Chapter 6 No Rescue Coming
We returned to the beach where Elsa and the others were.
The girls looked cold and hungry. Their faces were pale, and their spirits clearly lów.
It was obvious they’d had a rough night.
Their lips were dry, and they looked too weak to even move properly.
As we stepped onto their stretch of sand, Lily pressed her chest tightly against my
arm.
With every step we took, I could feel her soft breasts rubbing along my arm.
Lily said gently, “Oh, you girls look hungry… no breakfast?”
Alice shook her head in frustration. “It’s so hard to find food. I managed to pick up a few shells. That’s all we’ve got. Lily, you look pretty good. Did you find anything to eat?”
Lily smiled and nodded. “Mr. Leon was very kind to me. He shared fruit, coconuts, even shellfish and sea snails.”
The girls swallowed hard, their eyes full of longing.
Elsa, besides being hungry, looked absolutely furious.
She shouted, “Lily, you idiot! You actually teamed up with Leon? He’s a murderer! Aren’t you scared of him?”
Lily shrugged. “Not at all. Mr. Leon has been wonderful to me. This morning, he gave me delicious flounder to eat… and even let me drink some milk.”
The naïve Alice frowned. “That’s nonsense! Where would you even get milk on a deserted island?!”
The girl named Hailey whispered something in Alice’s ear.
Alice blushed and muttered, “Oh… that kind of milk…”

Lily smiled. “As a biology researcher, I can tell you–that kind of milk has surprisingly good nutritional value. Too bad you girls won’t be getting any.”
Elsa screamed, “You shameless woman! You sold yourself to that monster just for a bit of food!”
Lily leaned into me, her expression calm. “Sold myself? Oh no, dear Elsa. Your husband is a beast–like an untiring bull. And as for that fierce ‘Damascus scimitar‘ of his… my God, it’s so powerful, I nearly went to heaven from how good it felt.”
Elsa was shaking, her whole body trembling. She glared at me with rage. “Leon, you devil! You think I’ll be jealous just because you brought her here? Please! She’s just one woman–I don’t care!”
Lily smiled. “Elsa, I’m not just a woman. I have a Ph.D. I’m a top–tier academic. You’re just a crude, petty witch.”
She gave me a kiss on the cheek. “Mr. Leon, let’s go. I’m craving some grilled fish.”
I nodded and turned to leave with her.
Behind us, Elsa screamed, “You two shameless freaks! So what if you’ve got grilled fish? The rescue team will be here soon. Then we’ll eat whatever we want!”
Then came the curses. “Leon, you monster! You murderer! Once they get here, I’ll make sure you’re arrested and pay for what you’ve done!”
I stopped and turned back, sneering. “Rescue team? Don’t be stupid. This is Shadow Island–one. of the most mysterious places on Earth. It’s surrounded by storms, volcanoes, reefs. Communications and signals are completely blocked. No rescue team is coming here.”
Elsa looked dazed–like she had no idea what Shadow Island really was.
Of course she didn’t. She’d never believe the rumors anyway.
As we walked away, the girls behind us began whispering and discussing something.
Their ignorance was laughable–and pitiful.
They had no idea how terrifying this island truly was.

On Shadow Island, death was the best possible escape.
We’d gotten about fifty meters away when Elsa suddenly yelled, “Leon! Stop right there!”
She ran after us, speaking in that same demanding tone as always. “Leon, we’re not divorced yet. We’re still legally married! Under federal law, half of everything you have belongs to me. That includes the grilled fish!”
I turned to face her, my voice cold. “You want grilled fish? Why should I give any to a woman who betrayed me?”
Elsa looked at me like I was a stranger.
Back then, I loved my wife deeply. I would’ve given her anything–never once said
- no.
But the woman in front of me now was nothing but a traitor to love. A cheap, pathetic woman.
I said quietly, “Elsa, my dear wife, since the day we married, I’ve treated you like the most important person in my life. I gave you wealth and love–did everything I could to make you happy. And what did you give me in return? Nothing but betrayal and pain.”
Elsa stammered, “But… but you can’t just let me starve!”
I shook my head. “No. You won’t starve. In about thirty hours, you’ll collapse from dehydration. Then you’ll die of thirst. Save your energy. Screaming only makes it happen faster.”
I turned and walked away.
Elsa shouted in panic, “Leon, don’t walk away! You used to love me–why are you like this now?!”
She tried to block my path, but I raised my hand- and slapped her hard across the face.
