The Alpha’s Purchased Slave
Chapter 352
Nathan’s POV
The soft glow of moonlight filtered through the curtains, casting silver streaks across our tangled limbs. Rachel’s breathing had slowed, her body relaxed against mine as the passionate storm that had consumed us moments ago settled into quiet aftermath.
I traced lazy patterns on her bare shoulder, marveling at how someone so fierce in battle could feel so soft beneath my fingertips.
My chest tightened with emotions I still struggled to name.“The war was over, our enemies subdued, and our son was safe.
Yet uncertainty gnawed at me, an Alpha who controlled territories and commanded thousands, but couldn’t silence the doubt in my own mind.
“Thank you, Rachel,” I whispered against her hair, inhaling her sweet scent of honey and wildflowers.
Her fingers paused their gentle exploration of my chest. “For what?”
“Thank you… for being with me,” I continued, my voice rougher than intended. “Thank you for letting me love you.”
Rachel shifted in my arms, tilting her face up to meet my gaze. Her green eyes reflected the moonlight, turning them into pools of liquid silver.
She said, “Nathan, I thank the Moon Goddess every day for making me the luckiest woman in the world.”
I saw myself mirrored in her eyes–not as the fearsome Alpha others cowered before, but as the man she had chosen.
It should have been enough. It was enough. And yet…
“Nathan, you have that look again,” Rachel said, her fingers tracing the crease between my brows. “What’s on your mind?*
I captured her hand, pressing a kiss to her palm. “Just thinking about how grateful I am to have you. After everything… that we can be together like this.”
“Nathan, we’re a pair.” Her voice was soft but certain.
I nodded, but the knot in my chest remained. “Rachel, do you eyer think about our past? About when I was still a rogue Alpha, or when I… when I marked you against your will?”
Her expression softened, no trace of resentment in her eyes. “Marked me against my will?…” She shook her head. “Nathan, you did that to save my life. I’d never blame you for that.”
“Thank you for saying that,” I replied, relief washing through me. But there was more, something that had been bothering me for weeks now.
Rachel studied my face. “There’s something else. You’ve been acting strange lately. Talk to me, Nathan.
I took a deep breath, finally voicing the question that had been burning inside me. “If you don’t hold that against me… I can’t help but wonder, Rachel, why haven’t you marked me?”
Her eyes widened slightly.
“If you marked me, I continued, ‘we would be inseparable. You would officially be my Luna. We would have the mind link. It would strengthen our bond in ways I can’t even describe.”
A small smile played at the corners of her lips. “Nathan, I don’t need a mind link to know what you’re thinking. I know you well enough now that I can guess your thoughts without you saying a word.”
I chuckled, conceding the point. “That’s true. But still, it would be best for our mate bond. What do you think?”
Chapter 352
When I looked down again, Rachel had her eyes closed, her breathing even and deep.
Is she ignoring me? Does she not want to… No, I shouldn’t overthink this.
She must be more exhausted than I realized, especially after we went at it for another two hours today. I carefully shifted my position to make sure she was comfortable, then pulled the blanket up to cover her shoulders.
I watched her sleep, a sense of peace washing over me at the sight, though that familiar worry still lingered at the edges.
Stupid of me to ask such questions when she needs rest, I chided myself. But deep down, the fear remained: What if Rachel runs from me again?
She’s become so amazing now. I’m afraid once other guys notice her, they’ll be lining up to confess their feelings.
