Chapter 195
Nathan’s POV
The tang of blood and mud filled my mouth as I pursued the fleeing enemy warriors through the dense forest.
My massive gray–black wolf form, now matted with dirt and blood, moved with lethal purpose despite the burning pain of torn muscles.
My forces had gained the upper hand, forcing Dylan’s troops into a chaotic retreat, but I wasn’t satisfied with merely winning–I wanted total victory.
I trust myself.
“Tyler, what’s the status?‘ I reached out through our mind link, continuing my relentless chase.
My Beta’s voice filled my mind. “We’ve broken them, Alpha. They’re retreating on all fronts. The remaining forces are scattered and running.”
My jaws parted in a wolfish grin, revealing blood–stained teeth. “Continue the pursuit! Don’t let up now. We’ve got them on the run, and I won’t miss the chance to crush them completely!”
The forest blurred around me as I pushed my powerful legs harder.
My strategy was clear–drive Dylan’s remaining forces toward the coastline where they would have nowhere to go.
I want to provide my people with a peaceful homeland.
“If they surrender, we’ll take prisoners,” I communicated to my commanders. We’re not mindless beasts. They’ll be treated according to their crimes and sent to the Emerald City prison.
But part of me–the primal Alpha part–hoped they would resist.
The taste of blood had awakened something savage within me, a hunger for more combat, more victory.
A familiar scent caught my attention–one of the warriors who had escaped earlier when his companions sacrificed themselves as distractions.
I had already torn out the throat of one of those companions. Now it was this one’s turn.
I accelerated, circling around a thicket of bushes before launching myself through the air. I slammed into the enemy warrior, driving him into a tree trunk.
The impact was brutal–blood immediately trickled from the back of the man’s head where it had struck the bark.
Before the warrior could recover, my mouth closed around his throat, powerful teeth puncturing the carotid artery.
Hot blood gushed into my mouth as the life drained from my enemy. I held on until the body went limp, then released my grip, panting heavily.
“Tyler, update,” I demanded through our link.
“We’re gathering the prisoners now. A few warriors managed to escape, but most have surrendered.*
I stated, “Send our best trackers after those who fled I want every single one of Carter’s warriors who stood against King Jason to pay.
My forces now controlled the border territory that Dylan’s army had previously occupied.
The battle had been decisive, but I knew the war was far from over.
As I stood over my fallen enemy, my thoughts unexpectedly turned to Rachel and our child.
They should still be safely on Vortex Island, far from this bloodshed.

Chapter 195
Yet for the past day or two, I had felt something strange–a pull, as if Rachel were somehow closer.
At first, I had dismissed it as my imagination, but now I was certain.
The connection to my child was drawing me, which could only mean one thing: Rachel must have returned to the Eastern Territories.
Has she discovered Carter’s lies? Is she trying to find her way back to me?
The thought filled me with an urgent desire to find her, to prove Carter’s deception and show her that my feelings were gemine.
But duty held me here for now. I needed to secure the prisoners and consolidate our hold on the newly captured territory until Jason’s commanders arrived to take over.
Only then could I begin a thorough search of the entire territory for my family.
The pull I had felt toward Rachel seemed to fade again, as if she were once more slipping away from me. I growled in frustration.
Why was she running from me? What had Carter told her that made her so afraid?
Later, after shifting back to human form and dressing in clothes brought by my warriors, I was wiping blood from my face when Mia interrupted my thoughts.
E:
“Alpha, I just received intelligence that two women and an infant were seen traveling together. A villager spotted them the day before yesterday. He reported it because he was concerned they might encounter some of the enemy forces we’ve been chasing.”
My heart rate spiked. “Send more warriors to intercept them before anyone can harm them.”
Mia nodded. “They’re heading north, according to reports. They seemed suspicious–moving quickly and trying to avoid notice.”
The northern territories were home to rogue wolves who wouldn’t hesitate to harm a defenseless woman–especially one without a wolf form to protect
herself.
Unease settled in my gut. I needed to find Rachel immediately.
I found Mia and Tyler waiting with a small group of warriors. “I’m heading north, I announced without preamble.
‘Alpha?” Tyler’s expression showed confusion.
“Mia, select five warriors to accompany us. Tyler, you’ll escort the prisoners back to Emerald City. The rest of our forces will continue hunting down any remaining enemies.”
Tyler hesitated only briefly before bowing his head. “Yes… Alpha.”
‘Make sure our warriors get some rest,” I added. “Authorize them to use Carter’s supplies if necessary. Commander Noah has arrived to take command here.”
Within minutes, I was climbing into a military SUV with Mia and five selected warriors. As we pulled away from camp, I focused on the faint pull I felt toward my child, using it like a compass to guide me.
Prophet’s warning echoed in my mind. “Do not continue on the path you have chosen, Alpha Nathan Blackwood. Do not go north.”
My jaw clenched as I stared at the road ahead.
For Rachel and my child, I would defy any warning, overcome any obstacle.
I love you, Rachel….
Wait for me!
