Chapter 20
DREW’S POV
I practically dragged Becca outside where my bike was parked.
“Let me go,” she fought against my hold.
I could smell Scott’s scent approaching.
“Is everything okay with you two?” Scott asked as he walked up to us.
“No,” Becca said.
“Yes,” I said at the same time she answered.

“What is wrong with you?” she asked me. I let her go then I ran my fingers through my hair and blew out a frustrated breath. Becca smacked me hard in the chest with her palms. “Why did you attack Cody?”
“I took you to a party as my plus one, and what did you do? You tried to make out with my nemesis. You could’ve picked anybody else, Becca.”
“Well, I think Cody is cool, and I will see him again if I want.”
“Like hell you are,” I grunted. I grabbed the helmet and chucked it into her hands. “Put it on. I’m taking you home.”
“I’m not getting on that death trap with you acting like this,” she threw the helmet back at me.
“I said put the damn thing on and let’s go.” I shoved it back into her hands.
“Maybe Becca’s right,” Scott piped in, “maybe you shouldn’t drive her on that motorcycle until you calm down.”
I growled at him. “Stay out of this, Scott. This doesn’t concern you or your pack.”
He stepped back when he saw the look in my eyes.
“Fine, you’re right. But please take care of her,” he said, shifting to her. “It was nice meeting you, Becca, and 1 hope I see you again? He went in for a hug, but when he heard my growl, he pulled back and shook her hand
instead.
“Thank you for being a great host, Scott,” she said with a lopsided smile.
“See you guys later, Scott called as he walked back inside.
It was just me and Becca out in the night, the air crisp and electric. She wasn’t looking at me. She was just standing there with her arms hugging herself while her palms swept her shoulders. I realized she was cold.
I slipped my jacket off. “You’re cold,” I pointed out. “Here. You can borrow my jacket.”

Her eyes snapped to me. Clearly she was Irritated. “No, thank you. I’d rather freeze to death than wear your dirty clothes.”
“Dirty clothes?” I asked.
“I don’t know what kind of juices are on it.”
“Like beer and vodka?”
“No… more like spit and cum,” she mumbled under her breath.
“Excuse me?”
“Let’s just go,” she huffed as she pulled the helmet on her head and fixed the strap. “The faster we get out of here, the quicker I don’t have to look at your face.”
“Why are you mad at me? I’m the one who should be pissed,” I said quietly.
“Can we just go?”
I sighed. “Take the jacket.”
“No. I’m not touching that.”
“Becca… just take the damn jacket. I’m not leaving until you wear it.”
“Urgh!” she let out a frustrated sound. “Fine!” She snatched the jacket from me and angrily threw it on. “There… are you happy now?”
“Ecstatic,” I sneered. “Wait!” I reached over to zip it up to her chin. “That’s better. Now you’ll stay warm while I ride you home.”
She looked at me with her cheeks flushed and I realized I should have chosen better words. She said nothing and waited for me to climb on. Once I was settled, she slid onto the back of the bike.
“Won’t you be cold now?” she asked softly.
“No. I’ll be fine. Just hang on.”
She gripped me tightly as I drove us home. The wind took her scent up front to my nose. She was angry, sad, and somewhat heartbroken.
As soon as the bike stopped at the driveway, she didn’t wait. She slid off the bike and removed the helmet. She placed it on the handle, then stripped the jacket from her back and tossed it at me.
“Here’s your jacket. Thanks for the party. I had fun,” she deadpanned and stormed off.
“Wait! Hold on!” I shouted, but she didn’t stop.
“Becca,” I yelled as I jogged to catch up with her. I grabbed her elbow and yanked her to a halt. She spun around to face me, her eyes seemed so sad.

“What is going on? Please talk to me, because I’m lost. I thought… we sort of bonded tonight,” I said, my voice softer than I intended.
“You are one of them, aren’t you?” she rolled her eyes while she cackled.
‘She knows what we are,‘ Remus gulped in my head.
I exhaled slowly. “One of what?”
“A player,” she replied strained, and I felt a hint of relief. I relaxed my shoulders.
“Why do you think that?”
“I saw you with Mika that night. I saw you and her doing the nasty against the tree. And when I asked you that same night if you had a girlfriend, you told me no. So did you lie to me?”
“No, I didn’t. What Mika and I had was only a few weeks old. It meant nothing to either of us.”
“If that was true, why did she threaten me? Obviously she doesn’t want me near you.”
“Mika doesn’t own me. I can talk to whoever I want.”
“Me too. I can talk to Cody if I want.”
“No. Not him.”
“You don’t get a say in what I do or who I talk to–not after what you did tonight.”
“If you’re talking about me punching Cody in the face, then forget it, I won’t apologize for that.”
“I’m not talking about that.”
“Then what are you talking about? Please, put me out of my misery and tell me.”
“I almost walked in on you and Edith’s little porn session tonight. I saw her with your penis in her mouth.”
Then it hit me. Everything snapped.
“That’s why you’re angry with me?” I choked out.
“I also thought we had a moment while we danced. You told me I was… Beautiful,” she looked down, tone softening.
“And I meant it,” I whispered and she blushed. “Edith and I didn’t do anything. She was drunk, and we had a little mishap with her hair and my pants. She tried to go down on me, but I didn’t let her.”
“You didn’t let her?”
“No.” I pulled her shoulders gently and looked deep into her eyes. They were pooling with tears. “Nothing happened between Edith and me tonight. You’ve got to believe me.”

She searched my eyes for a long moment. Finally, her voice trembled. “I believe you.”
“Good.” I smiled, noticing how bright her eyes were. “Where are your glasses?”
“Oh… they’re right here.” She pulled them from her pocket.
I took them, blew warm air onto them, and wiped them clean with my
shirt.
“Cody thought I looked better without them,” she murmured.

I held the glasses between us. “Close your eyes,” I said gently. She did. I placed the glasses back on. Slowly, she opened her eyes and stared at me like it was the first time she was seeing my face.
“Now I want you to promise me something,” I said as I used my thumb to brush her cheek.
Her heart hammered loudly in my ears.
“What?” she asked.
“I want you to promise me you’ll stay away from Cody.”
