Chapter 20

As soon as they arrived at the hospital, Jasmine was rushed into the emergency room. The shock had caused her to miscarry, but fortunately, the pregnancy was still early, so there was no need for a surgical procedure

When Jasmine woke up, she stared blankly at the wall of the hospital room, lost in thought. Everything that had happened today replayed in her mind like a slideshow, over and over again

She had been so careful, deliberately choosing a time when Anthony wasn’t home. Why hadn’t she managed to avoid him after all

She couldn’t understand what she had done wrong to deserve such a difficult life

After paying the hospital fees, Zachary entered and immediately saw Jasmine’s lifeless expression. He hurried to her side and took her hand

Jasmine flinched as if startled, but when she saw it was Zachary, she threw herself into his arms, causing the needle in the back of her hand to come loose

Zachary quickly comforted Jasmine while pressing the nurse call button to have a nurse come and reinsert the IV

By the time Jasmine had calmed down under Zachary’s soothing, it was already past midnight

The IV was finished as well, and Zachary spoke up tentatively

The police are still outside waiting to take your statement. Jas, are you up for it now?”

Considering that Jasmine had just been through a traumatic experience, the police specially sent two female officers to take her statement

I went home today to get my state ID. After I found it, I went back to my room to pack up my things so I could take everything with me. Just as I was about to leave, he came back and suddenly lunged at me…

Alright, keep your phone on. If we have any further questions, we’ll contact you. Get some rest.”

By the time the statement was finished, it was already two or three in the morning. After seeing the police off, Zachary returned to the hospital room to find Jasmine fast asleep

Looking at Jasmine’s sleeping face, Zachary finally breathed a sigh of relief

Although the child was gone, Jasmine was still safe. There would be more children in the future. Right now, the most important thing was Jasmine’s physical and mental health

He quietly stepped out to make a phone call, contacting his roommates to cancel the plan to propose in the classroom the next day. He asked them to help decorate the little home he shared with Jasmine instead. After thanking them again, he hung up

Next, he called his business partners, using memories from his previous life to arrange things and seize opportunities. He wanted to give Jasmine the best life and would protect her no matter what

And then there was the Walsh family. Although he wasn’t strong enough to compete with the Walsh family yet, he believed that with his intelligence and the advantage of his past life, he could bring them down within a year at most

The next morning, Jasmine woke up and saw Zachary sleeping with his head on the edge of her hospital bed. Her heart was filled with gratitude

Zach had saved her

She touched her stomach again. Was there really a little life there just yesterday? It was her fault for not protecting it, which was why it had left

So soon

Why don’t you sleep a little longer?Zachary opened his eyes to see Jasmine touching her stomach, her gaze fixed on him

Zach, our baby is goneAs soon as she finished speaking, Jasmine’s tears began to fall

It’s alright, honey. We’ll have more children in the future. Right now, the most important thing is for you to recover

With that, he leaned forward and gently kissed Jasmine on the forehead

Do you want to go home? To our home

Mm.Jasmine really didn’t want to stay in the hospital. She had never liked hospitals, her father had passed away in one when she was a child

Sensing Jasmine’s unease, Zachary kept comforting her

After completing the discharge procedures and asking the doctor about precautions, Zachary took Jasmine back to their little home
