Something hard already hit the back of my head before she could finish her warning. The pain sends a small blooming headache at the back of my head. I turn around to stare at the perpetrator -Amber.
“Is there a problem?” I ask calmly, but my fingers were digging tightly into my palms from trying to hold in my anger. From the corner of my eyes, I could see Lucan watching this and I could tell by the smirk on his face, he was enjoying this. I already prepared for this when I took my mum’s food and gave it to him as an apology to mock him for yesterday. Epic.
Amber walks round me and picks her ball from the ground, “Let’s play.”
I frown, “I’m not interested in playing games with you, get lost.”
She scoffs and her friends chuckles as she points to herself, “Are you talking to me? Get….lost?” It was unbelievable to her that someone would tell her that.
So I hear, that she was from the line of beta’s, Mark’s -Lucan’s beta – cousin. They were all the same. Stinking shithead of wolves. All of them, including the alpha prince, Lucan Drayce.
“I’m trying to be friendly to you, Bora. You are the one who rejected my hand,” her eyes darkened as she raised the ball and threw it towards me.
I don’t know if Amber knows, but I am exceptionally good at handball, if her head ever let her sit down to notice. I tilt my head to the side and the handball swiftly passes, the air making some of my hair blow as it went past me.
Amber gasps and the next thing I hear is a thud on the floor. The ball, probably. I turn, my lips fall wide open. Did the ball just hit Sapphire?
“Sapphire,” I gasp, rushing and kneeling towards her.
“Hey, sir!” Amber screams, raising her hand up, “Bora just threw the ball at Sapphire!”
“What?” My eyes narrows as I got up abruptly, “but you were the one who threw the ball!”
Amber smirks as she folds her hand when the teacher got to us, then she turns to look at her minions, “Who threw the ball?”
“Bora did,” they reply without batting an eyelid.
“Are you guys sure about this?” The teacher asks and they nod. He turns towards Sapphire who was trying to get io from the floor, blood escaping from her nose.
“Sapphire, are you alright?”

“Tell me,” the teacher says, “who threw the ball at you?”

I half expect her to call out my name. ‘Special singled out‘ or whatever they call it did nothing when orphans were being bullied. If she is trying to save herself, I have no problem with her calling out my name. But definitely, not when it is not even up to a week since I resumed. I want to stay out of anything that could potentially trigger the teachers to ask my mom to come to school.
Sapphire looks at me and I sigh, “Amber did, sir.”
I blink, she just said Amber.
The teacher laughs, “Amber? No way.”
“It’s easier for you to believe that I threw the ball and when Amber does, you don’t believe it?” I fire at him, my heart in my chest.
“Hmm,” he clears his throat like I wasn’t even talking to him, “Deborah Ashwyn, follow me.”
“But –”
“Shh. Not a word. Just come with me,” he says and walks away. I sigh deeply, before staring at Sapphire,
“Go to the clinic, you are bleeding a lot.”
“Bye bye,” Amber waves at me with a disgusting smile and I roll my eyes, walking after the teacher.

It’s been thirty minutes since have I have been in this room all by myself, without speaking to anyone. The teacher hadn’t even come back ever since hs dropped me here.
Then suddenly, the door pushes open and I turn to look…he was finally back.
“Deborah?” He calls and I look at him.
“Why did you do that to Sapphire?”
“Why don’t…we talk about why you choose to ignore that fact that it was Amber?” I ask.
He sighs as he pushes his cane away and look at me seriously, “So? What do you expect me to do because it is Amber?”
“You-”
“Amber is from the family of the the Chesters, the beta lineage. You expect me to rise against her and be the saving grace over your head?”
“Isn’t that what adults are for?” I ask, my eyes sharp, “she’s not even an actual beta to any alpha or the alpha’s daughter, and yet you guys fear her so much?”

“We don’t fear her, we fear the family she comes out from.” The teacher says plainly and I grit my teeth. They were truly shameless.
“Enough to treat an innocent person like this?”
“Bora,” he calls out harshly, “the plain truth is that no one would help you. Do you really think that the things that Lucan does are hidden from the school authorities? No. They are not. But he is nice and respectful to the teachers, and carries the school’s image across the world without a single stain.”
“So it’s okay for him to bully other students?”
“As long as the news don’t get out from school, yes.” He points out, outrightly. “And it’s not student, even if one of the teacher was being bullied, the others wouldn’t do anything. I really don’t know what you did to make your name get into the prey list in less than a week, but I would advise you to go to him and resolve the issue. Else, you’d be in for a long ride at school.”
“You are threatening me,” I wasn’t asking him, I was pointing it out.
What did my mom say about adults being responsible for kids lives? I guess that only applies to her and not the others.
“Bora, just apologize to him.”
“I won’t.” I stood up, “I don’t have any reason to,”
“Is that your pride speaking?”
“Yes. It’s my pride and that of my father, who asked me never to bow to anyone that didn’t deserve it. So you see, there are two prides in one and I can’t belittle it by bringing my pride down.”
He looks at me incredulously and I place my hands at my front, “Since I know you know I didn’t do it, I will take it that you are letting me leave. Goodbye…sir,” I say an walk out of the office.
And right there, right at the end of the hallway, Lucan Drayce was waiting for me. I know that from the way his eyes sticks to me after I walk out of the office. And I know, that I’m not stopping to talk to him.
It’s the pride. Blame it on the pride.
I walk right past him.
