Aiden holds me close and kisses my sweaty forehead. I feel so safe in his embrace. But just as I’m about to shut my eyes and drift to nothingness the front door slammed, followed by my

mother’s voice. Kids! I’m home!”

I’ve never seen anyone move as quickly as Aiden. Suddenly he’s out from underneath me, his softening penis slipping out. He hurriedly yanks his pants back on and runs out of my bedroom door before I even say a word..

I scramble off bed myself, hastily throwing on clothes. My heart is pounding as I rush down the stairs. I skid to a stop in the living room, where my mom is chatting with Alan. She has her back to me. Alan catches my eye and gives me a secret wink

How was your nap, Ella?Alanasks

EllaPOV

Mom turns around and shoots me a wide loving smile. Ella, sweetheart, I’m not going to be able to stay all night because of the project at work. It’s a massive project, so it’ll definitely

く

Alone With My Twin Stepbrothers

have my attention for the next few days. I just came home to grab some clean clothesshe finishes with a small laugh

OhI feel saddened by the fact that she’s going to be away for so long, but also strangely

relieved

I just gave Alan some money for more food since I know the twins will eat everything we have left in the fridge. She chuckled at her own joke and added, I was afraid you’d starve.”

I cross my arms and roll my eyes playfully. Mom, I won’t starve. Aiden and Alan might be food vacuums but they wouldn’t let me go hungry. If anything they’ve been treating me like a new recruit or something, honestly it’s exhausting being home alone with them”

Alan’s eyes widen as he hears the lie I tell mom. And I smile mischievously

Mom turns to Alan and giggles. It wouldn’t shock me in the least bit if they woke you up at five in the morning to make you jog with them”

Alan shrugs and adds Just trying to keep her in tip tip shape, she’s becoming a couch potato.”

I open my mouth to protest but shut it as soon as Mom turns to me. She smiles at me then turns back to Alan You’re no longer in the Military, so you don’t have to bring that stuff home, you can do stuff normal people your age do instead”

True true,Alan says calmly But we’re still under active duty so we can be called up at any time for service. That’s why we have to stay fit, we’re required to train at least one weekend every monthhe finishes with a smirk

Mom sighs Well you can exercise Just don’t drag Ella into it, I don’t want her getting too muscular. Then her voice reduces to a whisper as if she doesn’t want me to hearYou know most men prefer girls that are soft and delicate”

Mom!I yell

She just laughs it off

We’ll try not to change that about her. But then again, I won’t be letting any guys around her, so I guess it really doesn’t matter in the endAlan says

Mom might see his statement as simple siblings being protective, but I knew it meant way more than that

Mom swats his arm. She’s already nineteen, Alan. My poor Ella is going to grow up to be a spinster. She glances at me with a teasing smile. I hear you have no luck in love because these two scare off any potential boyfriends.”

I let out an exaggerated sigh. And shake my head

Fold Up

And that’s how it should be,Alan says firmly. She needs our protection.”

Alone With My Twin Stepbrothers

Mom shakes her head but lets it go. Alright, alright. Now tell me, is everything okay since

left?”

I’ve been fine, Mom,I assure her

She nods, then glances around. Where’s Aiden?”

My throat goes dry. Uhhe’s in his room. You know how he is. Likes to stay in his own space.”

Mom lets out a soft laugh. He really is like a hermit. She starts heading upstairs. Let me go. grab my clothes, then I’ll be off”

As soon as she disappears, I turn my glare on Alan, but he’s already shaking with silent laughter

Oh, shut up,I mutter, but I can’t help the laugh that bubbles up as well

When Mom is safely upstairs, Alan leans in slightly, lowering

voice. I really hoped Aiden

and you wouldn’t get interrupted. I was just about to come join you guys.”

I shoot him a sharp look

He grins, his dark eyes glinting mischievously and then he winks at me. Damn it.It’s hot

I scoff, crossing my arms. We finished just in time if you must know so thank you for your

concern.”

Joseph King

Joseph King is an American author known for his emotionally compelling storytelling, relatable characters, and themes that revolve around family, identity, and the quiet battles of everyday life. Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Joseph grew up in a modest household where books were as essential as groceries. His mother, a school librarian, often brought home classic novels and contemporary literature, nurturing his love for fiction at an early age. His father, a factory worker, inspired Joseph with his dedication, discipline, and belief that every dream is worth fighting for.

From childhood, Joseph showed a natural talent for writing. He would often spend hours crafting small stories in his notebooks, inspired by the people around him and the world he imagined beyond his window. During high school, he won multiple creative writing awards, setting the foundation for his literary aspirations. He later attended the University of Oregon, majoring in English Literature and Creative Writing. It was during these years that Joseph began shaping his unique voice — one that combines poetic language with raw emotional honesty.

After graduating, Joseph initially worked as a freelance editor and taught creative writing workshops to aspiring writers. His breakthrough came when his debut novel, Beneath the Maple Sky, captivated readers with its touching portrayal of friendship, heartbreak, and healing. The novel quickly gained critical acclaim and was praised for its emotional depth and relatable characters. Since then, Joseph has written multiple bestselling novels, many of which have been translated into international languages and adapted into streaming-platform projects.

Joseph’s writing style is often described as heartfelt, deeply introspective, and powerful in its simplicity. Rather than focusing on fantasy or elaborate plots, he explores human emotions — love, loss, forgiveness, betrayal, and the search for meaning. Through his stories, Joseph highlights that everyone carries pain, everyone fights silent battles, and every person deserves understanding.

Despite his success, Joseph remains grounded. He lives a quiet life in Portland, Oregon, where he continues to write daily. When he is not writing, Joseph enjoys hiking, reading poetry, and spending time at local cafés where he often observes life around him — turning small moments into meaningful stories. His journey from a passionate young storyteller to a renowned novelist serves as an inspiration to young writers around the world, proving that imagination, perseverance, and heart can turn dreams into reality.

1️⃣ Night. Branch. Panic.

Teen hazari raat.
Cold wind.
Drunk girl balancing on a tree branch.

Ella knocks on Aiden’s window, whispering desperately:

“Psst… open up. Please.”

She forgot her house key.
Front door locked.
No courage to wake her mother.
So she chose the one person who always wakes up…

Her disciplined, intimidating stepbrother — Aiden.

2️⃣ Soldier Mode Activated

Lamp clicks on.
Curtains shift.
Aiden appears — tired eyes, rigid posture, military sharpness.

“Ella? It’s 3AM. What the hell are you doing on a tree?”

Before she answers — she slips.
He reacts instantly, pulling her inside with soldier reflexes.

She crashes on the carpet.
He stands over her like a commander.

3️⃣ Anger With Care

Not yelling loudly —
but that controlled military tone that scares more than shouting:

“You could’ve fallen. You could’ve died!”

Ella rubs her bruised shoulder, annoyed:

“Relax, I'm fine…”

Aiden's jaw clenches — frustration, worry, protectiveness all mixed.

4️⃣ A New Aiden

She finally looks at him properly.
Gone is the skinny teenage boy.

Now —
Tall. Broad shoulders. Strong arms.
Stubble. Jawline. Steely gaze.

He looks like someone who’s seen war.
Because he has.

She realizes she doesn’t really know this version of him.

5️⃣ From Annoyance to Uncleared Emotions

He crosses arms, staring down at her:

“You’re nineteen. Still sneaking out like a kid.”

She rolls her eyes:

“I’m an adult.”

He steps closer, voice low:

“Adults remember their house keys.”

She hates that he makes sense.
Hates that he suddenly feels… different.
Older. Scarier. Safer.

Confusing.

6️⃣ Who Were You With?

Aiden's military instincts flare:

“Who drove you back? Where were you?”

Ella avoids eye contact:

“None of your business.”

Wrong answer.

He leans in, voice dangerously quiet:

“If someone hurt you—if someone disrespected you—I need to know.”

Not romantic.
Not intimate.
Just raw protective rage.

Because to him, she’s still a kid he’s sworn to protect.

7️⃣ Old Childhood Dynamics Return

She remembers childhood battles —
annoying pranks, wrestling, teasing, getting chased in hallways.

Only now…
the roles feel heavier.

He isn’t teasing.
He’s warning.

And she suddenly feels small again — stubborn, rebellious, but small.

8️⃣ A Consequence Speech

Instead of anything physical, he gives her a military-style consequence:

“If you sneak out again, you train with me at 5AM. Every day.”

Push-ups. Running. Discipline. Pain.

Ella freezes.

“You’re joking.”

He doesn’t blink.

“Try me.”

9️⃣ Growing Up Hurts

She drops her gaze.
Not because she’s afraid —
but because for the first time, she realizes…

They aren’t kids anymore.

He’s grown into a soldier.
She’s still learning how to be an adult.

And tonight, embarrassment hits harder than the fall.

🔟 A Silent Understanding

Aiden hands her water, calmer now.

“Text me next time. I’ll open the door.”

She mutters:

“Didn’t think you'd care.”

His expression softens — just for a heartbeat.

“I do.”

No flirting.
No touching.
Just heavy, complicated sibling-energy tension.

She walks out of his room with flushed cheeks and a heart she doesn’t fully understand.

And he watches her leave, jaw tight.

Because after two years away, he didn’t expect to feel protective again.
And she didn’t expect him to matter.
