Chapter 14
/-Selene-/
“Kaelen!” I screamed as loud as I could as the guards dragged me away.
Elara had won again.
The guards shoved me in like I was an old sack containing dirty clothes.
I landed hard on the floor, and my knees scraped against the rough surface.
My eyes were swollen, I had cried and begged, but Thorne’s mind was made up.
At least I was still alive.

My wrists hurt from where the guards had held me roughly, their dirty claws too had dug into my skin deeper than necessary.
“That’s where you belong,” one of them spat before they shut the metal door against me, leaving me in total darkness.
Reality dawned on me.
I was in a prison. With rogue wolves at that.
A sob escaped my throat before I could choke it back.
If only I had a wolf, she would have kept me company.
Slowly, I crawled to a corner and hugged my knees to my chest.
I could hear voices from the prisoners around me, but I dared not turn to look at them.
I couldn’t afford to see their scary eyes; I had seen enough for the day.
“What did you do, traitor?” One of them said from the shadows.
I didn’t say a word.
Of course there was nothing to say.
My hands trembled violently, and I prayed that whoever or whatever it was didn’t come close to me, but I was
wrong.
Another voice rang out.
“Did you not hear him? “What did you do, and what pack are you from?”
I said nothing still, it would be horrible for me if they knew I was a member of that pack.

They would likely tear me apart.
:
“I think she’s cursed; she looks abnormal, which probably explains why she’s behind bars.”
I bit my lower lip and forced back the tears that threatened to spill out.
My mind drifted to the event that brought me to the prison.

Elara didn’t lie after all, I was no healer, though I never knew those plants were that poisonous.
“Mom,” I whispered. My heart was shattered.
If I were given a choice in the early stage, I would choose not to exist.
“Dumb?” Another rogue asked and began walking towards me.
It took all the courage I could muster not to scream.
He grabbed my hair so tight that I felt as though he was already pulling out strands of my hair.
“Please, I don’t want trouble,” I begged.
He laughed out loud.
“Trouble found you the moment you crossed the door. Have you no idea what this place is before committing whatever it is that you committed, huh?” He pushed me roughly, and fear crept in.
“Stop,” I cried.
I never wanted them to know I was a weak wolf or that I had no wolf at all, but I couldn’t help it. This wolf was so strong as though he had been training for ages.”
“What crime did you commit, you little one!” He shouted.
“I poisoned the Alpha.” The words rolled out of my mouth.
“It wasn’t intentional,” I added, but they had already burst out laughing. I could barely hear myself, not to talk of them who roared in the name of laughter.
“She isn’t innocent after all,” the rogue wolf hissed and raised his hand to hit me, but someone held it just before it landed on me.
“Didn’t you hear her say she does not want a problem?” He growled.
The man bowed and walked away, leaving me and my prison saviour.
“I’m Finn, you?” He stretched out his hand.
“Eleanora,” I whispered. “Thank you.”
“No, it’s fine. But you should learn to be firm and direct sometimes, otherwise these men, I mean these

wolves, will devour you in no time.”
I nodded my head, though my eyes lingered on his.

He had the prettiest pair of eyes I had ever seen, and I didn’t understand why someone who looked so breathtaking could be classified as a rogue wolf.
“Did you really try to poison the Alpha?” He muttered after securing one free bed for me.
He seemed like he was the chairman because he demanded so much respect from them.
I shook my head.
“It wasn’t my intention.”
“It was the only way I felt I could survive. I…..”
I hadn’t completed my statement when one of them began sniffing the air.
“You are a healer?” One of them asked all of a sudden.
I answered quickly.
“No, I’m not. I can’t be.”
“It’s not true,” she insisted. “Can you all not perceive the scent from her? The scent of a healer.”
Another person confirmed it and again, all attention fell on me.
“You are a healer; then how did you get here?”
“No, I’m not,” I insisted after moving a few inches away from her.
“Nonsense!” She growled and pulled a knife from where I didn’t know.
I knew what she wanted.
Maybe to cut herself so I can heal her in seconds.
But I was wrong,
In one swift moment, she dug the knife into my arms and dragged it in such a way that it injured me the
more.
“No,” I screamed as blood gushed out of my palm.
“I’m not a healer!” I cried as I clutched my arm with my left hand.
My prison guardian Finn rushed to me that instant and tried healing me himself, but it wasn’t working.
He looked confused, because all of a sudden he cut himself, but the wounds disappeared as quickly as they

had come.
He tried again with my hand, but nothing changed.
I was losing blood, and I feared I might pass out again.
“Brian!” Finn called.
“Please help; she’s losing her life.”
A rough–looking wolf stepped out and chanted a few words, but it didn’t change anything.
In fact, it worsened the bleeding.
My breath was coming now in shallow gasps, yet there was nothing I could do.
Suddenly Finn stopped and whispered. “Heal yourself; you don’t have much time.”
I stared at my hand for seconds and exhaled deeply.
