Chapter 64
Goof
The music just started and everyone is looking at the back door in anticipation of seeing the bride. I’m no different from my seat in the front row but I’m not looking for the bride, I’m looking for the girl that I haven’t seen since early this morning. Silvy came over to her dad’s early to help set up for the wedding. I wanted to help but I had a few things to take care of at the dispensary this morning. Then I had to go to our house to get dressed and clean my kutte. I got to Tony’s a little early to help him and Xavier out but Silvy was up in the room helping Gena so I haven’t seen her yet. I can’t wait.
I did have a rather interesting conversation with Xavier while Tony and Rivet were talking to Viper. I was standing near the alter looking around at the guests and the yard. I only know a few people like Matt because he is the D.J. Ratchet and Erin are here as well. That shocked me. Tony said it was Gena’s idea when she found out Matt had a daughter around Xavier’s age she insisted Matt bring her and Ratchet along hoping the kids would get along and Xavier would have someone to hang out with today. I know they will get along. They are both great kids. But back to the talk I had with Xavier. Xavier walked over to me and grabbed the bottom of my kutte to get my attention. I looked down at him and he says “I need to talk to you.” I nod and lead him over to a few far chairs to give us some privacy just in case but where Tony can still see us if he is looking.
What’s up little man?” I asked. “Are you gonna be my brother soon?” Xavier asks. Wow, not what I was expecting. And I wasn’t sure how to answer him so I asked a follow–up question. “Why do you ask?” Silvy is my sissy, so when you marry her you will be my brother,” he said. I was blown away by what the was saying. “What makes you think I’m going to marry Silvy?” I asked. I am but I want to know how he came up with the idea. “I’m am six not stupid. You look at Silvy like daddy looks at mommy.” Xavier said. No Xavier is defiantly not stupid and if he picked that up he also pays attention. It shouldn’t surprise me considering I believe my nieces and nephews are smarted than me half the time.
And you are having a baby together.” he continued. How did he know I was the baby’s dad? He must be hearing the others talking. That is the only thing that makes sense. “Xavier, just because we are having a baby doesn’t mean we have to get married,” I told him. “I know that. But I see you together. You are already a family. And you love Silvy.” he said. I am not getting anything passed this kid so I’m not going to try. “Xavier, I do love Silvy. And I want to marry her. Someday. But Silvy isn’t ready yet.” I told him. “When she is ready you promise to marry her. And make her smile like daddy does Mommy. And be a good daddy. And you have to promise on your kutte. Daddy says a promise on that can’t be broken.” Xavier said.
Xavier and Tony are right. A promise made on a kutte can’t be broken. We tell the same thing to the club kids. They just don’t know the huge consequences that happen when you break a promise. I bet Xavier doesn’t either. I’m not going to tell him. That’s Tony’s job.” Xavier, mam to man, you have my word on my kutte that I will marry Silvy and I will be the best dad I can be,” I said. ” And then you will be my brother?” he asks. Back to his first question. “Xavier, I don’t have to be married to Silvy to be your brother. I can be your brother right now if you want. Silvy and I are living like a family already. I don’t plan on going anywhere.” I said.
Promise you are staying,” he asked. “On my kutte.” I said. That was good enough for Xavier because he smiled brightly at me and said ” Yes, I would like you to be my brother.” I open my arms to him and he dives in. “I am going to be a good little brother just like I am with Silvy and a good uncle,” Xavier says. “You already are buddy. I am thrilled to call you my little brother.” I said. Xavier pulls back and looks around “I need to talk to Daddy.” I help him down from the chair and stand.” Come on brother. Let’s get you back to your dad and get ready to have your parents get married.” I said holding out my hand to him.
Now I’m sitting with everyone else as the music starts. The door opens and the first thing I see is Silvy’s yellow fabric cover belly coming out the door. The Silvy herself and a proud Xavier by her side. They walk down the short aisle to the platform where Tony and Viper are standing. Xavier, taking his job very seriously helps Silvy up the step to stand on Viper’s side before going to take his place beside a proud–looking Tony. Silvy looked radiant in her yellow dress. I swear she was glowing. My attention is pulled from Silvy when to the door opens again revealing Rivet and Gena. Rivet helps Gena down the aisle to a very happy Tony. I know this is Gena’s wedding day, and she looks very pretty but my Silvy outshines
her.
