CHAPTER 0129

Meadow’s POV

I don’t want you going anywhere without Trip or West escorting you.”

I was seated at the kitchen counter, nursing a cup of coffee. Alaric had just walked into the kitchen, having returned from his morning run. His shirt clung to his body, his shorts sitting low on his hips

I tilted my head, forcing my gaze away from him and trying not to linger too much. Why?I muttered. You worried my sister is gonna hurt ine again?”

That’s not funny.”

I mean, it’s a little bit funny that you’ve been walking on eggshells around me ever since we got back, but okay.”

It had been a day since we returned from Vegas. Alaric had gone straight to work while West drove me home. But I was willing to bet anything that Alaric had his men keeping tabs on me. He was worried that I would go to meet my sister, especially after this new revelation

And I was. Not to talk about himno. That was none of her businessbut to talk about our father

Because if he reached out to me, then he must’ve reached out to her too. But I could tell Alaric was losing his damn mind especially since I didn’t go anywhere yesterday

I hadn’t spoken to anyone since then. Not even Nova. For the whole of yesterday, I just buried myself in school work and briefly conversed with Mel

And when he got back, I avoided him like the plague

That didn’t stop him from watching my every move though

Alaric’s jaw clenched, but he didn’t say a word. He just walked over to the fridge and pulled the door open with more force than necessary

I was going to see Juniper today. I didn’t return her calls, I only sent a simple text back containing the

address of the place I wanted us to meet

I raised my cup to my lips, taking a sip while I watched Alaric gulp down an entire bottle of water like he

had just run a marathon

My mind flashed back to the night we had right before everything blew up in our faces. The club wasI had no words to describe what Alaric and his partner created for people who wanted to explore their kinks and desires without caring what anyone else would think

The way he’d held me, fucked meI was ready to completely submit to him. He already claimed me as

his

But nowa lot of other things had come into play

Forgive me for walking on eggshells around you, Meadow,he said casually after putting the bottle down. But you are the most impulsive, defiant woman I have ever met. And if you won’t talk to me, then there’s nothing I can do except watch you and hope you don’t do something-”

Stupid?I cut in

Reckless.He shot me a glare

I shot him one back, taking a sip of my coffee. Nothing more reckless than getting married to a woman you’re supposed to hate but-”

Enough.Alaric’s voice was deep and low as he slammed his hand down on the counter. A gasp escaped my throat and I nearly jumped out of my skin. You either accept to go with Trip or you don’t, and I’ll have him tail you anyway. Now, you can be pissed at me for however long, but I’m not letting you see your lunatic sister without protection.”

I jumped down from the stool. I can handle myself-”

Yeah, and that went so well last time, didn’t it?”

For a moment, I was frozen. Alaric saw the look on my face and his face fell as well. Meadow, I didn’t

mean-”

Of course, you didn’t,I snapped, letting out a mirthless laugh. You never do.”

He stepped forward, starting to reach for me, but I stepped back before he could touch me. Meadow…

fuck.”

Maybe you think I’m stupid for always going back to my sister, but you could never understand-My voice cracked. Running a hand through my hair, I continued. There’s no use explaining anything to you. I mean, it’s not like you have the best relationship with your brother. He’s practically your punching bag.”

That was low. I knew it but it was nothing but the truth. I could tell that Alaric loved his brother, but clearly, things were always going to be a little tense between them. And I hated to admit, but it was all

because of her

Clarissa

Something flashed in Alaric’s eyes. My brother hates himself, Meadow, because of what he did. And if

punishing him gives him some sort of relief, I’ll do it over and over. But your sister hates you for no damn

reason-”

My sister has every right to hate me, Alaric!I yelled, stepping closer to him. She has every fucking right. And maybe you can forgive your brother for sleeping with the love of your life, but that is nothing compared to what I did-”

Alaric’s nostrils flared and, pinching the bridge of his nose, he lowered his voice

There’s nothing you could have done to deserve the way your sister treats you, Meadow. He reached out to cup my cheek. Nothing.”

For a second, I simply melted into his touch. And then I hated myself for doing it, and I stepped away from him. Alaric’s hand lingered in the air, and his gaze fell to it. He swallowed, slowly curling his fist

He wanted to feel me. So badly. But I wasn’t going to make this easy. For any of us

You’re wrong,I said, my voice shaking. You’re so wrong, you have no idea.”

Meadow-”

Whatever she does to me, it’s because I deserve it.”

And what do you think you did to deserve nearly being raped by your exboyfriend and beat up so hard you had to be taken to the hospital?”

My throat tightened. He knew what he was doing. And J wasn’t going to fall for it

Alaric started to reach for me again but I slapped his hand away, scowling at me. I don’t want you touching me, Alaric. I mean it.”

His gaze narrowed as his tilted his head slightly. And what about everything you said to me at the club? About you wanting me to do to you whatever I wanted?”

I swallowed thickly, feeling the back of my eyelids burn with unshed tears. Well, things change.”

A moment of silence stretched between us beforehe finally spoke again. Will you ever forgive me?His voice was so soft, it hurt my heart. I couldn’t read the expression in his eyes but his jaw was clenched.I’m trying, Meadow. I want things to work between us.”

And so did I.

God. So did I.

But things couldn’t work like this. Not when I would never be able to forget the fact that my father was responsible for what his family went through

I blinked rapidly to stop the tears from flowing, and then, looking away, I wiped my already wet eyes with the back of my palm. I could feel the tension in the air get thicker

When I looked back at him, his fists were tightly curled into the edge of the counterso tight that if he held it any harder, he’d hurt himself without even knowing

I forced my eyes away from the sight, clearing my throat. I’ll go with Trip, like you said.”

The least I could do was give him some peace of mind

3/6

Alaric’s grip loosened only slightly, and I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding. He fixed his dark gaze on me. Good.”

My hand itched to touch him. To cradle his face and tell him that we were going to move past this

But I couldn’t. Because I wasn’t even sure how we were supposed to move past it. At least, not now. How was I going to come to terms with it all

His eyes dropped to my slightly parted lips and he swallowed, darting his gaze back to mine. And my stupid, traitorous eyes decided to do the same and drop to his mouth

Alaric’s lips twitched as he caught me. He scraped his teeth so smoothly along his bottom lip that I had to force my eyes away from those lips of his

And as I did, my eyes slowly moved down his bodyhis jaw, neck, his chest and the black shirt that stretched across it. And the tattoos that swirled down his left arm

Those damn tattoos, his voice, his charisma and everything that made it impossible for me to stay away from him

Want something? My eyes immediately snapped back to his face as his voice cut into my thoughts

Yes. A kiss. No,I snapped

Alaric arched a brow. Stop looking at me like that then, or I’ll be forced to think you do.”

Crossing my arms in front of my chest, I frowned at him. I was only plotting the different ways I could hurt you. But then it occurred to me that depriving you of my touch is enough punishment, isn’t it?”

His eyes hardened. A sense of victory surged through my veins. I won that round

I didn’t wait for his reply before walking out on him

Fallen Summary & Review: Fallen

Meadow Russell arrives at an upscale hotel, heart fluttering with excitement and nerves. She’s about to marry the love of her life, Tyler, in a small, private ceremony — just the two of them. Clutching her bag, she approaches the front desk with a smile. “Hi, I have a reservation. Meadow Russell.”

But from the very first second, something feels off.

The receptionist’s red-painted lips curl into a mocking sneer, and her colleague exchanges a strange look with her. Meadow’s cheerful tone falters as confusion settles in. The woman scoffs, “You’re kidding, right?” The disbelief in her tone makes Meadow’s stomach twist. She frowns, insisting there must be a mistake, but both receptionists continue to look at her with something close to pity — and something else she can’t quite name.

Then comes the shocker.

According to the hotel records, she’s already checked in. Two hours ago. With a man. The receptionist even claims to have spoken with her — complimenting her “cute top.” The same white crop top with the word “BRIDE” written across it that she’s wearing now.

Meadow tries to rationalize it. Maybe Tyler had checked in under her name. Maybe it’s a simple mix-up. She laughs nervously and explains that her fiancé must have done it for convenience. But both receptionists seem unconvinced. One of them finally sighs and hands her a spare keycard, muttering, “I hope you get things sorted out.”

On her way up to the room, Meadow’s heart pounds in her chest. Something feels horribly wrong, but she refuses to believe it. Tyler would never do anything to hurt her. They’ve been planning this wedding for months — their dream elopement. She tries to calm herself, breathing in and out as the elevator ascends, but her hands won’t stop shaking.

When she finally reaches the room and swipes the keycard, her worst fears materialize before her eyes.

The moment the door opens, the sound hits her first — muffled moans, heavy breathing, the rhythmic creak of the bed. Then she sees them.

Her twin sister, Juniper, straddling Tyler, his hands gripping her hips as he thrusts into her without restraint.

The world stops. The bag slips from Meadow’s trembling hands and lands with a soft thud. The scene before her feels like a cruel joke — something ripped out of a nightmare. Her vision blurs with tears, her body frozen in disbelief.

For a full minute, she just stands there. Watching. Waiting. Hoping someone would scream “gotcha” and end this cruel trick.

But there’s no misunderstanding to clear up. No mistake. No illusion.

Her twin sister moans again, whispering, “Yes, that’s it, baby,” as if to drive the knife deeper into Meadow’s heart.

Something inside her shatters.

“Juniper…? Tyler?” she finally manages to whisper, her voice barely recognizable.

They both turn, startled. Tyler’s face twists in shock, then panic. He pushes Juniper off him, stammering, “Meadow, I swear, I thought she was you!”

It’s a pathetic excuse. One that doesn’t even make sense.

Juniper doesn’t even bother covering herself. She just smirks, tossing her messy hair over her shoulder like a queen enjoying the chaos she’s created. “Oh, please,” she scoffs. “It’s time we drop the act. This has been going on for a while.”

Meadow stumbles back, staring between them. “What are you talking about?”

Her twin rolls her eyes. “You really didn’t think he loved you, did you?”

It hits Meadow all at once — the hotel mix-up, the receptionist’s strange looks, the duplicate “Meadow Russell” check-in. Juniper had stolen her identity, her name, her wedding — and the man she loved.

Tyler tries to approach her again, naked and unashamed. He grabs her jaw gently, his expression hard. “You thought I loved you, Meadow? No. Juni’s the love of my life.”

The words pierce like knives.

Every memory — every kiss, every late-night conversation, every promise he made — turns to ash. She had believed in him completely, trusted him with her heart. And all along, he’d been sharing that same intimacy with her twin sister.

Meadow stares at Juniper, still unable to process it. The last time she saw her twin was two years ago. They’d grown apart after Juniper’s endless trail of lies and manipulation had driven a wedge between them. Juniper had always been the beautiful, daring, chaotic one — the one who got what she wanted, no matter who she hurt. But never, not in her darkest thoughts, had Meadow imagined she would do this.

Juniper laughs again, the sound sharp and cruel. “She’s in shock, baby. Maybe we should help her out of her misery,” she says mockingly, then pulls Tyler into another kiss right in front of her.

That’s when Meadow realizes this isn’t a mistake. This isn’t a sudden betrayal. It’s a plan.

Her sister had known exactly what she was doing. She had tracked Meadow down, learned about the wedding, and swooped in like a vulture to destroy what little happiness she had built. The matching outfit, the fake check-in — all of it was deliberate.

The pain turns into rage. Her tears blur her sight, her breath coming out in shaky bursts. Every muscle in her body screams at her to turn around, to run far away from the two people who’ve just ripped her soul apart.

But she doesn’t move.

She stands there, trembling, her heart breaking piece by piece as she watches her sister smirk and her fiancé — her almost-husband — stand there unashamed, not even offering a shred of remorse.

Tyler and Juniper exchange a look, and she realizes — they’re enjoying this. They want her to see. To suffer.

Meadow’s hands ball into fists. She feels like she’s watching her life crumble in real time, and there’s nothing she can do but breathe through the ache and pray she doesn’t collapse.

Every part of her screams that this is the moment she loses everything — her trust, her love, her family.

And yet, deep inside, a spark ignites — not of despair, but of something darker. A promise that this won’t be the end of her story.

Because betrayal that deep doesn’t fade. It carves itself into your bones. And Meadow Russell — heartbroken, humiliated, and hollow — walks out of that hotel room knowing one thing for certain.

She will never forgive them.

And one day, they will both pay for what they’ve done.
