Chapter 17
The chains around her ankles kept her firmly in place a sound I found oddly satisfying. One cuff still secured her right wrist to the headboard. I had instructed Blake, my very trusted guard, to keep an eye on her. I told him to leave her with one free hand.
I wasn’t completely heartless, after all. She could scratch her pretty little itches and wipe her tears.
The chain around her ankle clinked against the bedpost when she scrambled to sit properly. She pulled instinctively, only to wince when the cuff bit into her skin.
“Struggling only makes it worse, sister,” I said, leisurely strolling into the room like I wasn’t the one
who’d shackled her here.
“Please, Alpha… just let me go,” her voice cracked. She sounded too hopeful for her situation. “My Mum… she’ll be looking for me. I need to call her. Please… I swear, I won’t tell anyone about…”
“Your mum,” I cut in, rolling up my sleeves like I was prepping for work. “Is not looking for you, sister. She’s already off screwing my father on some beach she couldn’t afford a month ago. She left the house locked and empty. It’s just us siblings now. You’re all mine now. Sister.”
She froze.
She opened her mouth like she wanted to argue, but I guess the words got stuck in her throat. All I could hear was just that breathy, shaky silence that made me want to grip her throat and dare her to
try swallowing.
Her blue, doe eyes were already gathering so much tears.
Fuck.
I’d do anything to see more tears gathered in those eyes. I could drown a kingdom in them and sleep like a baby after.
Her eyes were so innocent that they made you want to protect her from the world out there. But don’t get deceived. She was EVE after all. Deceptive and manipulative.
I took my time walking closer.
“I… I know… I mean, I didn’t expect…” she trailed off, swallowing hard.

I watched the movement of her throat again. It was so delicate and vulnerable. It made my fingers twitch with the urge to wrap around it and squeeze until that voice turned to silence.
I scoffed quietly.
Silly Saint.
I pulled her phone from my back pocket and tossed it onto the bed. She jumped like I’d thrown a
knife at her.
My eyes caught a glimpse of her bare thighs. Was she fucking doing that on purpose? Exposing
herself for me to see?
I looked away.
I wasn’t moved by such acts.
“I already texted your Mum. She knows you’re with me… Not tied up in my house like the whore you are, though.” I sat on the edge of the bed. “She thinks we are bonding as siblings. She said she’s proud you’re bonding with your new brother.”
I paused and turned to look at her wide eyes, “That’s pathetic, if you ask me… You both were desperate for a new family that much?”
I saw her clench her small fist… Something I could break without even doing much.
“You’re a monster,” she muttered, almost too low to hear.
I let her words settle over me. I liked the way they sounded on her lips.
“You don’t get to label people anymore, Eve,” I said, rising to my feet, towering over her. “You lost that privilege the night you decided to run off like a cheap whore with a souvenir.”
Her head jerked away.
I circled the bed, standing by her side now, my eyes dragging over her. The hem of her nightdress had ridden up again. She tried to tug it down with flushed cheeks.
“Are you doing that on purpose?” I asked flatly.
She blinked back the tears she was just about releasing. “What?”

“Flaunting yourself like this. Maybe hoping I’ll trade your punishment for a good time?” My gaze trailed her exposed thigh. “You’re not that lucky. Or that special.”
“I wasn’t…” she rushed out, clearly horrified. “God, no. I was just…”
“Don’t explain. You’re not very good at it.”
Her mouth snapped shut.
“And, oh. You don’t need to be in a hurry to leave. Your school transfer went through. You have nothing else going on at Lanry Side.”
She looked at me like I’d said I burned down her hometown.
“What?” she whispered, visibly shaking. “You can’t… You can’t just decide that.”
“I already have.”
“I… I don’t want to be here!”
“I didn’t ask for your fucking opinion,” I snapped and it was the first sign of heat in my voice all
night. Then, as quickly as it came, the calm returned. “You’re staying here. You’ll learn your place.
And maybe, if you’re smart, you’ll survive it.”
Tears slipped down her cheeks, but her jaw clenched.
Good. She still had fight in her.
I brought out the keys from my pocket and unhurriedly unlocked the chains on her hand and ankles.
“You’ll be staying in my house for now. Your new stepfather locked his house and left with both the
keys and your slut of a mother.” I said, and I saw the way she visibly flinched.
“Wh…what?” She croaked, “I… I’ll be staying… Here?” She looked around like she had finally realized
she was in hell.
“Would you rather sleep in the streets? You might probable get good paying clients who would be ready to let you spend a few nights in their houses for a token of your pussy.” She lifted her eyes to look at me disapprovingly.
Good.

That got to her.
“I…”
Aha. That looked like a protest about to come alive, but I silenced it.
“Get some rest, Eve. We have a long day tomorrow.”
I paused before stepping out.
“And wear something less tempting. I don’t punish whores for seducing me. I punish them for thinking they could do it twice.”
