Before the Sunrise Reminds Me Who I Was Supposed to Become by Telion Marex Arlwin 7 Summary
In this tense scene, the protagonist faces suspicion from two other players after a mysterious conversation with the Boss, which led to the death of a man who had shoved the protagonist. The tall guy accuses the protagonist of possibly being an NPC disguised as a player, a tactic known to cause team wipeouts in dungeons. The younger girl, sharing his distrust, silently pulls a gun on the protagonist, demanding answers about their role and relationship with the Boss.
The protagonist tries to defuse the situation by claiming to be the Boss’s wife, citing the suspicious deaths of people connected to them and portraying the Boss as overprotective rather than evil. Despite this, the girl remains skeptical and threatens to shoot, clearly not convinced by the protagonist’s explanations. The protagonist, realizing they have no better defense, attempts to provoke the girl into verifying their story by suggesting she ask the Boss directly.
At that moment, the system announces a new side quest called “The Boss’s Truth,” allowing all surviving players to ask the Boss three questions. The Boss is bound to tell the truth, but players are warned that certain questions, especially those about the Boss’s past life, might provoke a deadly reaction. This development shifts the focus to uncovering the truth through interrogation, setting the stage for further conflict and revelations.

And when you went up to the Boss, a cloud of black mist swallowed our sight. No one knows what you two said. All we know is, after your conversation, the buzz–eut guy who shoved you died.”
The tall guy pressed his advantage, stepping closer.
“I’ve heard in some dungeons, NPCs disguise themselves as players to trick everyone into wiping. Right now, I reasonably suspect you’re one of those NPCs.”
The younger girl didn’t say anything, but her eyes were full of the same wariness and hatred. Quietly, she slipped a hand into her backpack like she was reaching for a weapon.
Crap.
To be honest, listening to the tall guy’s line of reasoning, I couldn’t entirely rule out the NPC possibility either.
Great, no rebuttal available. I tried not to laugh.
The girl pulled a gun out of her bag and pointed it at my head with a dead expression. Her whole vibe turned cold and hard, couldn’t have been farther from the fragile, obedient act she’d pulled earlier.
“From now on, you answer my questions,” she said, voice low.
“First question: what role are you playing in this dungeon? And what is your relationship with the Boss?”
“That’s two questions.” I muttered.
She only tightened her finger on the trigger. I raised my hands fast.
“Don’t shoot, I’ll talk. I’ll talk.” My eyes darted, searching for anything.
“Okay, actually… I’m his wife.”
She snorted like I’d suggested she was an idiot, then aimed the gun like she was about to fire. I scrambled to keep talking.
“Think about it, haven’t most of the deaths involved people connected to me? The buzz–cut guy shoved me; Cheryl betrayed me; Pete led the clique that pushed me aside and said I’d be the first to die. And the yellow–haired guy who died at the start? When we first met, he snuck a pinch of my butt.”
The girl said nothing, but her face loosened a fraction, like maybe my nonsense had a sliver of plausibility. I leaned into it.
“Look, my ‘husband‘ isn’t evil. He’s just overprotective. Obsessed with me, jealous, quick to fly off the handle. The best thing you can do is keep that gun before he turns up. I won’t promise what’ll happen when he gets here.”
She studied me in silence for a long beat, then finally said, “Are you completely insane? Or do you really think I’m dumb enough to buy that pile of lies?”
The chat went wild, replaying that line: ‘Are you completely insane?‘
Okay, I was out of tricks. I’m just a flimsy, pitiful, helpless erotica heroine. No sudden superhuman survival skills kicking in at
the eleventh hour.
I threw up my hands. No point fighting it anymore.
“You don’t believe me? Fine. Ask him yourself later. Let’s see…” I pretended to think. “Why don’t you start with… ‘Did she kiss you yesterday?‘ How about that?”
Right then, the system chimed in again.
