes and said, “Wasn’t that all for you? HQ just emailed me a few days ago asking about it. I hadn’t even replied yet when you got into all this mess.”
Vivian helplessly ruffled Maxine’s hair and said, “What else could I do? You know I love you so much.”
Urban delivered his concluding remarks at the front. As everyone began filing out of the conference room, he turned to Maxine and the others and said, “Wait a moment. There’s something else I need to tell you.” Assuming he was about to discuss important business matters, Dawn quickly gathered her documents and exited the room.
The room fell silent as Urban picked up three black gift bags from the table behind him and handed them to Maxine. “These are some souvenirs I brought back for you,” he said, “Since Maxine mentioned Lisa is in Hatholand recently, I brought an extra one for her.”
Of course, that last part was meant for Vivian.
Though the souvenirs weren’t expensive, it was the thought that counted. Vivian accepted them with delight, beaming as she said, “Thank you!”
Maxine cast a worried glance toward the door and asked, “Have all the company affairs been settled? Are the shareholders still unhappy about anything? And how do you plan to deal with Bradley?”
At the mention of Bradley, Urban’s expression turned scornful. “He only dared to stir up trouble because I wasn’t in the country. But now that forged contracts are involved, even if he doesn’t voluntarily surrender his shares, the other shareholders will naturally force him out.”
After all, most of the shareholders were founding members who had been with Alpite Group since day one. No one wanted to see the company they’d watched grow gradually fall into decline.
At this, Urban’s lips curled into a smirk. “Actually, I really ought to thank Bradley. If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t have discovered so many disloyal elements at headquarters.”
The Secretarial Department was in good shape, thanks to his deliberate arrangements. Most of the staff were new recruits he brought in after taking over Alpite Group. However, this time, the Legal Department did manage to weed out one problematic individual.
Urban looked at Maxine and said, “I’m restructuring the company these days. Could you come by and help out for a few days?”
