Chapter 276
A sudden fear gripped me. “Selena, will Mateo inherit this power too?” I asked through our link.
“No,” came her reassuring reply. “You’re both fortunate. This gift passes only through the female line. Males don’t receive it. So the young prince won’t face the same risks you do. If you don’t have another daughter… the power will end with you, Your Majesty.”
Relief washed over me as I leaned forward to kiss Mateo’s chubby cheek. “Today is a lucky day, full of good news…”
As the sun set, candles were lit throughout the temple, casting a warm glow over our strange gathering.
Selena made arrangements for everyone to stay overnight, and Tyler organized patrols around the perimeter.
Victoria leaned close, whispering in my ear, “Look at you! The Queen! Sounds so… majestic!”
My cheeks flushed. “Victoria, stop teasing. I’m still adjusting to all this…”
She straightened, offering an exaggerated bow. “Yes, Your Majesty!”
Gina burst into laughter while my blush deepened.
It reminded me of easier times in Emerald City, when Gina, Victoria and I would share stories and laughter.
Mateo babbled in Gina’s arms, his tiny hands reaching toward Nathan, who still lay on the ground.
I glanced over and found Nathan’s gray eyes fixed on me, his expression calm and peaceful, almost… caring?
But he remained silent.
As the night wore on, exhaustion crept through my body. I tried to stifle a yawn.
Selena returned from checking the perimeter and noticed immediately. “The ritual drained considerable energy. You should rest. It’s been a long day.” She assured me she would watch over both the prince and Alpha Nathan.
Being completely worn out, I simply nodded and said, “Fine, let me get some rest first.”
When morning came, I woke to commotion outside the temple.
“What’s happening outside?”
Victoria stood nearby, holding Mateo. “People from nearby villages have heard of your arrival. They’ve gathered outside the temple. They wish to see you?”
- 3.
“Why would they want to see me?” I asked, bewildered.
Gina came to help me stand. “They’re here to welcome their queen.”
Nathan remained on the altar, eyes closed, his expression slightly pained. The ritual still needed a few hours to complete. I decided to see what was happening outside while waiting.
As I prepared to leave, a pained groan stopped me. “Ah-!! Nathan twisted on the altar, his face contorted.
“Nathan? Are you alright? I asked, placing my hand on his shoulder.
He turned, grimacing. “I’m–fine.” His strained voice suggested otherwise.

I wondered if my blood might help him, but decided to consult Selena first. I immediately reached out through our mental link. “Nathan seem to be in pain. What should we do now? Do you think my blood could help?”
“Hmm, not in this case. He just needs to regain his energy. This is expected. Please be patient, Your Majesty. We’re almost there
She requested I greet the people outside, and I agreed, telling the others that Nathan would be fine and that I’d step out briefly,
“Be careful, Victoria warned as I left.
Outside the temple, I was met with cheers and applause.
“It’s the Queen!”
“We’re so blessed to have you!”
“Queen Rachel!”
“Long live Queen Rachel!*
“May the Moon Goddess bless you, Queen Rachel!”
The crowd approached, heads bowed, hands pressed together as if in prayer, thanking the Moon Goddess for my presence.
I spent time walking among them, thanking them for their support and speaking with my people.
After a while, Selena noticed my fatigue and suggested I return to rest.
I nodded and bid the people farewell, heading back to check on Nathan.
As I reached the temple entrance, someone unexpected followed us inside.
Rachel!” a familiar voice called.
I turned in surprise. “Carter?”
His expression was urgent, his body tense. “No time for reunions. You need to leave immediately.”
My brow furrowed in confusion. “Why? We can’t… Nathan still needs to-”
“A powerful force is heading this way,” Carter cut me off. “Madison and Kael are leading them.”
