4: Rogue Attack

DREW’S POV

My ears perked when I heard light footsteps coming my way. My wolf went on the defense, but soon calm down when his nose caught the familiar scent.

She found me.

Moonlight filtered through the trees in soft, silver ribbons, making her hair shimmer like frost. Mika padded barefoot across the mossy ground, her thin dress clinging to her curves, her eyes lit with that reckless hunger I knew too well.

“Thought I’d find you here,” she said, her voice low and smoky.

I didn’t say a word. I didn’t need to. My wolf stirred at the sight of her, lust mixing with something darker. Something I couldn’t name.

She stepped closer, her fingers ghosting along my bare arm. “You look like hell.”

“Feel like it too,” I muttered.

She didn’t ask questions. Mika never did when it came to pain, she just offered escape. And I took it, like I always did.

“About earlier, I’m sorry I pushed you.”

“It’s ok. You’re forgiven.”

My hand slid around her waist, gripping her roughly as I backed her into the tree. Her breath hitched, but her eyes stayed locked on mine. Daring. Defiant. Desperate. Just like me.

“Drew, do you think one day you could ever love me?”

There it was again, I almost dropped my arms from around her.

“No, please don’t let me go,” she begged. “I want you to fuck me.”

She hoisted one leg around my waist, her nails biting into my shoulders. I gripped her thick thighs and lifted her without breaking eye contact, grinding against her until she moaned loudly.

It wasn’t love. It never had been.

But it felt good being wanted, even if it was temporary. Even if it was toxic.

Mika tangled her fingers in my hair as I tugged the thin straps of her dress down. The fabric slipped like water, baring her skin to the cold night air. She hissed when my mouth found the hollow of her throat, her back arching against the bark.

“I’m so horny,” she whispered, panting. “I want you to break my pussy in two.”

“Maybe I will,” I said, voice low. Then I pushed inside her in one smooth thrust.

She cried out and bit down on my shoulder to keep from screaming. I fucked her hard, desperate, every motion fueled by the chaos in my chest. She wrapped around me like wildfire, meeting me stroke for stroke, digging her heels into my back.

The forest swallowed her moans, but not mine. I groaned her name into her neck, tasting sweat and skin, and maybe something like regret.

It wasn’t gentle. It never was with us.

But it was real.

I fucked her and came, but I didn’t slide out, my dick grew hard again, so I fucked her again, until her body went limp in my arms. Five times. That was how many times she came.

When it was over, we parted. Mika began slipping her dress back on.

I stared at her and I knew she was speaking to someone through the pack link. She began to move a little faster.

“Being the Beta’s daughter sucks sometimes.”

I raised a brow. “Yeah?”

“He watches me like a hawk. Tracks my scent when I leave the house. Always asking who I talk to.” Her laugh was bitter. “If he finds out I’ve been screwing the Alpha’s son in the woods…”

“He’ll what? Ground you?” I smirked, but it didn’t reach my eyes. “You’re eighteen.”

She didn’t smile either. “He’s not like your dad. Walter believes in the mate bond. Lines. Tradition.” She sighed, pulling her dress back down over her thighs. “He wouldn’t just be mad. He’d probably kill me.”

“Then it’s a good thing no one saw us,” I said.

Mika leaned in and kissed my cheek. “See you whenever,” she giggled.

The summer was almost over and I would be leaving to go back to college in two weeks, but Mika leaves tomorrow morning since it’s her first year starting college. She has orientation and all that other crap. I felt bad that I had taken her virginity last month, but after my mother died she was comforting me and one thing led to the other.

“Wait!” I grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards me, then I kissed her cheek. “See you whenever.”

She slipped off into the shadows, light on her feet like always, leaving the scent of sweat and sex behind her.

I waited until I couldn’t hear her anymore. Then I shifted.

Remus stretched under my skin, his black fur rippling out as bone and muscle rearranged. Four legs. Sharp teeth. Fire in my blood. It was a relief to stop thinking. To stop feeling. I wasn’t Drew anymore. I was the heir to the strongest pack on the East Coast and I was pissed.

That’s when I smelled it.

Rot. Sweat. Blood.

Rogue.

I froze, hackles raised.

The scent shouldn’t have been here, this deep on Clawbelle land, it was suicide.

I crouched low, ears swiveling, eyes scanning the underbrush. I saw fast movement, then I heard a snarl. The rogue burst out from behind a thicket, its fangs bared, and its eyes wild with starvation and hate.

He lunged, and so did I.

We collided mid-air, snapping jaws and tearing claws. Pain sliced across my shoulder as his teeth grazed bone, but I was faster. Stronger. I slammed him to the ground, my jaws clamping around his throat.

There was a loud, sickening crack.

He gurgled, twitched, then stilled.

His body shifted back to his human form as he died.

I didn’t shift back in case more rogues were on their way. I studied this one, he looked young. Maybe eighteen. He was filthy and malnourished.

I stood over him, panting, my blood hot and furious.

What the hell was he doing this far in?

I didn’t howl. Didn’t call for help.

Instead, I clamped my teeth on his wrist and started dragging him. I’d dump the body in the ravine for now, come back with Father later.

But just as I started pulling, I heard it, a twig snapping. I looked up and saw her standing ten feet away, frozen like a deer in headlights.

She had a blanket wrapped around her shoulders, her hair a mess from sleep, face pale and wide-eyed.

Becca.

Our eyes locked.

My breath caught. So did hers.

Then she screamed and turned to run away.

“Wait!” I wanted to shout, but all that came out was a guttural growl.

I was still in my fucking wolf form.

She ran. Fast.

I shifted back, ignoring the sting of the cold air on my bare skin. “Becca, stop!”

But she didn’t, she couldn’t hear me through her loud screams. Her feet pounded the forest floor, crashing through underbrush. Her scream echoed through the trees.

I was just about to chase her when I was flanked by two more mangy rogues.

“Oh shit.”
