CHAPTER 0141

Meadow’s POV

Alaric’s eyes held mine, calm and heated. I couldn’t look away even if I wanted to. Couldn’t breathe, couldn’t move. I was standing close enough to him that my exposed leg brushed against the side of his pants. He was fully clothed, and yet, I still managed to feel his heat against my skin

My fingers twitched at my sides and I inhaled through my parted lips

Behind me, Tyler scoffed. What the hell are you trying to do here?”

It’s simple.Alaric didn’t hesitate. You may choose to stay or leave. But if you leave, you’ll be choosing to spend a long time in prison for embezzlement and rape-”

But I didn’t-”

You would’ve.He didn’t miss a beat. And that is all I need to know to make sure you’d never get out of there. You should know by now not to test me, Cross.”

I risked a glance at Tylerat the set in his jaw, the glare he was shooting my way, the way his fingers dug into the seat. He arched a brow at me, like he was daring me to take my clothes off like Alaric had just asked me to

He was looking at me the exact same way he used to when he didn’t approve of something, and he thought I was going to cower and give into his silent demands

Meadow-”

“Say my wife’s name one more time, Cross.Alaric growled. I turned to face him. I already told youit’s your choice to either stay or leave. Although, it would be in your best interest to stay.‘

>>

Tyler didn’t say anything else, and I didn’t hear the sound of his shoes against the floor, so I suppose he was going to stay

Just then, Alaric’s gaze shifted to me, and I wasn’t sure what expression I had on my face, but his eyes softened

Take it off, baby,he said softly. I want to see you.”

And then his jaw ticked. He needs to see the difference between how a man USES a woman, his eyes flicked toward Tyler coldly, and how a real man WORSHIPS her.”

A shiver ran down my spine, pulse pounding my ears

Tyler could hear everything Alaric was saying to me. I wasn’t sure how that made me feel. I had been holding my own all this while, but right now…

I’d bend you over my desk and fucking spank that ass until it’s red. I’d make sure you cried loud enough for my employees to hear, most especially, your exboyfriend.”

Those were the words that Alaric had said to me a few weeks ago when we were discussing office fantasies. They never left my headI remembered it word for word

He had asked me if I would like him to fuck me from behind while forcing Tyler to watch us

And that wasthat was exactly what he was doing

Heat rushed to my core. I wanted it. God, I did

But I also wanted Alaric to push me more

Alaric narrowed his eyes at mea silent warning. Or maybe a plea

Swallowing, I stepped forward, biting down on my lower lip as Alaric pushed the chair backward so I could have more space

Why don’t you help me take it off then?I whispered, my eyes dropping down to his mouth

Alaric’s jaw ticked, but the next thing he did caught me off guard. In one swift motion, he pulled me down onto his lap so I was straddling him

My pleasure,he rasped right before he claimed my lips in a fierce kiss. I relaxed against him, sighing into his mouth. His tongue slid along my bottom lip, caressing it before he slipped it into my mouth. A moan escaped me when his fingers reached for the sleeve of my dress and caressed my shoulder before slowly pulling it down

For a moment, I let myself get lost in the kiss. I let myself forget that Tyler was present. But then, Alaric trailed his kisses to my jaw and all of a sudden, I was aware again

AlaricI started to whisper but he shushed me

Relax, love,he whispered into my ear for only me to hear. One hand was in my hair, pulling on it so my head was tilting sideways, my neck exposed, while the other hand trailed up my thigh, pushing my dress higher with every second that passed

He is nothing,he said. Nothing, baby, you hear me?”

I swallowed thickly, nodding. Nothing,I echoed

I wasn’t the one facing Tyler, Alaric was. So I didn’t know what expression was on his face at that moment

Right now, all he wishes is that he was the one doing this to you. He wishes he got to fuck you before betraying you.His voice was louder now. Isn’t that right, Cross?”

Tyler didn’t say anything at first, but Alaric must’ve shot him a death glare or something, because he stammered: Yyes, sir.”

Yes, sirwhat?Alaric asked casually. How do you feel right now, Cross. What’s on your mind? And you better be fucking honest.”

He pressed a kiss to my shoulder and I nearly melted. The contrast between the words he was speaking to Tyler and his touch on my skin was phenomenal

ITyler trailed off, clearing his throat. You’re right. I hate that I’m not the one kissing her right now. I hate that I didn’t get to fuck her before everything else happened.”

I scoffed, feeling a rush of anger in my chest. I thought you loved Juniper,I said without turning to face him

I do. But I don’t like seeing you with anyone else either.”

My nostrils flared. Tyler had some gutsthat was for sure. He thought he could claim me. Own me like I was just some kind of object he could use whenever he liked

That’s too bad,Alaric finally spoke. Because right now, you’re going to see us together, and more.”

And then he pulled back to look at me. How are you feeling?he whispered

Good,I murmured

I was a bit shaken, but I was okay. And now, I was completely on board with whatever Alaric was planning on doing to me

Good girl,he rasped, his eyes filling up with warmth. You mean so much to me. You know that, don’t you?”

I nodded, arching my back as his hand slid up and down my spine. My dress was now bunched around my waist, leaving me exposed in my black bra

I want you to stop hiding, Meadow. No more fear, no more shame. Let him see what he will never get to touch. He kissed the corner of my mouth. I’ll take care of you, I promise.”

My throat tightened. Alaric was changing the narrative, rewriting the story that Tyler and Juniper had written for me a long time agothe story where I was small and disposable and unworthy

But that wasn’t me anymore

And under my husband’s dark gaze, I understood what he was trying to do. What he was doing

This wasn’t just about lust or fantasy

This was about power.

Okay, I finally whispered. I trust you.”

Meadow Russell arrives at an upscale hotel, heart fluttering with excitement and nerves. She’s about to marry the love of her life, Tyler, in a small, private ceremony — just the two of them. Clutching her bag, she approaches the front desk with a smile. “Hi, I have a reservation. Meadow Russell.”

But from the very first second, something feels off.

The receptionist’s red-painted lips curl into a mocking sneer, and her colleague exchanges a strange look with her. Meadow’s cheerful tone falters as confusion settles in. The woman scoffs, “You’re kidding, right?” The disbelief in her tone makes Meadow’s stomach twist. She frowns, insisting there must be a mistake, but both receptionists continue to look at her with something close to pity — and something else she can’t quite name.

Then comes the shocker.

According to the hotel records, she’s already checked in. Two hours ago. With a man. The receptionist even claims to have spoken with her — complimenting her “cute top.” The same white crop top with the word “BRIDE” written across it that she’s wearing now.

Meadow tries to rationalize it. Maybe Tyler had checked in under her name. Maybe it’s a simple mix-up. She laughs nervously and explains that her fiancé must have done it for convenience. But both receptionists seem unconvinced. One of them finally sighs and hands her a spare keycard, muttering, “I hope you get things sorted out.”

On her way up to the room, Meadow’s heart pounds in her chest. Something feels horribly wrong, but she refuses to believe it. Tyler would never do anything to hurt her. They’ve been planning this wedding for months — their dream elopement. She tries to calm herself, breathing in and out as the elevator ascends, but her hands won’t stop shaking.

When she finally reaches the room and swipes the keycard, her worst fears materialize before her eyes.

The moment the door opens, the sound hits her first — muffled moans, heavy breathing, the rhythmic creak of the bed. Then she sees them.

Her twin sister, Juniper, straddling Tyler, his hands gripping her hips as he thrusts into her without restraint.

The world stops. The bag slips from Meadow’s trembling hands and lands with a soft thud. The scene before her feels like a cruel joke — something ripped out of a nightmare. Her vision blurs with tears, her body frozen in disbelief.

For a full minute, she just stands there. Watching. Waiting. Hoping someone would scream “gotcha” and end this cruel trick.

But there’s no misunderstanding to clear up. No mistake. No illusion.

Her twin sister moans again, whispering, “Yes, that’s it, baby,” as if to drive the knife deeper into Meadow’s heart.

Something inside her shatters.

“Juniper…? Tyler?” she finally manages to whisper, her voice barely recognizable.

They both turn, startled. Tyler’s face twists in shock, then panic. He pushes Juniper off him, stammering, “Meadow, I swear, I thought she was you!”

It’s a pathetic excuse. One that doesn’t even make sense.

Juniper doesn’t even bother covering herself. She just smirks, tossing her messy hair over her shoulder like a queen enjoying the chaos she’s created. “Oh, please,” she scoffs. “It’s time we drop the act. This has been going on for a while.”

Meadow stumbles back, staring between them. “What are you talking about?”

Her twin rolls her eyes. “You really didn’t think he loved you, did you?”

It hits Meadow all at once — the hotel mix-up, the receptionist’s strange looks, the duplicate “Meadow Russell” check-in. Juniper had stolen her identity, her name, her wedding — and the man she loved.

Tyler tries to approach her again, naked and unashamed. He grabs her jaw gently, his expression hard. “You thought I loved you, Meadow? No. Juni’s the love of my life.”

The words pierce like knives.

Every memory — every kiss, every late-night conversation, every promise he made — turns to ash. She had believed in him completely, trusted him with her heart. And all along, he’d been sharing that same intimacy with her twin sister.

Meadow stares at Juniper, still unable to process it. The last time she saw her twin was two years ago. They’d grown apart after Juniper’s endless trail of lies and manipulation had driven a wedge between them. Juniper had always been the beautiful, daring, chaotic one — the one who got what she wanted, no matter who she hurt. But never, not in her darkest thoughts, had Meadow imagined she would do this.

Juniper laughs again, the sound sharp and cruel. “She’s in shock, baby. Maybe we should help her out of her misery,” she says mockingly, then pulls Tyler into another kiss right in front of her.

That’s when Meadow realizes this isn’t a mistake. This isn’t a sudden betrayal. It’s a plan.

Her sister had known exactly what she was doing. She had tracked Meadow down, learned about the wedding, and swooped in like a vulture to destroy what little happiness she had built. The matching outfit, the fake check-in — all of it was deliberate.

The pain turns into rage. Her tears blur her sight, her breath coming out in shaky bursts. Every muscle in her body screams at her to turn around, to run far away from the two people who’ve just ripped her soul apart.

But she doesn’t move.

She stands there, trembling, her heart breaking piece by piece as she watches her sister smirk and her fiancé — her almost-husband — stand there unashamed, not even offering a shred of remorse.

Tyler and Juniper exchange a look, and she realizes — they’re enjoying this. They want her to see. To suffer.

Meadow’s hands ball into fists. She feels like she’s watching her life crumble in real time, and there’s nothing she can do but breathe through the ache and pray she doesn’t collapse.

Every part of her screams that this is the moment she loses everything — her trust, her love, her family.

And yet, deep inside, a spark ignites — not of despair, but of something darker. A promise that this won’t be the end of her story.

Because betrayal that deep doesn’t fade. It carves itself into your bones. And Meadow Russell — heartbroken, humiliated, and hollow — walks out of that hotel room knowing one thing for certain.

She will never forgive them.

And one day, they will both pay for what they’ve done.
