Chapter 295
Carter’s POV
The forest path narrowed as we climbed higher into the mountains. I led the way, with Madison and Kael following behind me.
Never in a million years did I think I’d be leading anyone to my brother’s hiding place–especially not these two.
How much further, Carter? Madison’s shrill voice pierced the silence. “These shoes weren’t made for hiking.”
I don’t like this woman… she’s downright malicious. She doesn’t have an ounce of Rachel’s goodness.
I rolled my eyes, grateful she couldn’t see my face. “Almost there.”
The irony wasn’t lost on me. For years, I’d dreamed of killing Nathan myself. He’d murdered my father, stolen my position, taken everything from me.
And yet here I was, leading his enemies straight to him.
But I don’t want him to die…
“Hurry up,” Kael growled, his heavy footsteps crushing branches behind me.
I said nothing, but my mind raced. This was Nathan’s plan–his own twisted idea to protect Rachel somehow.
But watching these two kill my brother wasn’t part of the deal I’d signed up for. I might hate the bastard, but he was still my brother.
As we rounded the bend, the mouth of the cave came into view. Lucas stood outside, his face impassive.
And there was Nathan, sitting at the entrance with his hands bound behind his back.
“Well, would you look at that?” Madison’s voice dripped with venom. Her high–pitched laugh mixed with Kael’s deeper chuckle, creating a disturbing harmony.
“Look who it is–the Alpha of the Ironjaw pack, all wrapped up like a present!” Madison’s eyes gleamed with malice.
Nathan’s gaze locked on mine, fury blazing in his gray eyes. “You fucking traitor!” he roared. “How could you do this, you pathetic piece of shit!” He strained against his bindings. “Are you trying to get me killed? I know you hate me, but think about Rachel! Think about your nephew!”
I had to hand it to Nathan–his acting was convincing. I bit back a smile, crossing my arms instead.
This was all his idea, after all.
“You know I only do what benefits me, bro,” I said with exaggerated casualness. “The Ironjaw pack has nothing to offer me anymore. That pack is doomed to fail, and Rachel is clearly just a breeder who’ll sleep with anyone for power.” I shrugged. “If returning to Dylan’s side gets me something better, why shouldn’t I go elsewhere?
Nathan spat at my feet, his saliva landing inches from my boots. “You goddamn traitor!”
I turned to Madison and Kael. “He’s all yours. Try not to kill him, alright? He’s worth more alive than dead.”
Kael’s eyes darkened. “I can’t promise that.”
Without warning, Kael stepped forward and drove his fist into the side of Nathan’s head with a sick nog crack.

Chapter 295
I exchanged a quick glance with Lucas, silently confirming our mutual understanding: don’t let them kill him.
The impact nearly knocked Nathan’s eye out of its socket. I watched dispassionately, telling myself a few punches wouldn’t kill my brother.
Nathan swayed but remained upright. “Pretty easy to beat up a tied man,” he snarled through bloodied lips.
Kael’s face contorted with rage. He pummeled Nathan harder, each blow accompanied by a shout or curse. His knuckles split open, smearing Nathan’s face with both their blood.
Madison shoved Kael aside. “Let me have a turn,” she hissed.
She was worse than Kael–more calculated in her cruelty. Her sharp nails raked across Nathan’s chest, leaving deep furrows. She kicked him repeatedly in the ribs, the stomach, the groin.
‘Did you ever think this day would come, you arrogant bastard?” Madison taunted, driving her heel into Nathan’s thigh. “Not so high and mighty now, are you? Maybe I should cut off your balls and feed them to the birds!”
I forced myself to watch, maintaining my cold expression even as my insides churned.
This was the brother who’d made my life hell, who’d stolen everything from me–so why did watching him bleed bother me so much?
When Nathan finally lost consciousness, his face an unrecognizable bloody mess, I stepped forward.
“That’s enough,” I said firmly.
Madison ignored me, delivering another vicious kick to Nathan’s ribs. Kael joined her, landing several more punches.
“I said enough!” I moved between them and Nathan’s crumpled form. “Listen, no one wants Nathan Blackwood dead more than I do, but he’s more valuable alive than dead.” I gestured toward his battered body. “If you parade him in front of your troops before the attack, you’ll boost their morale and crush the Ironjaw pack’s spirit. They’ll fall like dominoes before you!”
