Relived, in part, I stand and tug on my nightgown again. “I need to go,” I say.

It’s already dark out. Ella might worry. I imagine she’s already waiting for me, even without my call.
Hugh pushes himself up to his elbows. “When will I see you again?”
I try to remain calm as I say. “When I need you.”
Grabbing my things out of the closet, I head to the door.
“Wait a bit before you leave,” I say. “I don’t want to be followed.”
Hugh jumps to his feet, closes the distance, and kisses me again, deep and sloppy.
“You were so obedient earlier. Now you are so cold,” Hugo says. “You like playing games with me.” I don’t give an answer. Instead, I break away from him and rush out the door.
