Soon, he would be marrying Nicole. Last time Jasmine came to see him, their conversation was cut short when he had to rush to the hospital, and he hadn’t properly said goodbye to her.
Thinking about this, Zachary wanted to see Jasmine one last time and say
a proper farewell. After that, he would finally let her go.

He parked his car in the neighborhood, walked up to her door, and raised his hand to knock.
Knock, knock, knock.
After a moment, the door opened. An old man in his fifties or sixties stood there, and for some reason, his expression suddenly turned very unpleasant.
“Who are you looking for?”
“I’m looking for Jasmine, who lives here.” Zachary tried to suppress his anger, but his tone was far from friendly.
Seeing Zachary’s demeanor, the old man assumed he had a grudge against the tenant. He was just there to help tidy up the place, so he called his wife over to handle the conversation.

The landlady kept rambling on, but Zachary could no longer hear a single word.
Cancer?
Late stage?
How could Jasmine have cancer, and in the late stage? When did this happen? No wonder her complexion looked so bad. He had always thought it was because she felt guilty for abandoning him.
