Chapter 16
/-Selene-/
“How do I do it?” I asked.
“I mean, how do I heal myself?”

Finn came close. “Just do anything! You might die here if you don’t. No one cares about us; you won’t even be granted the luxury of getting buried.”
“She’s not a healer.”
“She’s no less than a human.”
“Now when a line of chant?”
These and many more were the words I heard from other wolves.
I stared at my bleeding arm and pleaded with the moon goddess to help me.
I was losing life and it was fast.
“Fine then!” I screamed.
“If you are going to let me die this way, so be it!”
I surrendered to fate and sat lazily on the cold ground.
Finn quickly cut part of his clothes and began applying pressure on the wound. Not long after he had tied it completely, the metal door creaked open slowly
“That’s early. Was someone not picked last night?” One of the rogue wolves muttered
I gave Finn the “care to explain” stare.
He arched an eyebrow.
“I can only tell you when you have passed their test.” He looked around to be sure no one was listening to our conversation before he leaned in.
“I know you are not a rogue wolf. Once they find out, they will kill you.”
My eyes widened in horror and cold shivers ran down my spine.
Why was there death wherever I set foot?
The metal door was open completely now, and a guard walked towards me and made to drag me, but Finn stopped him, ignoring the fact that there were over thirty soldiers present.

“Where are you taking her to?” He snarled.
:
“And who are you to ask such a question?” The guard fired.
“Very well then, she won’t leave until you say where you’re carrying her to.”
The guards hesitated and stared intently at Finn.
While they exchanged words, I felt a strange feeling in my chest.
I was so uneasy and restless as though there was something I should have done that I didn’t do.
Again something moved inside me.
I felt it so much, my senses were heightened for some seconds.
“My chest!” I cried and clutched it with both hands. “Something is wrong, I don’t know what it is.”

“The king demands your presence immediately,” another guard said and shot the previous guard a dirty look.
The moment he mentioned the king, the restlessness in my chest ceased.
I stood up quickly
“Let’s go.”
Only then was the main door to the prison opened and I walked out quietly.
As I walked back into the royal house, I kept wondering what I had done this time and if Kaelen was fine.
I heard Thorne’s scream from a distance. –
He didn’t sound like a human one bit.
He growled like an angry beast, and for some seconds I was scared of entering after his guards.
The moment I stepped in, Kaelen heaved a deep sigh of relief, but his relief was cut short when he noticed the tie on my hand.
“She is here,” Elara spat
Thorne turned gently towards me and I froze.
No, not frozen
I almost ran out.
He was bleeding furiously from his eye as though someone had intentionally added real poison to the
concoction.
“Selene!” Thorne shouted.

I stepped closer.
“Can you see my eyes,” he growled.
“I know nothing about it,” I whispered.
“Do something!” He screamed.
I stood still obviously confused.
What do I do?
:
I wasn’t able to heal a deep cut in my hand, so how then could I heal a bleeding eye?

“Why aren’t you moving?” Thorne shouted again, and I was left with no option but to go closer to him.
My hands trembled as I inspected the eye.
Yeah, I knew inspection was the first step, what I didn’t know was the second and third steps.
With shaky hands, I touched his eyes and to my surprise, the bleeding stopped.
My jaw dropped
That of Elara too.
“You can do it,” Kaelen muttered quietly.
“Focus.”
I looked on the tray and behold the bottle of medicine lay there barely used.
I picked it up but Kaelen’s shout scared me.
“No! That’s the drug that caused this.”
I tried to let go of the drug, but my hands were glued to it.
It was as though there were forces that were controlling my whole body.
I wanted to stop
To run away
But at that point, I couldn’t do anything even if I wished to. I raised the bottle and gently emptied its contents into Thorne’s eyes.
As usual, he screamed in pain, but minutes later he sat upright, breathing heavily
Then there was I, who was losing both straight and weight.

I suddenly felt dizzy and light.
:
I concluded within myself that it wasn’t about the drugs; it was me.

Maybe it sounds impossible, but I knew the soft healing Thorne was experiencing was a result of my hand and not the drug
“No.” I muttered to myself.
I needed to overcome whatever this was, but I didn’t even know what it was.
Kaelen caught me quickly before I could get to the ground, and just then, the little material Finn had used in tying up my wound loosened and fell to the ground.
But guess what the shocking thing is.
The wound had disappeared.
I stood for a moment, staring at my healed skin, till the guards came back to escort me to the prison.
“Thorne!” Kaelen called.
I knew he couldn’t disrespect Thorne and release me without his permission, but I could also see the anger brewing up in his chest.
But Thorne had fallen asleep after I had administered the concoction.
The moment I was pushed back into the cell, Finn caught me quickly.
“Are you okay?” I heard him whisper.
“I……my…..”
My eyes were shutting real quick. I was losing consciousness.
“Selene!” I could hear Kaelen scream.
I turned to Finn.
“Please help me. Please, I’m passing out.”
The last words I heard before I passed out completely was,
“She exhausted her powers”
