Chapter 167
Tyler’s POV
I arrived at Nathan’s office within minutes of his summons. The tension in his call had. been unmistakable—something had changed.
After checking that we were truly alone, I closed the heavy oak door behind me and engaged
the lock.
Once the door was shut, Nathan said, ‘Rachel made it to Eclipse and survived.”
“Is it true?” I asked immediately, unable to contain myself. “Is Rachel really safe?
Did she actually
escape?*
“Yes,” he said, his voice rough with emotion. “She’s alive.”
Relief flooded through me, making my knees weak. “Mind if I sit down?‘ I gestured toward the leather couch.
Nathan nodded, leaning against his desk while I sank into the soft leather. The weight of weeks of pretending to believe Rachel was dead suddenly lifted from my shoulders.
“She’s with Carter? At Eclipse?” I asked, connecting the dots from what little information I had.
Nathan nodded once, his jaw tight.
“Then why didn’t you bring her back?” The question slipped out before I could stop it,
His shoulders slumped slightly. “Because I fucked everything up.”
I stayed silent, stunned by his admission. Alphas–especially Nathan–rarely acknowledged their mistakes so bluntly.
“It’s Carter, isn’t it?” I prodded carefully.
“That bastard manipulated her,” Nathan snarled, his eyes flashing dangerously. “Made her believe I only wanted to use her.”
I immediately tensed, my protective instincts flaring. “We should send warriors to Eclipse right now and-”
“No,” Nathan cut me off, raising his hand. “Not yet. Trust me, I want her back as soon as possible, but she’s safe there for now.”
I could see the certainty in his eyes—Nathan believed Carter wouldn’t harm Rachel, not when he could use her as leverage against Nathan. The thought made my blood boil.
“Are you okay?” I asked softly. “What happened between you two?”
Nathan shook his head. “What matters now is finding out how Rachel faked her death and escaped Ironjaw pack.”
“You’re saying someone here helped her?” I leaned forward, my mind already racing through possibilities.
‘I don’t know for certain,” he replied, “but she couldn’t have reached Eclipse territory alone.”
I thought carefully, analyzing the players involved. “If Rachel managed to escape, the prime suspects would be Raymond and Madison.”
Nathan nodded. “I don’t think Rachel would accept Raymond’s help, knowing what he wants from her. And I can’t imagine Madison going through all that trouble out of the goodness of her heart.”
“Agreed,‘ I said, remembering something important. “I overheard Madison talking to her maid once. She seemed very certain and pleased about Rachel’s
‘death.”

Nathan’s face darkened at hearing Rachel’s name paired with the word “death,” his knuckles whitening as he clenched his fists.
“We need to find out exactly what Madison did,” he said, his voice dangerously low. “And there’s another Eclipse player we can’t ignore.”

Chapter 167
“Raymond’s Beta–David, right? I guessed.
“Yes. Did you find anything more about him like I asked?”
I nodded, recalling our recent intelligence. “David’s been very active, although we’re not sure how it connects to Rachel. He’s been friendly with King Inson and… I hesitated, uncertain about sharing the next bit.
“And? Nathan prompted.
He’s reportedly been… friendly with several maids,” I continued carefully. “But based on my interactions with him, David doesn’t strike me as someone who constantly needs female attention.”
“What’s your theory?”
I took a deep breath. “I don’t know if this means anything, but one of those maids serves Queen Elizabeth.”
Nathan’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. He rarely interacted with his cousin’s mate, and I knew he viewed her as a gentle, elegant woman who had withdrawn from public life after discovering she couldn’t bear children.
‘I can’t remember the last time I spoke with her,” Nathan mused, frowning. She has no interest in politics, power, or even the war. It’s like her heart died years ago. Why would David approach her?”
