Chapter 361
Rachel’s POV
“Open it,” he urged.
Inside was a pale yellow dress with delicate lace detailing. I looked at Nathan curiously, noting the mysterious smile playing on his lips.
“Will you wear it for me?” he asked softly.
I agreed and returned to my suite to change. As I slipped the dress over my head, a strange mix of anxiety and excitement washed over me. The fabric felt familiar against my skin, evoking memories filled with nostalgia, longing, sadness, but also happiness.
The dress was beautiful–simple yet elegant, with intricate details that reminded me of… Mom.
Back in the garden, Nathan took my hand and led me through winding paths.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“You’ll see soon enough,” he replied, his eyes twinkling with anticipation.
We walked down a small hill and into an ancient grove of trees. Eventually, we came to what appeared to be a wild, tangled mass of roses.
“Go in, Nathan encouraged. “There’s a path.”
Curious, I pushed through what I now noticed was a cleverly disguised entrance. The path became increasingly familiar as I walked, and when I reached its end, my breath caught in my throat.
Before me lay a secret garden, just like the one from my memories, filled with all sorts of beautiful flowers–peonies, lilies, lavender, and Queen Anne’s lace. Tears sprang to my eyes. It was almost identical to the secret garden my mother had created for us.
The only difference was a double swing in the center. Mateo sat securely in a seat designed for me, giggling and waving his little hands and feet when he saw us.
“How did you…?” I whispered, overwhelmed.
“Sit down,” Nathan said gently, squeezing Mateo’s tiny fist.
I sat beside Mateo, and Nathan began pushing the swing gently from behind.
“Nathan, I can hardly believe it!” I said in awe. “How did you do all this?”
“Do you like it?” he asked.
“It’s beautiful. I love it! Just like the garden my mother and I had,” I affirmed, feeling a surge of emotions.
“Now you have it again. I think she would be happy to know you’re sharing it with our son and me,” Nathan said softly.
I wiped away tears. “Yes, she would… Thank you, Nathan.” My heart felt full of love and contentment.
Nathan picked up a leaf and placed it between his lips, blowing softly to create a gentle, slow melody. I recognized it immediately–the tune I always played on my harp, the song my mother used to sing to me in our secret garden.
The swing gradually stopped, and Nathan walked around to face me, his eyes shining with intensity.
As the melody ended, he knelt on one knee and pulled a small box from his pocket.

“Rachel…” His voice, was deep with emotion. “I’ve thought long and hard about this. Tried to figure out what you like, what would make you happy…”
“Nathan…” I choked out, my voice barely audible.
“But the more we talked, the more I learned about your past, I finally realized that what I was worried about might not matter, he continued.
“You value things for what they truly mean. I believe that if anything 1 prepare for you comes from the heart, you’ll appreciate it, because thars
who you are.”
Tears streamed down my face, warming my heart.“My mate–he understands me.
Nathan opened the box. On the right was a beautiful ring with a pear–shaped diamond. On the left was a diamond with a square cut and triangular facets on the pavilion, comparable to the one I had seen with Victoria. I gasped in surprise.
“This right ring has been passed down through generations of the Blackwood family,” Nathan explained. I wanted to give you jewelry as precious to me as you are, but such a thing doesn’t exist. That’s why I chose this one instead. It’s probably experienced more than I have in my lifetime–joy and sorrow, trust and betrayal, love and hate. Yet somehow, through generations, it has always found its way to the Luna of the Ironjaw pack. The ring on the left is the one you like. I thought that a proposal should both show my sincerity and include your preferences.
Nathan held the right ring toward me. “I can’t put into words what I feel for you, Rachel, but if you’ll allow me, I’ll spend my lifetime showing you my eternal feelings for you.”
Nathan took a deep breath, gathering courage. “Marry me.”
My heart thundered in my chest, tears streaming down my face.
Perhaps I’m just too happy. I had yearned and dreamed of this moment for so long.
When I opened my lips to speak, I found myself speechless. “Nathan…” His name escaped as a whisper, the only word I could summon. I noticed his hands trembling as he held the ring between us, his fingers betraying the confidence in his voice.
