Azmaveth walked through the garden of his palace, and the floor of the places he stepped turned ice cold, as he thought about the words of the young dragon.
Could it be that the young dragon was right? Was the reason he was unable to kill the girl that he was interested in the girl?
‘That was not possible…‘ he muttered to himself, a little worried, because he wanted to know that this was the very first time he had ever been interested in anything, not to mention a human girl.
“My lord…” Kalida walked up to him, with a bow, her face remained lowered as she spoke to the emperor; this was how the women of the court spoke to him. He didn’t even have to tell them; they feared him so much that they would rather not look into his eyes.
“What is it, Kalida?” He murmured, a little interested, because he knew that the only reason Kalida was meeting him was because of the feisty princess.
The only thing that brought color to his monochrome world.
“I tried everything to make her stop throwing a tantrum, but she just wouldn’t stop.” She chirped quickly, her voice shaking as she spoke. “She is Your Majesty’s guest, and we can’t touch her without your permission.”
He nodded. Kalida was most thoughtful, since he had given strict orders that no member of the green shade tribe should be harmed or hurt for any reason.
“She requests my presence?” He muttered again, and Kalida dropped to her knees, shaking fearfully.
That was the reason for the meeting in the courtroom, it was disrespectful for a woman of no status or social class to request the presence of their emperor.
“How can I dare bring such news to you?”
“But she requests my presence?” He repeated this time more firmly, showing Kalida he wanted a simple and direct answer. Kalida’s heart pounded in her chest. She was worried, the emperor was an unpredictable man, who knows if this was another test and he would kill her.
She could feel the heat of her surroundings rise abnormally, she could tell the emperor was already getting
angry.
“Y–Yes, my lord.” She choked out, and instantly, her eyes shut tightly, waiting for the unreal moment when her head rolled off her body, she could even taste the blood in her mouth already, but her eyes suddenly flung open when the pressure resting upon her was lifted.
And then she realized that the emperor was long gone, but the fear still lingered in the back of her mind, and it terrified her. She tried to get up, but her legs gave out immediately; the fear had rendered them functionless.
Azmaveth moved with grace towards the Phoenix nest of the Pyreborn palace. This was the first time he strolled towards this wing of his palace, since he had no woman in his harem, he had no reason to come here.

The maids cleared the way as they saw him, bowing their heads as he walked past them, some of them falling on their knees from the pressure he exerted. Getting into the room, the human girl was sitting amid the chaos she had caused, her dark hair unruly and wildly let down, and her green eyes shimmered like the lake of fury.
“I was starting to think you coward wouldn’t show up.” She muttered as she got up from the bed. Azmaveth was silent as he stared around the room in awe. The curtains had been torn into halves, the furniture in the room had been broken, and there was nothing in the room that wasn’t damaged in any way, nothing except her.
For some reason, Azmaveth wasn’t angry or worried; he simply stared at her, his red eyes narrowing, trying to analyze this human girl.
She wasn’t looking around, she wasn’t looking away from him, she was looking directly at him. What was so special about her? Why didn’t he have the same effect as he did on the other women in the palace? She was even more confident than the men in his council.
“Why have you done this?” He asked curiously. “Everything in this room is something worth thousands of gold, and worth more value than even kingdoms, and only the women of the purest noble bloodline are allowed to stay in this nest. So, why have you ruined it?”
“I was told I am the first woman in your harem,” She answered confidently. Natalia was a little worried, even though she was feigning confidence, the moment the emperor stepped into the room all her confidence drained out.
His form was terrifying, and his frame was menacing; he stood way taller than any man she had seen, since he wasn’t even human to begin with, what if he was here to hurt her.
From the small duel they had, she already experienced how strong he was, and he was even giving her the upper hand.
“I told you that I wasn’t going to be your war prisoner,” She continued in a smaller voice, she doesn’t want risk getting killed.
“That was settled, that is why you are in the harem.” He answered with a small frown forming on his face. “You are going to be affiliated with the emperor whether you like it or not.”
“You are saying I have no say in this?” She whispered.
“You lose the duel, princess.” He reminded her. “And we agreed to do whatever I want? Being like this isn’t very honorable of you, princess.”
“The duel was unfair to begin with. How could I have ever won?” she retorted, fire burning in her eyes, and the emperor scoffed. “You had all the advantages, did you ever think I could have won?”
“Then that’s your fault, if you were going to challenge me to a duel, you should have picked something you are sure you would win.” He advised mockingly. “That’s how to fight, it doesn’t have to be a sword fight. But regardless of what happened, I won the duel, and I deserve my reward.”
“I would rather be a slave along with the rest of my people.” She remained adamant. “I can’t and won’t be your plaything.”

“I want you to be my queen instead.” He confessed. “You are in this harem as the first woman the emperor has ever been interested in.”
He took a step forward, and Natalia took at least three steps backwards; she wanted as much as many spaces between them.
“Not every woman gets as lucky as you, princess.”
