Chapter 8
Back at the Black Stone Pack, Mia basked in her stolen glory. She now lived in my old room, wore my finest clothes, and walked through the halls as if she owned them.
My father, the Alpha, doted on her with overflowing affection. And Leon–he had become the pack’s hero. They praised him for “bringing home the true Alpha heir.”
My father named him the next Lead Warrior, a powerful role with both authority and influence. With a supposed Alpha mate and a child at his side, Leon was on his way to becoming the most powerful man in the pack.
And me? I was nothing. A discarded mistake. A failed heir. A bloodline anomaly they needed to erase.
Leon gathered a group of trusted warriors. His expression was cold and calculated.
“There’s a rogue spotted near our borders,” he said. “Alpha’s orders: we eliminate the threat immediately.” Then he gave a detailed description of me.
“Find her. Kill her,” he ordered, his voice flat and final.
“Yes, Beta!” the warriors responded, unaware that the rogue they were hunting was once the Alpha’s daughter, the same girl they used to admire.
Leon’s lips curved into a cruel smile.
Only when you’re dead will I have peace.
The warriors picked up my faint scent and entered the forest, tracking with practiced precision. But what they didn’t know was that they had crossed into land ruled by the Northern King–Alpha Asher.
And in Ashborn territory, trespassers never went unnoticed.
It wasn’t long before the Ashborn patrol intercepted them.
“Stop!” the patrol captain barked. “Who are you, and why have you entered Ashborn land?”
“We’re from Black Stone Pack. We’re tracking a rogue werewolf,” their leader said.
“There are no rogues here,” the captain replied coldly. “This is Ashborn territory. Leave now or be treated as enemies.”
The Black Stone warriors hesitated. Their orders were clear: kill Pauline, no exceptions.
Tension crackled in the air.
In a flash, both sides shifted into their wolf forms.
The Ashborn wolves were larger, stronger, more commanding. The clash was brief.
Within minutes, the intruders were defeated, forced back into human form and chained.
The captain approached their leader.
“Who are you hunting?” he demanded, his voice thick with authority.
Before the warriors could respond, Asher arrived.
The air turned heavy.
His towering presence silenced the room. Power radiated from him in suffocating waves. Even chained, the Black Stone wolves
trembled.
“T–The Northern King…” one of them whispered.

Asher stepped up to the leader. His silver eyes glinted with deadly calm.
“Speak,” he said one word, heavy with Alpha compulsion.
The warrior stiffened, unable to resist.
“We were following orders… from Beta Leon,” he stammered. “He said a rogue named Pauline had betrayed the pack. That she was dangerous. He told us to find her–and kill her.”
Asher’s expression darkened.
A deadly aura burst from him–cold, violent, choking the air around him.
No one had ever seen him so furious.
“Leon…” Asher growled, the name like poison on his tongue.
Leon had dared to send men to kill his mate.
Asher’s silver eyes ignited with fury.
He would make sure Pauline knew: those who hurt her would answer for every wound, every betrayal.
And none would be spared.
