Chapter 68
Goof
When Silvy told me she wanted to talk I was thrilled. I know most of the time when a woman wants to talk it isn’t a good thing, but in this case, I know it is. Or I hope so. I believe this talk that she wants to have is Silvy finally opening up to me. She is finally going to let me pass her walls. Well, her final wall. I have moved into her house and slept in her bed every night. We are planning for our baby together. So I know I broke down several walls. There is just more to go and I believe it will be the toughest to break. This one is around her heart and it is holding in some serious hurt.
I couldn’t wait to hear what she had to say. I just had to get through this horribly long weekend. Why were we waiting until the weekend was over? We were on Xavier’s watch so Tony and Gena could have a mini honeymoon. I’m not complaining. I had agreed to it when Silvy brought it up. Not that she needs my permission to have her new brother over for the weekend. But since I have moved in we discuss everything together. And the little dude is my brother too now so of course I wasn’t going to have a problem with it.
Because of Silvy’s work, we had to take shifts with Xavier on Saturday. I had to work at the dispensary for a few hours that morning and Silvy had a shift at the hospital that night. I used my alone time with Xavier to get a very important job done. I took him with me to meet Anna at a local jewelry store. I had asked all the girls for recommendations and the majority agreed this was the best place. Local, family–owned and unique. Just what I needed. Xavier wasn’t thrilled about going to a jewelry store until I explained to him I needed his help picking out an engagement ring for Silvy. Between Xavier, Anna, and the sales lady I believe we picked out the perfect ring. I just need to find the right time to propose to her. If I do it before we talk Silvy will think I am just doing it because she is pregnant. She still hasn’t seen the truth yet.
That I love Silvy with every fiber of my being. She will soon though. The weekend dragged by and today is finally Monday. Silvy had an early shift and was home by one. She texted me she was going to take a short nap and then make a special dinner. She confirmed what time I would be home. So I knew tonight was the night Silvy wanted to talk. By the time I walk up the steps to the front door, I prepare myself for whatever Silvy is going throw at me. Since she has kept quiet until now I know it is something that has hurt her. I know it is going to piss me off and I will want to go after whoever hurt her. I have to put all of that to the side when Silvy talks to me because this is about her, not me.
My job will be as it has always been. To support her, however, she needs. If today she needs me to shut up and listen I will. If she needs me to hold her when she is done. I will. I walk in the front door, take off my kutte and lay it on the back of the couch. I can’t help but smile when I look at it. I think about one of our most recent sexy times on it. It was also the time we agreed that any time we have sex at home all the clothes go. I didn’t like not having skin–to–skin contact with her. I get it the first round was a quickie but we agreed that skin–to–skin as much as possible was mandatory. I was thrilled that we were on the same page. We are most of the time.
I call out even though I can smell she is in the kitchen “Babe, I’m home.” ” Kitchen finishing up dinner. I hope beef stir fry and pork fried rice is alright.” Silvy calls out not knowing I am right behind her at the stove where she is stirring the beef around in a frying pan. I slip my arms around her waist from behind, and place my hands on her belly where our little one is practicing her soccer kicks. Silvy leans into me and I lay my chin on her shoulder. “You know anything you cook is fine with me,” I told her. It is true. I will eat anything she cooks even if it is awful and with a smile on my face. It has never happened but if it does I’m good.
I point to the jar of pickles chips on the counter “Pickles as a side?” I asked. “Optional.” Silvy giggles. The pickles are this week’s craving. Nothing too weird just on the side with her lunch and dinner most of the time if we are having some type of meat. Silvy turns her head to look at me. I lean down and give her a quick peck on her lips. When I pull back Silvy smiles at me. “Welcome home. Why don’t you set the table? Dinner is done.” she said. I pulled away after giving her another quick peck and do as she asked. Silvy sets the food on the table before she gets our drinks. I notice she grabs me a soda and a beer. I look up at her in question as she sits in her seat.” You might need it,” she says.
