Nemesis 3

Nemesis 3

As I walked through the familiar paths of the pack, it felt as though I had become invisible.

The warm greetings, the friendly waves, the nods of respect—all gone.

Under the glow of the full moon, their faces were clearly lit, but their eyes were cold, distant.

I stumbled forward, body aching with rejection, until a familiar figure came into view—the Healer.

Once, she had treated me with the gentleness of a second mother. Whenever I was sick or injured, she came faster than even my father, healing me with urgency and affection.

But now, her gaze was void of warmth. She looked at me with disgust, like one might look at a rogue.

She didn’t ask how I felt or my wolf.

Her silence said it all.

I had lost everything I thought I belonged to.

Too stunned to speak, I walked on, numb.

The life I’d known for eighteen years was slipping away, piece by piece.

When I returned to my room, I found Cas standing at the doorway.

His young face twisted with hate as he shouted, “Fraud! Liar!”

I ignored him and stepped past, only to find Mia inside, calmly packing my things.

“Pauline,” she said sweetly, her voice edged with venom.

The pain radiating through my body made it hard to breathe.

She glanced at me with no guilt, only satisfaction.

“The Alpha has ordered you to move into the Omega quarters,” she said, brushing her fingers over the new mark on her neck. “This room now belongs to Leon and me.”

She smiled. “After all, I’m the true Alpha’s daughter now. And Leon’s fated mate.”

I stared at the woman who had stolen everything.

“These are my things,” I said, voice cold. “Don’t touch them.”

She laughed softly, picking up my mother’s moonstone necklace, the only thing I truly cherished.

“Yours?” she sneered. “What claim does a mutt like you have over anything?”

I reached out to take it back, but pain lanced through my body, leaving me too weak to stop her.

She dropped the pendant and crushed it under her heel.

My chest clenched. That necklace was the last piece of my mother—now shattered like the rest of my world.

“Get out,” I said, voice low and sharp.

For a moment, Mia hesitated, startled by the look in my eyes. Then she straightened, face full of pride.

“You dare speak to me like that? You’re nothing now. I’m the future Alpha heir. You should show respect.”

I said nothing, only stared at her. My silence made her shift uncomfortably.

Scoffing, she picked up Cas and left. The boy looked back and gave me a cruel little smile.

A child already turned into a monster.

The door slammed shut.

I dropped to my knees and gathered the broken necklace pieces, each shard cutting into my palm.

My wolf whimpered in agony. The pain of Leon’s rejection still burned like wildfire in my chest.

Today had been my first shift ceremony. It was supposed to mark a new beginning, but it had become the worst day of my life.

I collapsed beside my bed, cold sweat soaking my skin.

Unable to stand, I curled up on the floor, trembling and breathless.

I had to leave. I had to disappear before the moonlight faded completely.

Because this place had no room for me anymore and no one left was worth staying for.
