Chapter 308
I heard whispers of “Queen” rippling through the group like a gentle wave, my name spoken with a mixture of awe and reverence,
Adam saw me and exclaimed emotionally, his voice choked with tears, ‘You’re alive!
You’re alive!
I replied, “Let’s cut to the chase. That’s not what matters right now.”
Adam nodded vigorously, then beckoned over a young man and an elderly woman who appeared to be blind. Queen, this is Jasper Brown and Isla, the prophet of their village.”
“Thank you for saving Carter,” I said sincerely.
Jasper seemed nervous. “Queen!” His voice trembled slightly.
“Please, there’s no need for formality,” I assured him.
“I’m Jasper Brown,” he introduced himself. “This is Isla, our village prophet. We’re from a small village in the southern part of Vortex Island.”
Tyler stepped forward. “We reclaimed that area from Kael some time ago.”
We moved slightly away from the crowd, and Jasper explained their situation. “Months ago, Nathan Alpha drove back the Western Territory’s forces and reclaimed our land. Isla helped him and told him a prophecy.”
“Later, when Nathan Alpha was gone, King Jason lost to Kael from the Western Territory, who took control of our village again.”
Gina frowned. “So you decided to serve Kael?” Her tone was accusatory.
“We had no choice!” Jasper quickly defended. “They forced us! Our prophet Isla told us to seek refuge in the north, but Kael’s men caught us on the way. They kept our women and children hostage, forcing our men to fight for the Western Territory…”
Victoria shook her head. “That’s horrific.”
“When we saw Nathan Alpha chained and displayed as a captive, we were terrified,” Jasper continued. Fortunately, he escaped. Later, when Kael was injured and most of his forces killed, we saw our chance. We rescued the prisoners and came here.”
Jasper then requested to speak with Nathan Alpha directly.
I faced the dilemma of explaining Nathan’s condition. “Nathan Alpha is currently unavailable, I said carefully, then turned to address the crowd. “Everyone, I promise you are safe here in Nexus!”
After a moment of silence, cheers and sobs of relief erupted from the crowd. My heart ached seeing so many innocents caught in this war.
As people were being led to temporary housing, I noticed Isla and Jasper preparing to leave. I called them back, particularly interested in what the prophet might know about Nathan.
I asked, “Can you tell me about Nathan more?”
“When I met him, he was in our village, suffering great pain,‘ Isla said, her milky eyes seeming to see beyond the physical. ‘Not from what happened to him on the battlefield… the pain came from you!”
‘Me?” I was stunned.
Isla nodded. “Yes, Queen. He felt your pain when you were giving birth to your child, so I built a bridge for you both to meet.”
The revelation left me speechless. Nathan’s appearance during Mateo’s birth hadn’t been a hallucination—it had been a real connection.

“I cannot explain how it was done, dear. Only the Moon Goddess knows. But I did ware Natkan Alpha not to go north, Re
“Thank you. For everything.” I said, tears sliding down my cheeks.
Seeing my emotion, Isla tilted her head. ‘You are troubled, Luna.
‘Prophet… ma am, could you help us once more? Please come with me.
I led her to my suite where Nathan lay. Jasper gasped when he saw him. “Na–Nathan Alpha
I stroked Nathan’s face gently. “My blood kept him from death, but… can you see if there’s a way to wake him? The desperation in my voice was unmistakable.
“The prognosis is grim, but I will try,” Isla said.
She placed her hands over mine on Nathan’s chest. After a moment, she jerked back as if burned, dropping to her knees.
“Luna, you are a descendant of the Moon Goddess herself, and I am but a mortal. How can I foresee the destiny of a child of the Moon? I’m sorry, my Luna, but the fate of you and your mate is beyond my sight.”
My heart sank, hope evaporating.
“Does that mean you cannot help?” I asked, struggling to keep my voice steady.
“Yet, not all hope is lost…” Isla said softly. “Though I cannot fulfill your wish myself, perhaps I can guide you to one who can provide answers”
“Please, tell me who can help. I’ll go anywhere,” I said eagerly.
Isla smiled knowingly. “Queen, be patient and wait for that person to come to you.”
