Chapter 30
/-Selene-/
:
“What’s the problem?” Finn asked when I stayed mute for a few seconds.
I bit my lower lip.
“She gave you the ointment and still told on me, why is that?”
Finn brought out his pin and unlocked the padlock, then signalled me to come in.

“Selene, you should understand that no one there likes you. They are always finding a way to send you away, you should be more surprised that she delivered the ointment.”
“True.” I muttered and sank to the floor beside him.
“Finn,” I muttered.
He raised his head and stared at me.
“You can escape since you can open this door, is it that you’ve never thought of it or….”
Finn smiled.
“It’s impossible to escape the entrance. The guards there sense another blood from miles away. It’s the RavenCrest after all, the goddess blessed them with gifts of different kinds. The only door I can walk through is this, but I will be walking to my death.” He paused. “Enough of me, what happened, did they punish you?”
I shook my head in response, grinning from ear to ear as I drew imaginary lines on the ground with my foot.
“Well,” I stretched the letter L
“We had sex. It was with Kaelen first, but Thorne joined in afterwards.”
“Is that all that has happened in the royal house since? Did Thorne show signs of seeing?”
I furrowed my brow,
Why was he concerned with what was happening in the royal house?
“I doubt he can see. It’s a sickness he was born with,” I lied. Thorne had pleaded with me not to breathe a word of it to anybody.
“Are you sure?” Finn pressed.
“He might be lying.”
I shook my head again

“I don’t think so, because if he could see, no way he would touch me like that in the name of mate bond. His hatred for me supercedes the mate bond.”
Finn kept mute for some seconds, then suddenly blurted
“They touched you and you liked it?” His knuckles turned white as he clenched his fists, rage and jealousy evident in his tone.
“Finn,” I whispered, clearly taken aback.
“They are my mates. They….”
“That’s okay, Selene,” he said softly, interrupting me.
He rubbed a hand through his messy hair.
“I am not supposed to be angry, I have absolutely no right. But look at you, with his clothes, how am I supposed to feel about that?”
I looked down at the oversized hoodie I wore and swallowed hard.
“Finn I didn’t come here to make you feel bad. I came to be sure you were Okay, isn’t that enough risk from my side?”
He said nothing.
I didn’t, either.
The silence that followed was loud.
Just then we began to hear footsteps.
Heavy and fast.
Seconds later, the cell door burst open.
A guard stood by the hallway panting
“That deformed girl, she is here right?”
A desperate whimper escaped my throat.
Finn didn’t flinch; he reacted so quickly, leaving me stunned.
He quickly grabbed his thick coat and wrapped it around me.
I crouched in a darker part of the cell while he blocked me with his broad body.
I shivered at the thought of what the Alphas would do to Finn if they found out I had gone back to him again.
Soon the guard marched in, darting his eyes around and scanning every corner like a hawk.

He paused and stared Finn in the eyes.
“Are you deaf? I said, Is the cursed girl in here?”
“No.”
That was Finn’s flat response.

“If I find out she’s here, I will find you in the next parole, and I will be merciless,” The guard grunted, then walked away.
I stayed in that position, frozen for some time, wondering why they were looking for me.
When the sounds of his boots faded, I heaved a sigh of relief and pulled the coat off.
“I should get going, Finn. I will serve the prisoner’s food soon.”
“Selene,” Finn called and grabbed my arm before I could walk past him.
“Can…..can I at least get a hug?”
Oh, not now! I cried in ‘my head.
His request for innocent, yet heartbreaking.
But I was scared of the mate bond. Kaelen and Thorne might feel it and that will be disastrous for Finn.
“I can’t,” I whispered.
“They would feel it, they would hurt you again.”
“I don’t care Selene. It’s just a hug, I can’t get that?”
“I’m Sorry.”
“Selene.”
He turned around quickly to hide his hurt face from me.
He opened the door and I slipped out, I walked faster than necessary, praying to the goddess not to meet anyone along the way.
I successfully walked back into the royal house and slipped into Kaelen’s chamber through the side door, wishing and praying against all odds that he was still at the meeting.
The Joke was on me.
Doom was right there, seated with his jaws clenched and veins running on his head.
I had never seen him that furious.

Chapter 30
:
“Where are you coming from?” His voice was calm, dangerously calm.
I opened my mouth, but no words were formed.
“With my fucking clothes?” He muttered.
“Where. Did. You. Go? Do not allow me to ask again.”
I still kept mute.
I didn’t know where I got the guts from.
“You weren’t in the prison, where else were you when the whole royal house was in the hall?”
I arched an eyebrow.
“I didn’t know there was a meeting.”

“We are saying the same thing. If you stayed in my room just as I ordered, you would know when the meeting was called. You still want me to repeat my question?”
I was happy.
At least he thought I wasn’t in the prison.
“I went to pray,” The lie bounced off my lips.
“With whom?” He whispered.
“Just me.”
“Selene,” he said, standing and walking closer to me. “You know how much I cherish you?”
I nodded.
I didn’t know though.
“You know I will always vouch for you?”
I swallowed hard waiting for the main question.
“Tell me the truth, what happened to the golden mace?”
“What?” My jaw dropped.
