Evelyn said calmly, “When someone doesn’t matter to you, then they don’t get to mess with your peace.”
Evelyn had gone to Nathan for help instead of Helena because Helena was way too emotional. Even though she was Evelyn’s closest friend, Evelyn still wanted to keep a shred of dignity.
“I just had someone dig into it,” Helena said with a sneer. “Guess what? Clarissa’s the woman Adrian couldn’t get back in the day. No wonder he finally caved.”
Evelyn gave a bitter smile, thinking, ‘So that’s the story!’
She used to feel safe heading off to shoot deep in the jungle, because she knew Adrian wouldn’t fool around. Over the years, plenty of women had tried to get into his bed, and he tossed every single one of them out.
‘Well, it makes sense. People always want what they can’t have. Add in Clarissa’s soft voice and polished charm, no wonder Adrian would fall hard for that old flame,‘ thought Evelyn with a bitter laugh.
“I’ve decided to get a divorce,” Evelyn said, steady and clear.
She half expected Helena to launch into a whole speech about thinking it through. Instead, Helena clapped her hands like it was the best news she’d heard all week.
“Good riddance, Evie. A cheating man doesn’t deserve your time. There’s plenty of fish in the sea. Hon, the right person is awaiting you.”
Helena knew how to make Evelyn feel better.
Evelyn was never the type who couldn’t let go. This marriage had eaten up six years of her life, drained every ounce of fire and love she had.
She didn’t have the strength to let anyone else in. All she wanted was a peaceful life and to build her studio into something strong and successful.
Helena stayed and chatted with Evelyn for a long while, until a phone call finally dragged her away.
Evelyn wanted to get back to work, but she wasn’t sure how far the Horizon Group team had gotten without
her.
After explaining her condition to the doctor, she decided to get discharged.
She packed her things, paid the caregiver, and left with just a small bag in hand.
While passing through the garden in the hospital, she saw Adrian gently wrapping an arm around Clarissa’s shoulders, while Noah sat beside her, sweetly massaging her legs.
Evelyn didn’t even blink. She walked right past them like they were strangers. That man and that child didn’t stir a single ripple in her heart anymore.
However, Clarissa clearly wasn’t ready to let things go. She spotted Evelyn and called out, “Hey, Evelyn, are

you feeling better? I’m really sorry. Adrian and Noah were just worried about me, and they forgot about you for a while.”
Clarissa was apologizing, but every word dripped with smugness.

Evelyn stopped walking and retorted, “You look like you’re enjoying their care a lot. You show no sign of guilt at all for stealing someone else’s husband. Just save the noble speeches.”
Her tone was icy and biting. The garden had quite a few people strolling around, and all of them shot judgmental gazes toward Clarissa.
Clarissa had planned to rub salt in Evelyn’s wound, but didn’t expect Evelyn to snap back and leave her completely exposed.
A passerby whispered, “Wait, so she’s the other woman?”
“Unbelievable. Steals someone’s man and still acts all high and mighty. How shameless,” someone else said.
Whispers spread through the garden. Clarissa’s face burned. She wanted to yell, “The real mistress is the one who’s not loved.” But she knew that saying that would only confirm she was the homewrecker.
“Babe, don’t let random people mess with your mood. You don’t wanna stress yourself and risk hurting the baby, right?” Adrian laid a gentle hand on her stomach, giving her just the support she needed.
“Yeah, Mommy, you’ve gotta stay calm for the baby,” Noah added.
He even called Clarissa “Mommy” so naturally.
Evelyn let out a mocking laugh, thinking, ‘Well done. Right in front of your real mom, and you’re calling someone else that.‘
