He opened the door, “Sleep well. Tomorrow, you start learning what it means to belong to me.” Then he closed it without even looking back again.
KYRIE.
My plans for the morning went to shit the second Saint called.
“Get to the office. Now, Verisola’s a mess.”
Click.
That was it. No fucking regard for the fact that today, I might have had a different plan. One that didn’t include babysitting incompetent project leads or untangling deals Saint didn’t even pretend to
care about.
How did I end up with this asshole as a bestfriend?
My initial plan was to visit Alpha Rollins and have a conversation with Eve.
I could barely sleep a wink all night. The only thing that stopped me from barging into Alpha Rollins‘ house last night was the fact that I respected family time. Apparently, I’m still that guy. The
one who knows where the line is.
And this morning, which was my next chance, Saint happened.
He could summon everyone at the office even on a Sunday morning, just like today. Just because he
feels so.
Fuck him.
Sometimes, I think fate just wants to piss me off.
Fate didn’t want me to talk to Eve. The more reason I strongly believe she was the one from that
night.
Kristen barged in with a pile of files and a face like a lost goat.

“Get the fuck out of here with that,” I snapped before he could say a word. “And take your half–wit energy with you.”
Kristen was a man who would do everything possible to get on my nerves. He had a bunch of disorganized files in his arms and that dumb, confused look on his face.
He’s one of those guys who exists to make things worse. How Saint still keeps him around is beyond me. The guy is a walking liability.
I swear, one of these days I’ll throw him through a glass wall and ask questions later.

He’d rather stick pins in his eyes than admit he has a thing for any woman, let alone make her his

He’s not built for love or loyalty or even basic goddamn affection. The guy is cold steel with a pulse.
And Karashi? She was stupid enough to believe she was the exception.

Saint would die a single man. No offense.

And sometimes I wonder how Karashi manages. I mean… have you met Saint? Have you ever been fucked by a man who doesn’t feel a damn thing?
I’ve watched him with women, and trust me, I wouldn’t want to be a woman if it meant having Saint between my legs.
The guy doesn’t fuck. He punishes. You don’t leave his bed wet. You leave wrecked, bruised, and blank, like something sacred got stripped out of you and thrown in the trash.
I’d rather blow a hole in my own dick than be a woman under Saint.
But Karashi? She fucking lives for it.
She keeps crawling back. Willing to take it over and over again like it’s some sacred offering. Like pain from him is a privilege.
I’d rather he fucks random women who would leave by morning and never return, than keep one
woman by his side. That’s torment for the woman.
But, if that’s what Karashi wants, who am I to stop her fun?
She leaned against my desk, crossing her legs slowly like she wanted to give me a show.
“Not in the mood for your games,” I said flatly, looking her dead in the eyes with disinterest.
She laughed. “Oh, come on. Saint’s not the only one who needs a release.”
I smirked, “I’d rather fuck a meat grinder than touch anything Saint’s dipped into more than once.”
She scoffed. She was used to me and the way I talk. If she took offense every time I opened my mouth, she would’ve quit this building years ago.
She just brushed it off. “Where is Saint?” She asked when she dropped the files on my table.
I shrugged. “Probably balls–deep in some free pussy from the lower block.”
That hit her. She didn’t show it, but I saw the way her jaw tightened. Still, she played it off like she always did.

Chapter 13
$950
“These came in this morning. Urgent proposal from Alpha Kester Hamilton. Real time–sensitive.” She spun on her heels, already walking away like her job was done.
I stood and grabbed my jacket. “I have to be somewhere.”
“But…” She sighed and rolled her sea green eyes, “You’re not even going to look at the file?”
“Saint and Kester? Like oil and water. They don’t mix. That proposal’s going straight to the shredder once Saint sees them.” I scoffed and grabbed my shades.
“God, Kyrie. Your eyes are so fucking beautiful. Why do you always hide them behind those blackout
shades?”
I slid the sunglasses on and tossed her a grin. “Because beautiful things don’t need to be on display. That’s how they stay rare.” I replied, looking into my ringing phone. It was Cole.
That was… strange?
Oh. Perhaps he is calling to tell me the mysterious girl he’d been helping me search for all along was
actually in our pack as we speak.
I shot Karashi a quick look and motioned for her to leave as I answered the call.
“Yes?” I answered, stepping outside my office into the hallway.
“I’ve found her, Kyrie.” He said, and I almost rolled my eyes.
“Of course, you have,” I said flatly.
“And she is in a bad shape,” Cole added, and I halted abruptly.
“What the fuck do you mean?” My heart almost began to race. Was Eve in trouble?
“The same reason we haven’t found her all these months. She was involved in an accident and was admitted to the hospital for eight months now,” he said, and my heart skipped a beat.
“But…” I tried making sense of what he was saying before he spoke again.
“I’m in front of her house right now at Lanry Side. What are your orders?” Cole asked, and for a second, the world stopped tilting.

Chapter 13
First, it wasn’t even Eve after all.
Secondly, Cole had finally found the one woman who had given me sleepless nights for the past
eight months.
I shut my eyes for a second. Everything inside me shifted.
“Send me your location. I’ll be right there.”
