Chapter 38 Forgotten Names
Between the trees near the camp entrance, vines had been strung up like a clothesline, and the girls‘ laundry was hanging there to dry.

They’d washed their clothes while showering in the rain, and now everything was laid out on the vine to air out.
Curious, I walked over for a closer look.
That red pair of panties–I remembered those belonged to Jean.
The cartoon–print ones were Alice’s.
Lily’s shorts were white. Hailey didn’t have any underwear.
The black panties with the lace trim had to be Ginnie’s.
And then there was a matching bra and shorts set in pale lavender. The fabric looked high–end.
That set must have belonged to Faye.
I touched the silky fabric and found it was real, high–quality natural silk.
There was no brand tag–it was a custom–made piece. The price had to be sky- high.
I also noticed a faint stain on the silk panties that was hard to wash out.
was from Faye’s natural fluids. Without detergent, that spot was almost impossible to clean.
According to what Lily had explained, that kind of stain indicated that Faye had a highly sensitive body and a strong sex drive…
So Faye, who always seemed so mysterious and aloof, actually had intense sexual needs?

After looking at it for a moment, I re–hung the panties and went back to digging the reservoir.
To make things easier, I used a flat stone I found nearby. Sure enough, my digging speed increased.
The reservoir was about a meter square, but fairly deep–enough to hold a decent amount of water.
I used the dug–up dirt to reinforce the surrounding walls.
Around then, the girls returned from their foraging trip.
I asked them to gather some rocks and wood. With those materials, I began reinforcing the reservoir’s walls.
Since the reservoir was located on lower ground, the surrounding rainwater had started to slowly flow into it.
For now, though, the water was still murky. It would need time to settle before it was usable.
During dinner, Alice said to me, “Mr. Leon, we saw Elsa today!”
Hearing the name Elsa made my mind go blank for a second. It took me a moment to remember who that was.
The name Elsa felt strangely foreign to me.
For a moment, it felt like Alice wasn’t talking about my wife, but a complete stranger I hadn’t seen in years.
After a pause, I asked, “She’s still alive?”
Alice shrugged. “She’s tougher than a cockroach! She wasn’t wearing any clothes, and we saw her from a hillside far away. She looked at us for a moment, then headed deeper into the island.”
I snorted. “If she hadn’t run, I’d have killed her.”

Alice asked curiously, “Do you think she’ll find better resources deeper into the island? I mean, there’s freshwater here–maybe there are other survivors out there too…”
I shook my head. “She might find enough to survive, but not much more. The most stable food source is fish—they provide both water and salt. Heading deeper into the island will probably make things worse, not better… and there might be other dangers out there.”
I warned Alice, “This is an exile island. Deep in the wilderness, there could be other survivors who’ve been here longer than us. They might be far more ruthless.”
Trying to keep morale up, I said to the group, “Don’t lose hope. On a big island like this, someone will eventually claim sovereignty. Sooner or later, there’ll be scientific expeditions or hydrology teams that come here. There’s still hope. It might be a year, two years, or just a few months–but we have to hang in there.”
Faye spoke softly. “No matter what, we’ve got to keep living.”
To keep our survivor team safe, we decided to continue night shifts as usual.
Tonight, Hailey and I would keep watch while the others rested in the cave.
We sat in the little shelter outside, chatting in hushed voices.
By now, we were pretty close. I had my arm around Hailey’s shoulder, gently playing with her hair.
She murmured like she was talking in her sleep. “I was well–educated. I used to be a smart, beautiful woman. After I got married, I started a business with my husband. At first, things were great–he handled sales, and I managed finances. We had over fifty employees. Life was perfect. At our peak, we were worth tens of millions.”
That surprised me.
Tens of millions meant they were practically rich.

Her skin was well–maintained, and there was a faint fragrance from long–term use of luxury perfume.
From that, it was clear Hailey really had come from money.
In the dark, she continued, “Later on, I got pregnant. My husband told me to rest at home, so I left the company and waited for the baby. But his sex drive was strong. Even though I was pregnant, he still wanted sex. I had no choice but to give him blowjobs.”
Her voice was filled with sadness. “For over half a month, every morning and every night, I had to suck him off. When it wasn’t good enough, I used my breasts to give him tit jobs. But he still wasn’t satisfied. Eventually… I had to use my ass to keep him happy.”
I frowned. “But… did that even feel good? And that’s not exactly sanitary.”
