A rough breath escaped her as soon as the emperor disappeared out of the door. Natalia felt her legs give out on her, and she dropped to the ground, her entire body quivering.
The emperor exuded a deathly aura, she had only been trying her best to keep her composure. she felt all her strength follow through with him the moment he left. What kind of man is this? No…. This was not a man, this was a demon.
Natalia sat at the corner of her room, her knees drawn to her chest as she thought of all the possible things that would have happened to her sister and her father.
She had no way to know if they were alive or dead, and she was worried, very worried, she didn’t trust the word the emperor.
Would she be allowed to see them if she dared to ask? She wondered, but since the emperor had promised to do whatever she wanted, she might as well start to take advantage of it. Just like the emperor had promised, he sent repairmen to the room to replace all the things she had broken.
They worked diligently and fast.
If there was one thing she found out about the emperor, it was that the empire was a wealthy one.

“The council of the elders has requested a meeting with Your Majesty,” Azarok muttered his announcement and quickly lowered his head.
They had been looking everywhere for the emperor, but they found him in the garden trampling on the lifeless bodies of the guards that has been following him around earlier in the afternoon.
His eyes flashed red as he turned towards the older man, and he wiped the blood away from his face and stepped on the wrist of the squirming guard, who was almost dead.
Azarok grimaced at the sight, and then turned away slightly, wondering if he had come at the wrong time. it would be a shame if he said something to anger him and he ended up like these unfortunate guards.
“Why are they looking for me?” He reached for a cloth on the floor and wiped away the blood from his fingers. “Does this have something to do with the human princess?”
“Yes, sire,” Azarok answered shakily as he stepped away, clearing the path for the emperor to walk in.
“Get someone to clear up the bodies.” He ordered, and Azarok nodded his head as he turned towards the guards who stood beside him.
“Have someone clean this mess up.” His voice remained low and void of any emotions.
“Lead the way,” The emperor answered, his voice dark, cold, and still, like an endless loop. Azarok’s body trembled, even though dragons are close to monsters, there wasn’t any dragon who would commit such atrocious killings, and for what reason?

Azarok led the emperor towards the courtroom, where the empire’s elders had gathered, waiting patiently for him. They are the oldest clan members holding high prestigious positions; they have tutored and mentored other dragon emperors.
But Azmaveth was no ordinary emperor, he was closer to a demon than a dragon, so everyone just placed their opinions but never really forced him to do anything.
He left trails of blood as he walked towards the golden throne of his palace. Everyone stood still, as they could all sense the aura of death that surrounded him. His eyes flashed as he sat down, scanning the courtroom.
Every single elder of the empire was present.
“We humbly greet His Majesty, The Emperor,” They announced in unison, and Azmaveth rolled his eyes.
“Elder Barok of the Ember Dragon Tribe,” He called towards the elderly man who due to his age and sickness was unable to stand up, he was one of the oldest dragons, about nine hundred and seventy–six years old. “I heard your grandson got married recently, pardon me, I have been too occupied to send your family a congratulatory gift.”
“You’re so thoughtful of your subjects, thank you, my lord, but just your congratulations and well wishes is enough for me and worth more than any gold.” He refused warmly and cleared his throat, regarding the rest of the elders as if expecting them to speak up first.
Azmaveth noticed, they were always like this.
Gathering in the courtroom for a meeting without any proper announcement, and then staying quiet until he spoke first.
And he knows all too well that this was because they feared him.
“Why have you dragged your old, sickly body? I am sure the whole elders aren’t gathered here for warmth and visiting.” He mused, resting his face against his hand, watching them with amusement in his eyes.
Their eyes, even though warm and familiar, held scorn and hatred; he knew they had been the ones sending those assassins disguised as guards.
But since he wanted to play some more with them, he simply allowed them to do whatever they wished.
“There had been some rumors flying around that his Majesty had brought a human woman into the chambers of the queen, making her the first woman in your harem.” Thaddeus, the elder of the Black Dragon Tribe, murmured. He stroked his white beard as he glanced at his subordinates for backing.
“Yes, that is true, Your Majesty,” Barok agreed. “We understand if you choose a few humans to stay in the harem; humans are delightful creatures, and their vitality might help your vigor as a dragon. But making one of them your queen is a bit too much and against the culture.”
“What culture is it against?” Azmaveth muttered with disinterest.
“Only a dragon can bear the heir of a dragon; the human body isn’t compatible with the offspring of a

dragon, especially a great black dragon like you, my lord.” Myrka, ice dragon elder, answered instead. “Washing down our bloodline any further than it already is would reduce the future generation to no less than those humans. Weak and despicable.”
“What if I insist?” Azmaveth dared, and the elders glanced at each other in shock. “I want to make the princess of the shade tribe my queen. Even though she is human, she is anything but weak.”
