Chapter 15
Both of them kissed each other fiercely, with no finesse, only forceful
responses.
Just as Marlene was about to run out of breath, Alaric finally let her go. He lowered his head, gazing at the glistening moisture on Marlene’s lips, reddened from the kiss, and gently wiped it away with his hand.
Alaric was a smart man; of course he understood the intention behind Marlene’s actions, but he was still willing to let her use him.
“Marlene, I don’t care about your past. I only care about your future.”
The next second, just as Marlene managed to catch her breath, her lips were sealed again.
But this time, the kiss was less rough, filled instead with tenderness and patience.
Yet in just a few seconds, a figure suddenly appeared before them. Kenyon’s eyes were bloodshot as he raised his fist and landed a heavy punch on the side of Alaric’s face.
He used all his strength in that punch, and the two men instantly became entangled in a brawl.
Kenyon straddled Alaric, grabbing him by the collar, his gaze fierce. “Don’t touch her with your filthy hands!”
Alaric refused to back down. Even with blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, he still managed a mocking smile. “Kenyon, in what capacity are you making demands of me? As my boss, or as Thelma’s husband?”

Chapter 15
Kenyon’s sense of inferiority was laid bare.
Yes, what right did he have to make demands of her? So his anger quickly turned into rudeness.
News of the two men fighting at the hotel entrance quickly spread throughout the banquet. Everyone rushed out to watch the spectacle, and with two men and one woman involved, most people could more or less guess what was going on.
Marlene helped Alaric up from the ground. When she looked at Kenyon in front of her, her gaze was as cold as a blade. “Kenyon, don’t be pathetic.“/
Kenyon was about to speak, but Thelma, who had just arrived, stopped him. He could only watch as Marlene supported Alaric, the two of them walking farther and farther away until their figures disappeared from his sight.
In the hospital, Marlene looked at Alaric’s bruised face, her own filled with guilt. After all, this had all started because of her. “Are you alright? Does it hurt?“!
But Alaric simply grabbed Marlene’s wrist, his gaze earnest. “Marlene, I’ve told you before, you can use me. I’m willing to be used by you.”
“I don’t care about your past. I only care about your future.”
The sincerity in Alaric’s eyes left Marlene with nowhere to hide. Even though she was already twenty–eight and had long since become rational about emotions, she was still moved by the intensity in Alaric’s gaze.
Yes, let the past stay in the past forever. The future is what matters.
The next day, a video of Kenyon fighting at the wedding venue shot up to the trending topics.

Chapter 15
For a while, everyone speculated about the relationships between those involved. When Lawrence heard the news, he was so furious he nearly had a stroke. He found Kenyon and made him kneel in the living room.
With his back bare, Kenyon was whipped again and again, the lashes. tearing his flesh until it was a bloody mess. The pain drained all color from his face.
“I’ll ask you one more time, what are you trying to do?!”
Kenyon supported himself on the floor with both hands, his face deathly pale, but he still stubbornly refused to lower his head even a little. “I said, I want to break off the engagement with the Glyn family…”
Smack!
Another vicious lash landed, and Kenyon collapsed to the ground in pain.
“You really must be insane. Today I’ll beat you to death and pretend I never had a son like you!”
Hearing the commotion, Sheila hurried over. Seeing Kenyon writhing on the ground in agony, nearly fainting, her heart ached terribly. “Good son, just admit your mistake to your father and this will all be over. Be good, don’t make trouble anymore.”
Kenyon had heard words like these all his life.
He had studied finance as his parents wished, taken over the company after earning his master’s degree, and three years later, fully managed the business. Then, as his parents wished, he entered into a marriage alliance and married Thelma.
Step by step, he had never been allowed to make a single mistake, but now he didn’t want to live like this anymore.
With great effort, Kenyon propped himself up, his tone still unyielding. “I
