Chapter 225
But it was her eyes that truly horrified me blood red and filled with madness.
“Madison,” I breathed.
“What’s wrong?” Caelum asked, alarmed by my reaction.
“That woman… the leader of the rogues. I know her.” My voice shook. “She’s… she’s Madison. Alpha Raymond’s daughter.”
Caelum’s eyes widened. “The exiled one?”
“I don’t know,” I admitted. “But that’s her!”
The realization hit me that I had perhaps deliberately ignored news about Nathan and Madison, not wanting to face the complications.
When the fighting erupted, I lowered the binoculars. “I should check on the hospital,” I said.
Caelum quickly escorted me there, this time with me riding on his back in wolf form. Inside the town hospital, I found Selena already organizing supplies. I joined her and the other women, helping prepare for the inevitable casualties.
As the sun began to set, the battle raged on into the night. I approached Selena, anxiety gnawing at me.
“Selena, is my baby all right?” I asked.
She smiled reassuringly. “Yes, he’s fine, but he certainly misses you!”
Amanda, the new nanny, entered carrying my son. “Your Majesty, His Highness woke up and has been asking for you.”
I took him to a private room reserved for me adjacent to the main hall. Kissing his chubby cheeks, I whispered, “Be a good boy for mommy, okay? I love you
so much.”
A strange sense of foreboding washed over me as I handed him back to Amanda.
“Are you sure you have everything you need?” I asked, hesitating at the door.
‘Yep. I pledge my life to protect Your Highness,” Amanda replied.
“Alright. Just… be careful.” I couldn’t shake the feeling of dread as I returned to the main hall.
A messenger reported, “We’re holding the line for now, but they’re attacking fiercely.”
Wounded warriors began arriving, some in wolf form, others human.
We worked tirelessly, stitching wounds and administering pain medication.
The wolf–form injuries were more challenging to treat, while human forms were easier to bandage.
Several cases were critical, and I discreetly gave them some of my blood to help, careful not to make myself dizzy.
The howls and roars grew closer. Selena stepped outside to assess the situation, returning with Caelum, both looking tense.
“We’ve checked with Adam,” Selena reported. “He says the rogues are pushing back our troops, but we should be able to hold the line.”
I nodded, trusting his judgment. More wounded arrived, their injuries increasingly savage.
While bandaging a warrior’s arm, I heard a loud crash from the adjacent room. My heart began racing wildly. “My baby!” I gasped.

Caelum burst into the hall, panic in his voice. “Luna! His Highness… and Amanda… I can’t find them anywhere!”
The bandages and cleaning supplies slipped from my hands as I ran toward the private room, feeling as though my world was collapsing around me
The window had been broken from the outside, the room empty. Without hesitation, I grabbed a nearby surgical knife and climbed through the shattered window.
Caelum immediately shifted forms and followed me into the back courtyard.
*Caelum, can you smell them?” My voice trembled.
He sniffed the air and nodded. I climbed onto his back, and we raced in the direction of the scent.
Selena caught up with us as we ran. After five minutes, we realized we had left the town center behind. The clear cry of a baby boy pierced the night air.
My baby!!!
My heart lurched in my chest, a desperate ache spreading through me.
I jumped from Caelum’s back, my legs trembling with both fear and desperate hope.
Disoriented by panic, I sprinted in the other direction.
Shortly after, my eyes desperately searched the darkness until I made out two figures collapsed on the ground.
My throat tightened as I recognized Amanda’s motionless form, her arms still protectively wrapped around my son.
Even in death, she had shielded him until her final moment, while my child continued to wail, alive beside her cold body.
Lrushed forward, tears blurring my vision.
“Amanda-!” I sobbed, gathering my baby into my trembling arms.
“Awoooo!” Wolf howls echoed through the forest. We were surrounded, and they weren’t our people.
In the darkness, I could see red eyes gleaming. Rogue wolves. They had been waiting for me.
The terrible truth dawned on me as I clutched my child tighter. This was a trap. They had lured me out.
“It was her who drew me out–Madison!”
