As soon as they arrived at the hospital, Jasmine was rushed into the emergency room. The shock had caused her to miscarry, but fortunately, the pregnancy was still early, so there was no need for a surgical procedure.
When Jasmine woke up, she stared blankly at the wall of the hospital room, lost in thought. Everything that had happened today replayed in her mind like a slideshow, over and over again.
She had been so careful, deliberately choosing a time when Anthony wasn’t home. Why hadn’t she managed to avoid him after all?
She couldn’t understand what she had done wrong to deserve such a difficult life.
After paying the hospital fees, Zachary entered and immediately saw Jasmine’s lifeless expression. He hurried to her side and took her hand.
Jasmine flinched as if startled, but when she saw it was Zachary, she threw herself into his arms, causing the needle in the back of her hand to come loose.
Zachary quickly comforted Jasmine while pressing the nurse call button to have a nurse come and reinsert the IV.
By the time Jasmine had calmed down under Zachary’s soothing, it was already past midnight.
The IV was finished as well, and Zachary spoke up tentatively.
“The police are still outside waiting to take your statement. Jas, are you up for it now?”
Considering that Jasmine had just been through a traumatic experience, the police specially sent two female officers to take her statement.
