Bertha was just about to ask what Marcus’s full name was when her phone suddenly rang. It was a call from an unknown number.
She moved away to take the call. “Hello?”
“Do
you want to divorce Marcus?”
“How did you know? Who are you?”
“You don’t need to know who I am. What matters is that Marcus is now in Los Angeles. He didn’t go on a business trip; he lied to you. If you want to divorce him, you can go to his house or his company to confront
him.”
Then, the person hung up.
Bertha’s eyes widened. Marcus didn’t go on a business trip?!
She quickly called back to ask for more information, but she couldn’t get through. It said the number was invalid.
Bertha’s heart was racing. She didn’t care who the caller was. She just turned around and ran towards the
elevator.
Kason quickly caught up with her.“Ms. Estrada, what’s wrong?”
Bertha answered while pressing the elevator button.
I have something urgent to do.”
‘Can I help?”
‘No, it’s private.”
What about Casper?”
Kason was worried that they couldn’t handle it when Casper suddenly woke up. Things might get serious.
He wasn’t sure if Bertha could calm Casper, but she was their only hope,
So, he wanted to let Bertha stay.
Bertha knew about his worries. She explained.
I’ll tell you my phone number. Give me a call if you need me. I have urgent matters now.”
Bertha quickly told Kason her number.
Her impression of him was pretty good. He always spoke to her politely.
Something occurred to her. She added.
“I’ll send you a prescription later. If Casper suddenly wakes up and you can’t control him, let him take the
medicine. It will work.”
“Okay, thank you very much!”

Kason saved Bertha’s phone number and watched her enter the elevator, without stopping her.
Then, he returned to Casper’s ward.
Marcus sat solemnly next to the sickbed, holding Casper’s small hand tightly.
Kason comforted him.
“Don’t worry. At least for now, everything is fine.”
Marcus swallowed. Not seeing Bertha, he asked, “Where is she?”
“She left in a hurry.”
Marcus’s eyelids lifted.“She left?!”
“Well, she said it was something urgent, and she had to go deal with it.”
Marcus furrowed his brows.

Kason said, “She is a free person. We can’t confine her. Besides, we still need her help and have to respect her. If she holds a grudge, how can you trust her enough to let her help Casper?”
If this were a few days ago, Marcus wouldn’t even care.
But now, he was not sure if Bertha was Casper’s birth mother, and he didn’t know if she could help Casper overcome his psychological shadow.
So, Marcus was feeling pretty complicated.
‘I need a cigarette,” Marcus said as he stood up and left the ward.
