Chapter 30 A Line in the Sand
Alice had asked a question that wasn’t easy to answer.
I fell into thought. Was Louis a good man or a bad one?
After arriving on the island, Louis had imprisoned and assaulted Elsa–clearly a criminal act.
But at the same time, his actions had saved Elsa from starving to death.
In her weakened state, Elsa could barely scavenge for food–let alone cooked fish.
Alice whispered gently beside me, “Mr. Leon, I think Louis is really jealous of you. That’s why he’s taking it out on Elsa.”
I nodded.
Of course Louis would be jealous.
If he really had washed up on a barren island, then seeing me here, eating roasted fish and surrounded by beautiful women, must’ve made him feel bitter envy.
But Louis had done a good job keeping his emotions under control.
Around us, he came across as witty and kind.
If we hadn’t stumbled upon his secret with Elsa, we might’ve welcomed him into the group without a second thought.
Suddenly, Alice asked, “Mr. Leon, they were doing anal… does that kind of thing feel good?”
I gave her a light tap on the head. “What are you even thinking about? Come on, let’s get back and talk to the others about what to do with Louis.”
We hurried back to the survivor camp, woke everyone up, and shared everything we’d witnessed.
Faye didn’t seem all that surprised. But she did say that it was best not to accept someone as deceitful as Louis into the group.
Her suggestion was simple: don’t welcome him, but don’t harm him either.
There was still enough food on the island for now. We could coexist peacefully while staying on guard.
After Faye’s proposal, she opened the floor for everyone’s opinion.
This time, we were all on the same page–we agreed to expel Louis.
Faye nodded in approval. “Alright. In that case, it’s settled… Any other questions?”
Alice immediately shot up. “I’ve got one!”
I covered my face, already knowing exactly what this naive girl was about to ask.
Sure enough, she asked loudly, “Louis and Elsa were doing anal. Does that actually feel good?”
The women exchanged looks–and someone actually started explaining.
As a biologist, Lily spoke up: anal sex was a complicated matter.
First, cleanliness was key. If the skin got irritated, it could lead to infection.
Second, proper lubrication was essential. Technically, the anus could accommodate penetration with enough preparation.
Finally, relaxing both body and mind was important. If someone was tense, it would be very uncomfortable.
In a situation like Louis and Elsa’s–forced, violent, and sudden–there was nothing but pain for both sides.
Alice listened intently, her clear eyes fixed on Lily. The way she focused made her seem adorably innocent.
When Lily finally finished, Alice asked curiously, “Miss Lily, do you have any real- life experience with that?”
Lily shook her head in embarrassment. All her knowledge came from books and the internet. No personal experience.
Alice let out a soft, disappointed “oh.”
Just as we were chatting, Louis returned.
Seeing all of us awake, he gave a bitter smile. “Didn’t expect you to catch on so fast, huh?”
Alice was the first to jump out. “That’s right, you big creep! We found out your secret! You snuck off while we were sleeping to assault Elsa!”
Louis shook his head. “Assault? I wouldn’t call it that. Just a natural physical release. I don’t have Mr. Leon’s self–restraint. When I see beautiful women, I feel desire. I want to take them. But to avoid being kicked out, I could only turn to Elsa.”
Gone was the friendly smile. Louis now looked calm, almost too calm–no panic, no fear.
“So?” he said. “What are you going to do with me? Planning to kill me? Let me be clear: I’m not someone you can push around. If you try to kill me, you’d better be ready to get hurt. And on an island like this, getting hurt is as good as dying. So I suggest you think it through.”
I shook my head. “No, we’re not going to kill you. But we can’t live with you either. Louis, you can stay on the island. If you run into trouble, you can still ask us for help. But you can’t stay in the camp. We’ll keep some distance and live separately, peacefully.”
Louis sighed and nodded. “If that’s how it is… then so be it.”
He took a few steps into the dark, then turned back toward me.
“…But Mr. Leon, you’ll regret kicking me out.”
