Candice’s POV:
After Rosaline left, I walked into Loe Studio.

There were quite a few people inside. I smiled and asked, “I’d like to order a custom gown. May I inquire about the process?”
A young female werewolf stood up, walked over politely, and said, “Hello, Miss. I’m Camilla, the head of this studio. You can just talk to me directly.”
“Hello, my name is Anna.” I shook hands with Camilla out of courtesy. “I’d like a custom gown–not too revealing, as it’s for a rather formal banquet. I want it in red, preferably with some unique design elements. Would that be possible?”
“Oh… It’s possible, but since it’s handmade, the production time will be a bit long. Also, we require a 50% deposit upfront. If you’re okay with that, I can take on the order.” Camilla nodded but seemed a little hesitant./
I nodded and agreed readily. “Sure, no problem. I’ve heard that your studio designs many beautiful gowns, so I wanted to come and see for myself this time.”
“If you’re okay with it, then it’s settled.” Camilla smiled and nodded.
“Great.”
After leaving Loe Studio, I immediately contacted Susan. Twenty minutes later, I met her at a café downstairs from her studio.
“Ms. Reese, you’re arranging to meet me at this time–does that mean there’s progress?” Susan asked directly when she saw me.
“There is.” I nodded and smiled. “I went to Loe Studio today and saw Rosaline. But I told her I was there for a custom gown. As for the designer handling my order, I found out who it is–Loe Studio’s current director. Rosaline trusts her a lot.”
After explaining, I gave a slight nod. “Don’t worry. I’ll find a way to get Rosaline’s competition design drafts from her. I guarantee there won’t be any mistakes.”
“An assistant, huh?” Susan murmured, her lips curving slightly as a satisfied look flashed in her eyes. “Since you’re so confident, Ms. Reese, I’ll be waiting for your good news. Don’t let me down.”
“I won’t.” I looked at Susan and smiled confidently.
Ryan’s POV:
After more than half a month of rest at home, my body was finally starting to feel better. Though I still couldn’t return to the set for the major action scenes, I had rehearsed the dialogue–heavy ones countless times at home–always pulling Yura in for scenes that involved the female lead.
Since the commotion on the day I was discharged from the hospital, Yura’s life had become much quieter. Some of my fans had even started following her on social media. The comment section was always filled with two distinct voices, but Yura didn’t seem to mind, which reassured me a lot.

She had been making an effort to bond with me, and during this time, I had also been brewing a plan.
“Yura, I’m out of medicine. Could you go to the hospital and get some for me?” After my discharge, I still needed to take medication regularly to stabilize my internal organs.
Yura believed me without question. “Sure, I’ll go now.”
It was 4 p.m., and the doctors would be off duty by 5.
As soon as I saw Yura leave, knowing she wouldn’t be back anytime soon, I excitedly ran into my walk–in closet. I took out the things I had prepared in advance and began setting them up.
Half an hour later, while arranging decorations on the wall, I called Yura again. “Yura, on your way back, could you stop by Meet Sugar and buy me two–boxes of mango pudding and a low–sugar Black Forest cake? I’m really craving something sweet.”
“Sure, but I’m still at the hospital picking up your medicine. The cake shop is on the west, so I probably won’t be back until after 7 p.m. Will you be okay waiting?” Yura replied.
“Yes, yes! Take your time. I’m in no rush!” I agreed enthusiastically. The later she came back, the better.
Yura’s POV:
By the time I got home, it was already 8 p.m.
“I’m home,” I called out as I opened the door, but as soon as I stepped inside, I noticed the house was dimly lit.
Instinctively, I turned my head to the left and saw two candles set on the dining table, each accompanied by a glass of red wine. A glass vase sat at the corner of the table, holding a bouquet of gardenias.
In the kitchen, Ryan was busy cooking. The moment he heard me, he quickly turned off the stove and carried a freshly seared steak to the table. While setting it down, he said, “Yura, you’re back! Wash your hands, and let’s eat.”
I slowed my steps, feeling a bit puzzled. Seeing the flowers and candles on the table, I couldn’t help but be surprised. Looking up at him, I asked, “What’s all this? Is today some kind of special occasion?”

Ryan smiled and pulled out a chair for me. Only after I sat down did he walk around to the other side and sit down himself. He looked at me and said, “You’ve been taking care of me ever since I was discharged from the hospital. Even before that, you were looking after me while I was still there. I know it’s been exhausting for you, especially since you’re pregnant. So today, I wanted to make a meal for you. Try the steak I cooked–see how it tastes?”
As he spoke, he pushed the plate of pre–sliced steak in front of him toward me.
A warm feeling rose in my heart. Ryan was a very thoughtful man, and as for me… I guess I did feel something for him.
“It’s delicious. You made so much. Wasn’t it tiring?” Ttook a bite of the steak, carefully chewing it. My eyes couldn’t hide my surprise, and I even nodded in approval of his cooking skills. Besides the steak, the table was also set with fries, ham, and two bowls of creamy, mushroom soup.
Ryan shook his head. “As long as it’s for you, I don’t feel tired at all. Yura, I know you’ve endured a lot these past few days. But don’t worry, as long as I’m here, I won’t let you suffer anymore.”
“You…” I hesitated for a moment, putting down my fork and facing Ryan. Just as I was about to say something, he suddenly stood up, smiling at me. “Yura, wait right here! I’ll be right back!”
I watched in confusion as Ryan ran into the study. A few minutes later, he came back out holding a large bouquet of red roses. Nestled securely in the center of the bouquet was a small ring box.
I was stunned. My heart started pounding wildly. Thump, thump, thump–so loud it sounded like a drum in my ears.
“My Moon Goddess, is he … proposing to you?” Avril gasped in excitement.
Ryan’s POV:
Holding the bouquet carefully, I took a steady step toward Yura, then knelt on one knee. With one hand, I opened the ring box and looked up at her, a gentle smile on my face.
“By the Moon Goddess, Yura. I know you might not fully accept me just yet, but I truly want to take care of you for the rest of my life. I hope you’ll marry me. As for your feelings toward me, I can wait. Will you give me a chance to take care of you and the baby?
“Will you marry me?”
Yura stood still, her gaze shifting between the large bouquet of red roses and the ring box at its center. Finally, she lifted her eyes and met mine.
I felt a little nervous.
After a few seconds of thought, she nodded and smiled at me. “Yes, I’ll marry you.”
I was overjoyed. To be honest, I hadn’t set my expectations too high today, so hearing her say yes was an incredible surprise.
Without hesitation, I took the ring and slid it onto her finger. Then, I shoved the bouquet into her arms and stepped forward, eager to embrace her. But just as reached her, I suddenly froze–too nervous and

Yura couldn’t help but laugh. Setting the roses aside, she walked over without hesitation and hugged me.
At that moment, I felt like the happiest werewolf in the world.
Since she had already agreed, I decided to strike while the iron was hot. The very next day, I persistently followed up with my agent until he allowed me to announce the successful proposal online, including tagging Yura’s account.
She didn’t object to any of it.
In just three hours, the news quickly rose to the top of the trending list and even became viral.
Fans quickly flooded both my and Yura’s Twitter
counts with comments. While there were still a fair number of people protesting or expressing their disapproval of Yura, the majority of the reactions were filled with well–wishes. After all, my name was well–known, and the news of my proposal had already spread widely.
Timothy’s POV:
I returned to the mountains, continuing my work as a volunteer teacher. After the earthquake, the newly built classrooms were in much better condition than before. But despite that, I felt no joy.
The dormitory provided the teachers with a television that was currently playing entertainment news. Absentmindedly, I glanced at the screen–only to see Ryan and Yura’s faces. It was about their wedding
announcement.
I froze, staring at Yura’s photo on the screen, a bitter ache swelling in my chest.
So, in the end… I still couldn’t marry the woman I loved.
The more I watched, the more restless and irritable I became. Frustrated, I grabbed the can of beer beside me and took a deep, heavy swig. Ever since I lost Yura, drinking had become a habit. Only alcohol could keep me numb–make me forget, even if just for a little while.
“Timothy.” A voice called from outside the door. It was Bianca Lander, another volunteer teacher in the mountains and my colleague.
I ignored her and took another drink. Without waiting for an invitation, Bianca pushed the door open and stepped inside. “Timothy, what’s wrong with you?”

Seeing Timothy drinking alone again, I frowned and walked over, cautiously placing a hand on his shoulder.
But he shoved my hand away and took another deep swig of his beer.
I turned my head and saw the entertainment news playing on the television. Only then did I finally understand.
I liked Timothy a lot, but I knew he once had a destince mate. He and Yura had severed their Moon Goddess bond for reasons unknown to me. I had thought that maybe this was my chance to get closer to him, but ever since he returned, he had been gloomy and withdrawn.
I wasn’t sure if it was the pain of breaking the bond or if he simply couldn’t let go of Yura.
Seeing him like this made my heart feel unbearably heavy. This wasn’t the Timothy I remembered–the polite, composed teacher I had admired.
Pressing my lips together, I sat down beside him and hesitantly patted his back. “Timothy, don’t be sad. I- I think Yura must still care about you too. Maybe she’s hurting just as much…
I wanted to comfort him, but the more I spoke, the more incoherent I became. I wasn’t sure if he was still somewhat sober or already completely drunk, but his face was flushed as he shook his head with a self- deprecating smile. “It’s fine. I was the one who gave up on her in the first place. Now, seeing her find happiness should be enough for me. But… but…
་་
His fingers curled tightly around the edge of the table. “But my heart still hurts…”
A man well over six feet tall, and yet his voice trembled with unshed tears. His eyes were red–I couldn’t tell if it was from the alcohol or the sheer weight of his grief.
The news continued playing on the television, but Wu Tianhe, overwhelmed by emotion, suddenly threw his beer can to the ground. Moments later, he furrowed his brows sharply and let out a low, pained growl. His right leg–once healed–was now marked by a large, spreading patch of red. It looked like his old injury had flared up again.
Seeing the intense pain on his face, I gasped in shock and immediately bent down, my voice filled with concern. “Timothy! Timothy, what’s wrong?”
When I saw the alarming redness on his leg, my breath hitched. I wanted to call for help, but Timothy clearly needed someone by his side. And with the villagers all asleep, there was no one else to turn to. Gritting my teeth, I braced myself and helped him up, slinging his arm over my shoulder.
He was taller than me, and most of his weight bore down on me, making every step difficult. But somehow, I managed to half–carry, half–drag him out of the teachers‘ dormitory.
After what felt like an eternity, we finally reached the mountain clinic. I pounded urgently on the door of the on–call room. “Doctor! Doctor!”
A light flickered on inside. Moments later, a werewolf doctor in a white coat opened the door, eyeing me and Timothy with a puzzled expression.

The doctor wasted no time, helping me get Timothy seated. He pressed gently on the swollen, reddened area of Timothy’s leg. Timothy clenched his jaw, his brows tightening as he suppressed a groan of pain.
“Has his right leg been injured before?”
Hearing the werewolf doctor’s question, I hesitated for moment before nodding. “Yes… During the earthquake in the mountains, his right leg was crushed under debris. It took a lot to save him. Doctor, how bad is it? Is there a way to treat him?“,
The doctor pondered for a moment before shaking his head. “It looks like his old injury has flared up again, but given the limited medical resources here, this clinic isn’t equipped to treat his leg properly. If possible, you should take him to a hospital–in the city for a thorough examination and treatment. For now, I can apply some external medication, bandage it, and stabilize it.”
I glanced at Timothy, worry tightening in my chest. I knew all too well how difficult things were in the mountains. But faced with no other choice, I could only nod. “Alright… Thank you, doctor.”
Yura’s POV:
“Yura, don’t be nervous. Prenatal checkups are simple, and I’m right here with you. Everything will be fine,” my mother reassured me, her voice filled with concern.
“Mom, I still feel uneasy … ” I murmured, placing my right hand over my abdomen.
Life in the Storm Pack had been good–plenty of food, restful sleep–and I’d even gained a little weight. Even if Ryan’s mother had her reservations about me, now that both families had agreed on the marriage, she had no choice but to try and accept me as her future daughter–in–law.
Today was supposed to be a routine prenatal checkup, yet ever since morning, I’d felt inexplicably unsettled. It wasn’t fear of the checkup itself—just an ominous feeling that something was about to happen.
My mother mistook my unease for nerves and tried to comfort me with a warm smile. “It’s nothing, really. Just a quick checkup, and then we’ll be heading home.”
I nodded slowly, forcing myself to push aside the anxiety weighing on my chest.
As we arrived at the hospital entrance, just as we were about to step inside, a sudden shriek erupted beside
- me.
“It’s you!” A young she–wolf wearing a baseball cap lifted her head and hurled insults at me.
“You old hag! Do you even know how old you are? Do you still believe that you can attract someone significantly younger? Do you truly believe that everyone is within your reach? Put some clothes on!”

My mother and I were startled by the sudden appearance of the young female werewolf. Beneath her baseball cap was a youthful, delicate face that looked no older than 15 or 16.
Feeling a bit lost, I froze for a moment before asking, “Who are you? Have we met before?
My mother frowned and pointed at the girl in the baseball cap, scolding. “Oh dear, young lady, you’re quite sharp–tongued for your age! You should learn to respect others. What did my daughter ever do to you for you to insult her like this?”
The female werewolf in the baseball cap spat on the ground. “Ich, you shameless wretch! How dare you throw yourself at Ryan? What the hell did you do to make him so crazy about you? If it weren’t for you, he wouldn’t have gotten into that car accident or fallen behind on his filming schedule. His fame is fading! Do you know that?!”
The more I listened, the more shocked I became. I couldn’t believe such cruel words were coming from a young girl. And since she mentioned Ryan, she was probably one of his fans.
She seemed to get angrier as she spoke, and suddenly, she pushed me hard. “Just go die, you filthy woman!”
Caught off guard by the sudden push, I instinctively stepped back, but my ankle twisted, and I lost my balance, falling to the ground–landing directly on my stomach.
A sharp pain shot through my abdomen, and I instinctively clutched my stomach. Beads of cold sweat broke out on my forehead.
“My baby… My baby … “I groaned.
My mother was startled and rushed over to help me up, but the moment she saw bright red blood seeping out under me, her face turned pale with shock. Terrified, she quickly called out to a passing werewolf doctor.
“Doctor! Doctor! Please save my daughter! Save her–she’s pregnant!”
The werewolf doctor immediately grasped the urgency of the situation. He and a few werewolf nurses rushed out with a stretcher. They lifted me onto it and rushed me toward the operating room.
Celia’s POV:
The female werewolf in the baseball cap was also frightened. Her first instinct was to flee, but I immediately grabbed her wrist. Gritting my teeth, I snapped, “Where are your morals, you vile little thing? My daughter’s five months along–if she loses that baby because of you, I’ll go straight to the police! You’ll be held responsible for her loss!”
Hearing that, the girl’s face went pale, and she looked like she was about to burst into tears.
Because of the commotion, the hospital’s werewolf security guards quickly arrived. Without hesitation, they restrained the young werewolf in the baseball cap and took her away, finally restoring order to the hospital lobby.
I was furious and anxious, but the most important thing right now was to rush to the operating room and wait for news about Yura.

I suddenly thought of Ryan and quickly dialed his number. “Hello? Ryan, you need to come to the hospital right away! Yura… Yura was just scolded by a little girl, and that girl even pushed her. Now… now we don’t even know if the baby will make it. Please hurry!”
Ryan’s POV:
1 had just recently returned to work when I got Celia’s call about Yura. The moment I heard something had happened to her, nothing else mattered. I barely managed to say a few words to the director before rushing to the hospital.
As soon as I saw Celia outside the operating room, I rushed over and asked anxiously, “How is Yura?”
“Ryan… Ryan…” Celia was so nervous that her hands were shaking. The moment she saw me, she stood up. Tears welled in her eyes as she looked nervously at the closed operating room doors. “You’re finally here. Yura’s been in there for more than two hours. I don’t know how she’s doing. The doctor hasn’t come out even once. Ryan, do you think the baby will … will … ”
The more Celia spoke, the more her sentences became incoherent. Though I was anxious, I knew I had to calm her down. Once she calmed down, I finally asked, “What exactly happened? When you and Yura came to the hospital this morning, everything was fine. I even asked her about it.”
Celia took a deep breath, composing herself before explaining everything to me in detail.
As I listened, my brows knitted together, and I let out a heavy sigh. A sense of frustration settled in my chest -I never imagined one of my own fans would go this far.
I slowly clenched my fists, taking a long moment before speaking. “Don’t worry. I’ll take care of this. For now, let’s wait for the doctor and see how Yura is doing.”
Celia nodded, and the two of us sat down, anxiously waiting. About ten minutes later, the werewolf doctor finally emerged from the operating room.
Celia and I rushed over. With worry written all over her face, she asked urgently, “Doctor, how is my daughter? Is she okay?”

The werewolf doctor exhaled in relief and said, “The mother is already five months into her pregnancy. Fortunately, we got her to the operating room in time. Any later, and we might have lost the baby, not to mention risking serious complications for her health. She’s stable now but will require complete bed rest during recovery. Emotional stress must be avoided at all costs. Keep her happy and relaxed.”
“Thank you, doctor. Thank you so much,” Celia sighed in relief, bowing repeatedly. “Thank you, doctor. Thank you!”
I exhaled, finally able to relax now that Yura was safe.
Not long after, the werewolf nurses wheeled Yura out. She lay pale on the stretcher. Her eyes remained shut, likely still under the effects of the anesthesia. Seeing her like this made my heart ache.
Yura was transferred to a regular ward. Noticing that Celia looked exhausted, I suggested, “Why don’t you go home and get some rest? I’ll stay here and take care of Yura. Don’t worry, I’ve already taken leave from work, so it’s fine.”
Celia was clearly hesitant, but seeing my sincerity and determination, she nodded and said, “Alright then … I’ll leave this to you. But there won’t be another incident like that, right?”
Seeing the worry on Celia’s face, guilt welled up inside me. I shook my head and reassured her, “Don’t worry. I promise something like that won’t happen again.”
After Celia left, I sat by Yura’s bedside, holding her hand as it rested beside her. She looked even more fragile than before, and my heart ached at the sight.
How much have you endured?
The thought of everything she had just gone through left a bitter feeling in my chest. Unable to shake the frustration, I stood up and walked over to the window in the corner of the room. Taking out my phone, I dialed my assistant’s number.
“I’m at the hospital. Let the director know I’ll be back later … Yes, Yúra was pushed by a fan and fell. She almost lost the baby. I need you to help me release a statement … Alright, I’ll send you what I want to say. Please have the team refine it before posting.”
After my assistant agreed, I ended the call and turned back to Yura, still unconscious. I sighed.
She had been through so much because of me. From now on, I would do everything in my power to make it up to her.
My assistant worked quickly, and about an hour later, the studio released an official statement. I also posted on my Twitter, “My previous car accident was entirely due to my own lack of focus–it had nothing to do with anyone around me or my family. I hope those who support me can be rational fans. Take care of yourselves first before worrying about others.”
The tone of my statement might have appeared to be a bit harsh, but I didn’t care. I wouldn’t allow anyone to harm the people closest to me.
Within just half an hour, the tweet had already gathered over two thousand comments. Most of the top ones came from fans, and they were generally supportive. Many urged others to respect my privacy and not

Ryan smiled, sitting beside me as he gently comforted me. “Don’t worry, the baby is fine. Yura, this was my fault. I should have been there to protect you. But I promise, I’ve already had my assistant put out a statement. What happened today won’t happen again.”
Hearing that, I couldn’t help but feel touched. I knew it wasn’t fair to blame Ryan for what happened–no celebrity could control all their fans. But the fact that he was willing to go this far for me made me truly grateful.

Jasper’s POV:
Time flew by, and the filming of The Call of the Wild was finally approaching its end. Naomi and I had developed great on–screen chemistry, but ever since Rosaline went abroad, she hadn’t been at the company or on set. Lately, I couldn’t help but get distracted because I miss her.
Today, we were shooting one of the final major scenes, which required the male lead to be suspended on wires. After getting strapped in, the rig slowly lifted me higher, carrying me up into the air.
Distracted by thoughts of Rosaline, I lost focus for a moment. My movements were off, and before I knew it, I slipped right off the wires. While everyone else was still processing what had happened, Naomi had already rushed forward, calling out, “Jasper!”
The director quickly ordered someone to bring a crash mat, but they were a step too late. At the last second, Naomi reached out and caught me as I fell, using half her body to catch me as I fell.
She winced in pain, her brows tightly furrowed. The moment I came to my senses, I quickly got up from the crash mat, looking at her with worry and guilt.
Naomi’s forehead was covered in sweat, and she was in so much pain that she couldn’t even move. The crew rushed over to check on her, and when the ambulance arrived, they helped the paramedics lift her onto a stretcher and take her to the hospital for examination and treatment. I couldn’t help but feel frustrated with myself, but because I was worried about Naomi’s injuries, I went to the hospital with her.
The ambulance arrived at the hospital, where the werewolf doctor examined Naomi’s injuries and scolded, “How could you be so careless? You have a moderate bone fracture–it’ll take at least three to five months before you can even start moving properly. Even after that, you’ll need complete rest with no heavy lifting. Young people these days… Tsk… I’ll have the nurse apply bandages and a cast. You should stay in the hospital for a few days for observation.”
Naomi was momentarily taken aback before smiling faintly. “It was my own fault. I hurt my arm while filming. I’ll follow your advice, but how long will I need to stay in the hospital? I still have a few scenes left to shoot … ”
The werewolf doctor sighed and shook his head, clearly exasperated. “With your injury, you should stop worrying about filming for now. How long you stay depends on how well your arm heals. If you rush your recovery and the injury flares up again after you’re discharged, who’s going to take responsibility?
“Oh, and one more thing–you injured your right arm. Once the cast is on, you won’t be able to move it for a while or carry anything. I think it’d be best if someone could help take care of you,” the werewolf doctor said as he looked up.
Seeing me standing next to Naomi, he added, “Make sure to look after your girlfriend for the next few days. It won’t be easy for her to manage on her own.”
Naomi stiffened for a moment before quickly correcting him. “You’ve got it wrong–he’s not…
I was about to say something, but before I could, the werewolf doctor waved his hand dismissively. “Alright, alright, I don’t need to know the details. Lane, you came at the right time. Take her to get a cast and bandages. Moderate fracture–assign her a room.”

“Naomi, there’s no need to be so polite.” I hesitated for a moment before smiling apologetically. “If you hadn’t risked yourself to save me, I’d be the one lying here instead. No matter how you look at it, I should be the one apologizing. Staying here with you is the least I can do, so don’t worry about it.”
Naomi smiled but then hesitated. “Oh, Jasper, about what the doctor said earlier… don’t take it too seriously.”
I pressed my lips together briefly before smiling. “It’s fine, really. Why would I take it seriously? It was just a misunderstanding. Besides, we’re good friends, right? Don’t worry, I won’t mind.”
Naomi’s POV:
Good friends… only good friends?
A wave of disappointment washed over me as I lowered my gaze. My hand, resting on the blanket, tensed slightly, my thumb unconsciously pressing against my fingers.
I had already come to terms with it–I knew Jasper liked Rosaline. I had decided to keep my feelings buried forever, never saying it out loud.
However, upon hearing him say that, I found myself reluctant to accept it.
Maybe this was the only time I’d ever have the courage to face my feelings for him.
“Jasper.”
“Here.”
We spoke almost simultaneously as he finished peeling and handed me an apple. A brief silence followed before Jasper smiled, his expression light and relaxed as he looked at me.
“You go first. What is it?”
I met his eyes, my heart racing. I knew there were things I shouldn’t say–but if I didn’t say them now, I might never get another chance.
In the end, impulse won over reason.
I swallowed hard, forcing down my nerves as I spoke rapidly but clearly to Jasper, “J–Jasper, about what the doctor said earlier… I don’t want that to just be a misunderstanding. I’m in love with you. I know you have feelings for Rosaline, but I still want to try. I want to be with you!”

For a moment, I was at a loss. I had never even considered the possibility that Naomi had feelings for me. To me, she was just someone I needed to take care of–like a little sister. Nothing more.
After a moment of thought, I carefully chose my words. “Naomi, in my heart, we’re really good friends. I can help you improve professionally, and I’ll always support you. Isn’t it better to keep things the way they are?”
The light in Naomi’s eyes dimmed instantly. She stayed silent for a moment before nodding and softly saying, “Alright, I understand.”
I wanted to say something to ease the awkwardness, but when I opened my mouth, I realized I had no words.
After a while, I could only grab an apple and place it in Naomi’s free hand. I made an excuse, saying, “Naomi, I just remembered–I need to inform Mr. Cooper about your injury. So … I can’t stay with you at the hospital for now. Get some rest, and I’ll come by tomorrow.”
Without waiting for a response, I stood up and walked out of the ward without looking back.
I hoped she understood–there was never a possibility of us being together.
Wendy’s POV:
I’ve been staying at the plastic surgery hospital for quite a while now. When I slit my wrists back then, I didn’t hold back, so the wounds were deep. Even after returning from abroad, I had to keep applying the ointment I brought from the hospital for a while to help them heal gradually.
During this time, I also kept an eye on Rosaline and Caden. When I found out they had gone to Phoshire together, I knew my chance had come.
I immediately contacted the connections I had arranged at the police station and personally went to the prison to negotiate with the guards.
There, I saw Heidi again. She looked even more haggard than the last time we met, but the moment she saw me, her eyes lit up.
“You’re finally here! When are you getting me out of here?” Heidi looked at me eagerly.
“What’s the hurry?” I said with a faint smile. Right now, Heidi saw me as her only lifeline. As long as it meant leaving this place, she’d be willing to do anything.
I calmly took a key out of my bag and quietly placed it in Heidi’s palm.

“Okay, okay.” Heidi quickly nodded and tried to pull her hand back.

I immediately grabbed her wrist. “I’ve given you the key, but you promised me you’d tell me everything. If you don’t, I’ll drag you back the same way I let you out. Clear?”
Heidi was taken aback momentarily but quickly nodded in agreement. “As long as you get me out of the prison, I’ll tell you everything–no secrets!”
Hearing her promise, I smiled in satisfaction, released her hand, and turned to leave the prison.
Heidi’s POV:
I relaxed my fist, staring at the key in my palm, my heart practically bursting with joy.
Finally, the evening came. I waited for the right moment, following Wendy’s instructions from earlier. As the werewolf guards switched shifts, I quietly took out the key and unlocked the prison gate, moving as quietly as possible.
I had been here for a long time and had already figured out the locations of most of the surveillance cameras. Finally, I successfully reached the spot Wendy mentioned–the perfect blind spot, with a building blocking the view, where the werewolf guards on rotation never bothered to check.
I shifted into wolf form and quickly jumped over the wall. As soon as I landed, I saw a white sedan parked in front of me. I rushed over, transformed back into human form, opened the car door, and sat in the back seat, only to find Wendy sitting inside, leaning back in the seat with her eyes closed.
After hearing the sound, Wendy slowly spoke, “You’re out? Let’s go.”
The driver nodded, and as the car pulled away, the streetlights glided past the window, fading behind us. Staring at the passing view, I felt like I’d been given a second chance at life.
“Where are we going?” I asked Wendy, looking at her.
“You’ll know when we get there,” she said calmly.
Half an hour later, the car stopped in the suburbs. I got out, still a little confused, and was immediately pulled by Wendy into a villa. Inside, the place was full of dust, clearly showing that no one had lived there for a long time.
“What is this place?”
Wendy ignored my question and crossed her arms, looking at me. “I’ve kept my promise and got you out. Now, you should tell me the details of when Caden and that Tessa were kidnapped, right? You should understand, I’m not doing this out of charity.”
“You—” I immediately became alert, realizing why Wendy had brought me here. If I didn’t tell her about Caden and Tessa, I might end up dead here today, without even knowing why.
Wendy assisted me in my escape from prison–at this point, what would she not dare to do?

Heidi took a deep breath. “Okay, I’ll tell you everything But after today, you have to help me leave. I don’t want to stay in Rivemon anymore. I want to go abroad, to a safe place. Otherwise, how do I know that after you hear everything, you won’t just send me back to prison?”
She dared to make demands with me?
I instinctively squinted, but eventually, my brows relaxed, and I nodded lightly in agreement with Heidi’s request. “Alright, as long as you tell me the whole story, I promise you’ll leave here unharmed.”
But in the next second, I coldly warned her, “But I suggest you don’t try any tricks. If you lie to me, you should know what the consequences will be.”
Hearing this, Heidi finally relaxed. She calmed herself and then began to tell me the details of how Caden and Tessa, were kidnapped and taken to the cabin.
“That’s how it happened.”
After speaking for over half an hour, Heidi suddenly stopped, refusing to continue.
“I’ll tell you this much for now. Once I’m safe abroad, I’ll call you and share the rest. I promise.”
I was taken aback for a moment, casting a disdainful lock at Heidi, but I didn’t say anything. Instead, I opened my bag and took out a card and a plane ticket from my wallet.
“This is a ferry ticket to Meldoria, the one leaving at midnight, and there are three hours left. I’ll have someone to take you there. The money on this card will be enough for you to live in Meldoria, but if I find out you’re lying to me, you’ll be coming back, understand?”
Heidi smiled, took the card from my hand, and openly pocketed it. “Don’t worry, Ms. Crawford. Once I’m safely abroad, I’ll tell you everything. Just wait for my call.”
Two days later, while I was relaxing at home, I received a call from an unfamiliar number.
I answered but didn’t speak, waiting until Heidi’s voice came through. “How are you, Ms. Crawford?”
“Seems like you’ve settled in. So, what about the rest? Can you tell me now?” I casually twirled a lock of my hair. I already knew it was Heidi–no one else would be so secretive.
I could hear Heidi’s soft voice on the other end, talking quietly. I stayed silent, listening as she told me everything.
The details were enough for me.
Rosaline, you’re in for a rough time ahead.

just arrived under Big Bendy, planning to take in the sights, when Caden suddenly got a call from Yale.
“What’s wrong?” Caden frowned slightly, clearly irritated.
Yale’s voice came through urgently on the other end of the line. “This is bad. I sent someone to check on Heidi’s status at the prison today, but it turns out she’s not there. It looks like she escaped!”
“What?!” Caden’s brows furrowed instantly, his voice filled with anger. He instinctively glanced at me, took a moment to calm himself before asking in a low voice, “How long has she been gone?”
then
Yale answered cautiously, telling the truth. “I asked the werewolf guards, and they said she’s been missing for three days now. They don’t know where Heidi is.”
Caden’s gaze instantly turned cold and heavy. He spoke in a chilling tone, “I don’t care what method we use. Get someone to find her right now. We need to bring Heidi back!”
After Caden hung up the phone, I quickly asked, “What Heidi escaped from prison?”
Caden let out a heavy sigh and nodded. “Yes, she disappeared three days ago.”
I frowned, feeling completely surprised.
Heidi was just a pawn in Everett’s game. Since she was sent to prison, there was no way she could escape without someone taking the risk to help her.
I looked at Caden, who seemed upset, and calmly reassured him. “Don’t worry. Heidi’s only support in Rivemon is Everett. Besides, there are werewolf guards on duty in the prison. If no one was helping her, she definitely couldn’t have escaped.
“But it seems clear that the person helping her wasn’t Everett, because Heidi no longer holds any value for him. You should ask Yale to check who has visited the prison recently and whether there were any suspicious actions by Heidi before her escape.”
While that made sense, I couldn’t figure it out right away.
Who else would have any use for Heidi, and who would go through such trouble and risk to help her escape?
It was too strange.

Caden slowly calmed down, relaxed his brow, and reassuringly said to me, “Alright, you don’t need to worry about this. I’ve already sent Yale to find Heidi’s whereabouts. Your main focus now is to rest and get ready for the design competition. Go and win that awar
I couldn’t help but laugh, wrapping my arms around Caden and softly saying, “Okay, okay, I got it. You don’t have to worry about me.”
Caden really enjoyed the playful, almost coquettish tone I used and couldn’t help but smile. He gently lifted my chin and kissed my bottom lip lightly, and then pinched my cheek gently.
“You’re my wife. Who else should I care about if not you? Leave all those troublesome things to me, and from now on, you can just relax and enjoy life.”
I lowered my gaze slightly but kept my eyes on Caden, eventually nodding. He looked at me, unable to hold back, and kissed me passionately.
Just as we were lost in the moment, my phone suddenly rang.
“Hold on.” I gently pushed Caden away, pulled out my phone, saw the number, and glanced at him.
“It’s Michelle.”
“Then answer it,” Caden said calmly.
I pressed the answer button and put the phone to my ear. “Michelle, what’s up?”
“Ah, Rosaline!” Michelle’s sweet and lively voice came through. “So, here’s the thing–tomorrow is my birthday, and my dad is hosting a birthday dinner. I wanted to ask if you and Caden have time to come. We haven’t seen each other in a while, and my dad mentioned that he misses Caden.”
Michelle referred to Caden by his first name, which might be typical of Fostrau’s warm nature, but I also knew what kind of feelings she harbored for him. Hearing her say this left me feeling a bit uneasy.
I paused for a moment, about to refuse, when I heard Michelle say, “You didn’t say anything, so I’m taking that as a yes. See you tomorrow night at 8. Don’t be late!
“Alright, we’ll be there on time,” I sighed helplessly.
Hearing the change in my tone, Caden asked in confusion, “What’s wrong? Why did she call?”
“Michelle said tomorrow night is her birthday, and Duke Gerald Daffron is hosting a birthday dinner for
her. She wants us both to come.”
I sighed again, glanced at Caden, and suddenly felt a twinge of jealousy. I couldn’t help but teasingly say, “Someone’s got ulterior motives.”
Caden chuckled when he heard that, walking over to wrap his arm around my shoulder. “Are you jealous? Don’t worry. Even if we go to her birthday dinner, I’ll only be with you. I won’t even spare a glance at any other woman.”
“Okay, okay.” I felt a bit shy, knowing he’d read my mind, and gently pushed him away. “Who said anything like that? Let’s just head back.”

After hanging up the phone, a sense of unease washed over me. Even though it had been my idea to invite Rosaline and Caden to the birthday dinner, just thinking about how they would appear together at the party the next day made me feel a little sad.
Yes, I had fallen for Caden at first sight, and my wolf was certain of it.
Although we weren’t destined mates, I just liked him, and I wanted him.
But why had Caden been Rosaline’s fiancé?
Ever since I had seen Caden last time, I couldn’t stop thinking about him. There were handsome men in the Fostrau wolf pack, but I hadn’t seen anyone as good looking as Caden.
I couldn’t think of Caden without smiling these days. In my dreams, he was always there. Every time I closed my eyes, I could see his face.
But I also knew how painful it was to miss someone, which was why I wanted to take advantage of the opportunity at the birthday dinner to see Caden again even if it was just to talk to him.
But I was hoping for more than just talk.
I knew that I wanted to keep seeing Caden, to do many, many things with him–far beyond just being “acquaintances.”
But every time I thought about Caden being with Rosaline, especially since he was her fiancé, I felt a pang of discomfort. Although Rosaline wasn’t a bad person, when it came to matters of the heart, who could make sense of them?
Camilla’s POV:
Ever since Anna came to me to have a custom dress made, she had been showing up at Loe Studio every few days. She often initiated conversations with me as well. Thankfully, I remembered Rosaline’s advice and kept my distance, not being overly friendly or close, fearing that this woman might have some ulterior motives.
One day, Anna came again, holding a basket of fruit.
“Great work, everyone!” Anna knocked on the door and walked into the studio with a smile, greeting everyone as if she was very familiar with them, and distributed the fruit to the team.
“I came to check on the dress today and brought some fruit for you all. Don’t be shy. Help yourselves.”
Every time Anna came, she was always so friendly that nobody paid attention to her real intentions. Some of the designers even enjoyed chatting with her, thinking she was a great client.
Except for me.

Anna placed a few oranges on my desk. I barely looked up, offering her a polite smile. “Ms. Anna, you really don’t have to do this. You always bring something when you visit. At this rate, our designers are going to get spoiled.”
“It’s nothing.” Anna settled into the chair beside me, her smile as warm as ever. “I don’t have much to do here anyway. Besides, my family is planning to start a design company, so I figured I’d come and learn a thing or two.”
I simply smiled, maintaining my usual courtesy. Every time Anna came by, I made sure to stay on guard.
Rosaline had warned me about it, and she was never wrong.
“Learn a thing or two? Aside from Loe, who’s our main designer, the rest of us are more or less on the same level.” I casually brought up Loe’s name.
“Oh, right Anna nodded as if she just remembered something. “I heard before that Loe is the most well- known designer in your studio–and also the owner. I actually wanted to meet him in person, but strangely, he’s never around when I visit.”
“Loe’s really busy. He barely comes back to the studio,” I said casually.
Anna frowned slightly, then asked in a casual yet seemingly curious manner, “Hmm? But I heard there’s a fashion design competition coming up. My friend told me that Loe is practically a legend in the industry and wins the competition almost every year. So what about this year? Is he competing?”
I had been only half–listening while working, but the moment she brought up Loe and the competition, something about her tone put me on alert. It was difficult not to feel like she was fishing for information.
My pen paused slightly before I lowered my gaze, acting as if nothing had happened. “I have no idea. Loe rarely comes to the studio, and he doesn’t tell us these things.”
“Oh… “Anna nodded thoughtfully and didn’t press further. She only glanced at me from time to time without saying anything.
I took a mental note of her behavior before peeling an orange she had brought and eating a few slices. Suddenly, as if impulsively, I said, “Excuse me, I need to use the restroom.”
With that, I got up and quickly walked to the restroom, stepping into a stall and locking the door. Taking out my phone, I sent Rosaline a message.
“Rosaline, that Ms. Anna you mentioned asked me about Loe today. She wanted to know if he was going to compete in the fashion design competition this year. She even said she wanted to see your work. What should we do next?”
Rosaline replied almost instantly.
“Whatever she wants to know, just tell her something vague. Make up a gown design if you have to. She’s gone through all this trouble just to find out what I’ll be showcasing at the competition. Camilla, I know you’re the best at handling this. I’ll leave it to you.”

Anna perked up immediately, her eyes lighting up. “Wait, are you saying Loc is going to compete in the design competition?”

Anna nodded eagerly. “I promise I won’t tell a soul!”
Lowering my voice, I leaned in slightly and told her, “The design I saw was a deep red evening gown with structured shoulders, pearls, and lace–like embellishments–a vintage European style from the medieval era. It’s truly exquisite, exactly like what you described. Hey, why not design your gown to match this style?
“Yes! That would be amazing!” Anna nodded enthusiastically, nearly bouncing in her seat.

I turned to Caden, who was sitting next to me, and reminded him, “Michelle just sent me a message. She invited us to her birthday party at 8pm tomorrow. This location seems like a villa in the suburbs. I’ve been there with her once before.”
Caden pondered for a moment before he nodded. “I don’t really want to go to the banquet tomorrow. I’m not that familiar with her either. Why don’t you go by yourself?”
I looked at him, feeling warm inside my heart at his response. It’s obvious that he’s worried that I might feel uncomfortable.
This man had finally started learning to consider my feelings.
Since he had already said so, I didn’t need to act reserved and said, “Alright, then I’ll be back a bit later. I’ll call you when I’m on my way back.”
At precisely 8pm, I arrived at Michelle’s birthday banquet.
This villa, located in the suburbs, was owned by Duke Gerald Daffron and was already packed with luxury cars. From a distance, I saw Michelle dressed in an elegant gown, welcoming the well–dressed daughters of high–ranked werewolf packs.
As I approached her, Michelle’s eyes lit up momentarily, but she hesitated when she saw that I came alone
“Is Caden not coming?” she asked.
I shook my head. The smile on her face disappeared, and she looked down in disappointment.
I sighed lightly and walked up to her. Pretending not to notice anything. I handed her the gift bag and asked her, “What’s wrong? It’s your birthday today, but you don’t look happy. Here, it’s a birthday gift for you.”
Michelle looked up and forced a smile. She received the gift, saying, “Thank you. You always give me the things I like. I’m just a little tired. That’s all.”
I nodded without saying much. I took a glass of champagne and took a sip.
“Such a beautiful lady.” I looked up and saw a handsome werewolf standing in front of Michelle and me.
I thought he was here for Michelle. As I was about to step aside, he stopped me and introduced himself.
“I’m Joel, the grandson of the current Alpha, Cornelius. May I have the honor of a dance with you?”
“Me?” I pointed at myself, slightly surprised.
If Joel was indeed the grandson of the current Alpha, then that meant he was an actual prince?”
Michelle glanced between me and Joel. She seemed about to say something, but she didn’t.

I told myself repeatedly, and looking at Joel’s gaze, it wasn’t right to be overly rude to this prince since it’s not our country. Nothing could happen.
I nodded, “Alright, but I’m not a great dancer. I hope I won’t embarrass you.”
Joel smiled immediately as I nodded and responded like a gentleman, “It’s okay. Dancing with such a beauty is an honor in itself.”
He led me to the center of the ballroom, and as the music started, I placed my hand on his shoulder and started to dance gracefully to the rhythm.”
Joel’s movements were very intimate as he held my waist. He gazed at me with admiration and praised, “I didn’t expect you to be this beautiful, and you’re such a good dancer. You were being humble earlier.”
“It’s nothing special,” I replied with a polite smile and said nothing else after. I just wanted to finish the dance as quickly as possible.
What I didn’t expect was that among the guests, there was a journalist from our country that saw me and Joel dancing together. He captured and wrote a sensational article before posting it online. In no time, it soon became a trendy search.
And I had no idea at all.
Caden’s POV:
I was at home, waiting for Rosaline to come back, when I scrolled through my phone and saw the trending topics of her dancing with Prince Joel.
I clicked on it and saw the photos from the banquet. My expression darkened instantly, especially when I noticed how close Joel was to Rosaline, which made me feel incredibly uncomfortable..
…
This woman what the hell is she up
to?!
I put down my phone, feeling more and more frustrated the longer I thought about it. In the end, I grabbed my jacket and went out.
I needed to see for myself just what exactly this Prince Joel was trying to do!

The banquet was winding down. Joel and I had already finished our dance and returned to the lounge area. Still, he followed closely behind, asking me one question after another.
Though I felt a bit uneasy, I reminded myself to be polite to the prince. So, I answered his questions with a smile, one by one.
It wasn’t until I finally found Michelle and told her I was heading out that Joel, apparently gathering his courage, called out, “It’s been a pleasure meeting you tonight. Would you mind giving me your number or another way to stay in touch? I’d love to chat again sometime.”
He said that just as I stepped outside the ballroom doors.
I turned back to face him. His eyes were filled with hopeful anticipation. Offering him a polite smile, I gently said, “I’m sorry, but I’m only here in Fostrau on a short work trip. As for keeping in touch, I’m not really comfortable with that sort of thing. So, probably not necessary. I hope you understand.”
Joel wanted to say something else, but before he could, a thunderous voice boomed from nearby –“Rosaline!”
I froze for half a second. Caden was storming toward me with a look that could melt steel.
Joel turned toward the sound, a puzzled frown crossing his face.
Oddly enough, I felt a sense of relief wash over me at the sight of Caden. It looked like I had a way out of this awkward situation after all. But still-
“What are you doing here?” I asked, confused. “I haven’t even called you yet.”
Caden didn’t answer. He just marched over, grabbed my hand without a word, and pulled me behind him protectively. With a glance over his shoulder, he said in a low, commanding tone, “Let’s go. You’re coming home with me.”
I sighed inwardly. So he was jealous again. Fine. I’d handle it later.
Just as I was about to follow Caden, Joel had the nerve to speak up. “You can’t take her!”
Caden froze mid–step. Then he turned around slowly, amusement flickering in his eyes but there was something dangerous in his expression too.
“Excuse me?” He said, his voice calm but laced with threat.
“I said, let her go,” Joel insisted, standing tall and arguing, “I met her first–and she doesn’t even know who you are.”
She doesn’t know me?” Caden looked genuinely stunned before letting out a sharp, mirthless laugh.
He released a forceful aura, the kind only an Alpha like him could radiate. Joel instinctively took a step back.
“You’re an Alpha?” he asked, visibly shocked.

Caden reached out and jabbed a finger into Joel’s shoulder, locking eyes with him, cold as ice. “Did she tell you she didn’t know me, or did you just see that yourself? Listen here, buddy–Rosaline is mine. She’s my fiancée. I don’t care how you felt tonight, but you’d better stay away from her.”
With that, he pulled me away without another glance.
Caden walked fast–too fast. I was in heels and struggling to keep up. “Caden, slow down! Hey, I can’t keep up!”
た
He didn’t answer, didn’t even look back. But his pace did case a little. When we got to the car, though, he was still wearing that stormy expression. Not a single word passed between us as he drove. The silence was loud.
I sat in the passenger seat, nerves prickling. I knew that look too well, and I couldn’t help the twist of unease in my stomach.
“What’s going on?” I finally asked. “Why did you come pick me up out of nowhere?”
No answer. He just hit the gas, and we sped down the road. As soon as we stepped through the front door, I barely had time to close it behind me when he grabbed my face in his hands and kissed me–hard.
I couldn’t dodge in time. A startled, muffled sound escaped my throat as his mouth crashed against mine. The sharp, metallic taste of blood touched my tongue.
He’d bitten my lip.
Finally, he pulled back, panting, his eyes glinting red with intensity.
I frowned and swatted his hand away. Honestly, I don’t like this side of him, like a psychopath.
“What the hell is wrong with you today?”
He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, then growled, “If I hadn’t shown up tonight, who knows what that person would’ve tried? From now on, you’re not dancing with anyone else. And I don’t want to see anybody get handsy with you. Got it?”
Oh great. He’s upset again.
It finally clicked. So that’s what this was about. I couldnt help it–I laughed, a mix of frustration and disbelief. “Seriously? We just danced. That’s it. What, you think I can’t handle myself in a room full of people? You want to control that too?”
I exhaled sharply and looked away.
This is ridiculous.
“You’re acting like a jealous teenager,” I muttered. “It was one dance. Stop being so possessive.”
At that point, I’d had enough of his unpredictable mood. I didn’t even bother trying to calm him down. I just grumbled and headed straight for the study.

By the time the clock struck 11 and she still hadn’t come out, I sighed and figured it was time to swallow my pride.
I mean, couples fight–who stays mad forever?
Especially over a birthday party. It’s not exactly a proper meal anyway. I got up, went to the kitchen, fired up the stove, and started chopping vegetables like I’d done it a hundred times before. I made her pasta and gently pushed open the door to the study.
There she was, eyes glued to the screen as she made adjustments to her design draft.
I sighed, walked over, and placed the pasta next to her hand. “Okay, come on. Don’t stay mad. You probably didn’t eat anything decent at the party, right? Just eat something before going back to work. I can’t have my wife getting sick.”
Her hand froze on the mouse. She looked up at me. “You’re not mad anymore?”
I gave a small nod and sat beside her, letting out a helpless chuckle. “I was just jealous. Took me a second to admit it, but I’m over it now. You can’t blame me, though. When a guy finds someone amazing, of course he’s going to worry someone else might try to swoop in”
Rosaline’s POV:
Oh my gosh, did I hear that right?
The Alpha of the Eclipse Pack, Mr. Holbrook himself, actually apologizing to me?
That’s a first.
I chuckled inwardly, and my mood softened.
Honestly, it wasn’t a big deal to me. I just couldn’t understand why Caden lost it over me dancing with someone else. I really don’t like it when someone tries to control what I can or can’t do.
“I get that you were jealous. But you’ve got to trust me, at least enough not to do what you did today. It felt like you were trying to put a leash on me.”
This was the first time I’d ever said something like this to Caden. But since we were choosing to build a life together, I figured honesty was the best policy. It’s better to get things out in the open than let them build

“Oru You’re right.” He considered this and nodded slowly. “Rosaline, I know I’ve got my flaws. What I said
and did earlier was because I was jealous, but if it makes you uncomfortable, I’ll work on it. I promise.”

He looked into my eyes; his eyes lit up with a hint of a mile. He ruffled my hair affectionately and said, “Alright. Got it. Now cat your pasta before it gets cold.”
I nodded, picked up my fork, and started eating. As I took a bite, Caden glanced at my screen and noticed I was still working on my old design draft–the one I had submitted for the upcoming compétition.
He looked confused. “Why are you still editing that design? I thought it was all set and ready for the contest. What’s going on?”
I swallowed a mouthful and gave him a wry look. “Candice showed up in Phoshire a few days ago. She even visited the studio to ask Camilla about custom gowns and about the design contest too. She’s clearly fishing for intel on my draft. I looked into it, and it turns out she and Susan are teaming up to ruin my reputation.”
Caden was shocked with the revelation; he drew his brows together and said, “Candice managing to survive what she did was already a miracle. Now she’s back and trying to mess with you? What are you going to do?”
I shrugged and motioned for him to look at my screen. If they want to know, fine. I’ll have Camilla leak some details. I’ll just tweak the draft a little more. No big deal.”
“But,” I added, my tone firming, “this time, I’m going to make sure Susan suffers a consequence.”
Caden’s POV:
I had a bad feeling about this. It felt too calculated. If Candice and Susan were teaming up, there was no way they didn’t have more tricks up their sleeves.
Then, I looked at Rosaline, worry tugging at my voice. “If Candice came back without anyone noticing and showed up here just to get to you, she’s not someone to underestimate anymore. And I’ve heard of Susan -she’s no saint. Please be careful. Protect yourself.”
Rosaline smiled gently and patted the back of my hand. “Don’t worry. I’ll be careful. I won’t let anything happen to me. Now let me go grab some water—”
She started to stand up, but I couldn’t help myself–I stood too and pulled her into my arm.
“What are you doing?” She asked, a bit puzzled.
I rested my chin on her shoulder, wrapping my arms around her waist. “Rosaline … seriously. Once you’re done with all this, and we go back home, I want to throw our engagement party right away. I don’t care about waiting for the perfect time anymore. I can’t wait. I want to marry you.”
Tears welled up in her eyes; she smiled, looked up, and gently adjusted my collar. “You’re that eager, huh? What about your grandfather? Won’t he want a proper ceremony? And engagement parties take time to plan–unless you’ve already been planning it?”
“You don’t have to worry about Grandpa,” I said, finally relaxing as I realized she wasn’t opposed. “He’s eager for me to marry you. He’s afraid you’ll slip away if I don’t move fast. And as for the party–I’ll take care of everything. I’m going to give you the most beautiful engagement celebration in the world. One that’ll make everyone jealous.”
She laughed softly and cupped my cheek. “Okay, okay, get it. You don’t have to say it again. I believe you. And I’m looking forward to it.”

We locked eyes, drawn in by each other, and finally gave in to a kiss. It took a long time before we broke

Rosaline’s cheeks were flushed as she gently pushed me away.
“Alright, alright, enough of that. I need to finish my work.”

After that day, I stopped going to the studio much. I found time to meet with Susan at our usual plotting spot–an old coffee shop tucked away downtown.
I glanced at her across the table and lowered my voice. I’ve figured out what Rosaline’s design looks like.”
Susan perked up instantly. After I whispered the details in her car, she smiled, eyes flashing with satisfaction.
“In that case,” she said softly, “why don’t we go with this plan? Since we know exactly what her design is, I’ll get someone to steal it before the competition. We’ll tweak it just enough and use it as our entry. That way, we’ll save a ton of work–and if Rosaline tries to make a fuss, it’ll make Loe Studio look bad.”
I agree, but something occurred to me. “Sounds good, but one thing. That person can’t be someone tied to
us.”
Susan paused for a beat and gave me a knowing look. She was sharp–she instantly understood where I was going with this.
We shared a silent, wicked smile.
Yes. The most dangerous person is always the one on the inside.
“I’ll take care of it,” I said, smiling coolly. “I’ll make sure everything goes smoothly.”
Susan trusted me completely by now. She reached out and shook my hand. “I’ll be waiting for good news, Ms. Reese. The sooner, the better.”
Naomi’s POV:
I’d been stuck in the hospital for five days. I was getting antsy about the filming schedule, but I wasn’t some Alpha with insane healing powers. I was just a mid–tier werewolf, and a fracture like this would take months to heal properly.
What made it worse was that ever since I confessed my feelings to Jasper, he hadn’t come to visit me. Not even once. The more time passed, the more disappointed I felt. And the more I hated myself for speaking
- up.
But I was taken by surprise today, as Jasper swung by to visit me.
There was a knock at the door–two short raps–before Jasper walked in, holding a bouquet of gardenias. “Naomi,” he said. “Are you feeling better?”
The sound of his voice jolted me to life. I sat up a little and smiled. “Not too bad. It doesn’t hurt as much anymore. But the doctor said I still need to rest. Did filming wrap up early today? Is that why you’re here?”
I felt a little awkward looking at him. After what I’d said the other day, I didn’t know where we stood. Maybe we couldn’t even be friends anymore.
Jasper avoided my gaze as he set the flowers down on the bedside table and sat beside me. “I didn’t have much to shoot this morning–just a couple of scenes,” he said. “I figured it’s been a while, so I brought you

I looked down and gave a small laugh, fiddling with my fingers. After a long pause, I murmured, “Thank you. I honestly thought you wouldn’t come. About the other day, I-”
“I know,” Jasper interrupted gently.
I glanced up at him, mouth opening slightly, but the words died in my throat.
He took a deep breath and looked me straight in the eye. “Naomi, you’re a good girl. And I do care about you. But some things you can’t force. I think you know who I really have feelings for. I’ve always seen you like a little sister. I’m sorry.”
His words snuffed out the last flicker of hope in my heart. Like a candle burning to the end–there wasn’t even a spark left.
My fingers clenched the blanket, knuckles white, before I finally relaxed my grip and nodded. “It’s okay. I get it, Jasper. You don’t need to worry–I won’t make things awkward. What I said that day, I was joking. Don’t take it too seriously.”
I looked up and gaye him a forced smile, trying to keep it light. But deep down, my heart was already in pieces.
Jasper’s POV:
I felt awful. But before I could say anything else, my phone rang. It was Rosaline. I answered without thinking.
“Hey Rosaline, what’s up?”
The second Naomi heard her name, she looked away, silent.
“Nothing much, I just wanted to check how things are going with the crew while I’m gone. Is everything still on track?”
I smiled. “Everything’s good. No issues. Don’t worry about a thing–focus on your competition. We’ll have the movie ready in time for the festival. No way I’m letting your hard work go to waste.”
She added, “That’s a relief. The competition’s starting soon. I’ll head back once it’s over. When I do, I better see some real results!”
“You got it. Call me if you need anything. I’ve got something going on right now, so I’ll catch up with you later.” I hung up, glancing at Naomi again. I make an excuse to end the call before things get even more awkward.
Before I could say anything, someone’s voice echoed from the hallway,
“Naomi! Naomi! I came to see you!”
Footsteps rushed closer, then burst through the door. A tall werewolf in a loud floral shirt strolled in, grinning like he owned the room. He held a massive bouquet of roses. Right behind him, his lackey followed, lugging a huge basket filled with fruit.

The moment I saw that guy, my brows furrowed instinctively.

Naomi was sitting on the hospital bed, visibly surprised to see who had walked in. “Mr. Row? What are you doing here?”
Kelsey Row was clearly pleased to be acknowledged. He hurried to her bedside, wore an expression of deep concern as he spoke, “Well, I heard you got hurt on set–something about a stunt gone wrong–and had to be hospitalized. I was worried, so I picked up some flowers and fruit and came straight over to see you.”
He leaned in closer, his voice dripping with faux sincerity. “Naomi, you need to take good care of yourself. It would break my heart if anything happened to you.” As he spoke, he reached for her hand. Naomi, clearly uncomfortable, wriggled her hand free with a polite but stiff expression.
Kelsey, unfazed, smiled again and reached into his coat pocket, pulling out a small velvet box. “Here,” he said, opening it to reveal a sparkling necklace. “I know you aren’t in good mood. Look at this; this is a little something I picked out for you–a handcrafted diamond necklace. I thought it might cheer you up. Do you like it?”
Naomi stared at the necklace for a moment, her face showing zero enthusiasm. After a pause, she finally said, “Thank you, Mr. Row, that’s very thoughtful, but I..
I was already frowning.
Because I knew this
guy.
Kelsey was the second son of a wealthy and influential family. A textbook rich playboy.
We’d clashed before at a party. He got handsy with an actress. I’d stepped in and given him a taste of his own medicine.
What I didn’t expect was for him to be pestering Naomi Worse, he’d even chased her down to the hospital.
Naomi shot me a silent, desperate look. I stepped forward, placed a firm hand on Kelsey’s shoulder, and said calmly, “Mr. Row, Naomi needs rest. This is a hospital, not the place for you to flirt with a girl. I suggest you leave before this turns into a scene.”
Kelsey turned partially toward me, giving me a once–over. He mocked, “Well, if it isn’t Jasper. Funny how you always seem to pop up wherever I go.” He scoffed. “And for the record, I’m here to visit Naomi. What’s it to you? Are you her dad? Her boyfriend? Either way, it’s none of your business. Mind your own business and walk away.”
I gave a low, dry chuckle and turned to my assistant just outside the door. “Nick, escort Mr. Row out. Not everyone’s allowed in here. Maybe suggest he rinse out his mouth before coming back. If he refuses, call in the security. I’m sure they’d be happy to help.”
“You jerk!” Kelsey glared at me. He clenched his fists so tight his knuckles turned white, eyes blazing as if he was about to lose control, shift on the spot, and tear me to pieces.
I didn’t back down. Instead, I let my aura rise–a quiet pressure that filled the room. I locked eyes with him, unflinching.

After some struggle, Nick finally got him out and even closed the door behind him. Naomi looked visibly relieved..
She gave me a soft smile, eyes warm with gratitude. “Thank you, Jasper.”
I took the seat beside her bed and met her gaze. “It’s nothing. Really. But I’ll admit, I didn’t expect Kelsey to be bothering you. I know sometimes new actresses end up getting dragged to dinners and events for networking–it comes with the territory–but you need to be careful around him. He’s a player, and he’s not exactly discreet about it.”
Naomi bit her lip and nodded. “I understand. I’ll be careful. But it sounds like you and Mr. Row have some history?”
I sighed and tried to brush it off casually. “Just an old scuffle. He was inappropriately touching a young woman at an event. I stepped in. We exchanged a few punches. That’s all.”
Naomi was stunned. Then she blinked in surprise. Then she burst out in laughter and commented, “I never pictured you as the fighting type, Jasper. You always seem so gentle.”
Her words lightened the mood. The tension from before melted away like fog under the sun.
I laughed too.

Chapter 546 The Sketch Being Stolen
Camilla’s POV:
Ever since Rosaline learned that Susan’s team might try something shady with the design sketches, she’d been meticulously tweaking the details of the original and secretly creating a decoy.
Once she was finished, she gave me a call and asked me to come pick it up.

Candice took the sketch with delight, but her eyes darted around the studio like she was casing the place.
I pretended not to notice. Her gaze finally landed on a sketch sitting right out in the open on the stand beside me–just as planned. I’d made sure it stuck out slightly from the folder, with the bright red hem of the dress peeking out.
It was Rosaline’s carefully crafted bait.
Candice pretended to admire the sketch I handed her for a few more seconds, then nodded. “It’s great. I love it. Let’s go with this design.”
Then she paused, almost like she was hesitating, before accidentally noticing the sketch with the other sketch. “Oh–what’s this?” she asked, all curious smiles as she slipped the folder out and flipped it over. Just as we intended, it revealed a deep crimson vintage gown.
“Wow, Camilla!” She gasped. “Is this Loe’s entry for the fashion competition? It’s absolutely gorgeous!”
I feigned alarm and snatched the folder from her hands. “Oh no, no, no–that one’s not for you.” I glanced at her, acting all flustered, then quickly.tucked the sketch into the drawer beside me.
With dramatic flair, I turned the key and gave it a good tug to make sure it was secure. Candice watched every move of mine like a hawk.
She blinked at me, frowning in confusion. “What’s going on?”
After locking the drawer, I gave it an extra tug–just to be sure it wouldn’t budge. Only when I was certain did I finally let go, exhaling a quiet breath of relief. Then I looked up at Candice with an apologetic smile.
“Sorry about that,” I said gently. “Loe gave me this yesterday. It’s actually her official design for the upcoming competition, and we’re not allowed to show it to anyone before it starts. I really shouldn’t have.

I put on my best desperate expression, palms pressed together like I was begging. “Please don’t tell anyone you saw it, okay?”
Candice gave a hurried nod, her expression solemn. “Don’t worry, I won’t breathe a word. As soon as I walk out that door, it’s like it never happened.”
“Oh, thank goodness!” I beamed at her. A moment later, my phone buzzed. “Oh–yes, okay. I’ll head down now,” I said into the receiver.
Then I turned to Candice. “I need to go down and grab a delivery. Want to join me?”
She shook her head and refused, “Nah, I’ll stay. I need to use the restroom anyway.”
Exactly what we’d planned. The drawer key was sitting in plain sight on my mousepad. The moment I left, we knew Candice wouldn’t be able to resist.
And just as expected, when I returned, she was gone: Her chair was empty. I sat down and opened the drawer.
The sketch was missing.
I grinned and texted Rosaline.
“Mission accomplished.”
Candice’s POV:
The moment I stepped out of the studio with that stolen design in hand, I felt like I was walking on air.
Rosaline, no matter how good you think you are, I’ll always outmaneuver you.
I made my way straight to Susan’s studio. When I saw her in her office, I didn’t hesitate–I pulled the sketch from my purse and placed it right on her desk. “I get it. This is the design Camilla mentioned earlier–the one for the gown. Here you go. Do your magic.”
Susan’s eyes widened. She glanced at me in disbelief before hastily grabbing the sketch and tucking it into her drawer like it was treasure.
I smirked. “Since I got you what you wanted, I expect you to hold up your end of the deal.”
Susan gave me a satisfied nod. “Of course, Ms. Reese. You have my word.”

Once Candice left, I pulled out the design draft and studied Rosaline’s style carefully. I had to admit–the technique was clever. She had a way of surprising people with the details.
But so what? Didn’t I get my hands on it anyway?
After working on it for an entire day, I finally finished modifying the draft. I kept Rosaline’s foundation but added my flair to it. Now all I had to do was wait for the competition to start.
Two days later, the design contest began right on schedule.
Following two rounds–the model presentation and the design submission–the head judge rose from his seat and announced, just as I’d expected, “The winner of this year’s design competition is Loe, the head designer of Loe Studio!”
“Hold it right there!” I had been standing in the crowd all along, waiting for that exact moment. As soon as the announcement was made, I stepped forward confidently, sweeping my gaze across the room.
“I would like to report,” I said clearly. “That design is a copy of mine!”
Gasps and murmurs rippled through the audience–designers and spectators, all equally shocked. A low buzz of conversation rose from the stands.
The judges exchanged confused looks and began flipping through the design portfolios on the table. Then, the head judge’s hand paused mid–page, his expression turning strangely complicated.
I couldn’t help but curl my lips into a smile.
Let’s see how you get out of this one.
“Ms. Susan, please return to your place for now,” the head judge finally said after a long pause.
I’m still smiling. I turned and walked back to the lineup of contestants. As I passed Rosaline, I knowing look.

But then, nothing happened after I returned to my seat. No reaction from the judges, no questions, no follow–up. I waited. And waited. And nothing.
What was going on? The design was obviously plagiarized–how could they not see it?
Then came the exhibit, and my confusion only deepened.
All the pieces were displayed anonymously. First, models would showcase the outfits on the runway. Then, the garments would be hung on racks for viewing. But when the ushers rolled out the racks, I didn’t see anything resembling that red vintage gown.
What the hell?
I frowned, clenching my fists as I glanced over at Rosaline. She didn’t even spare me a look. Her eyes were

When the model had walked the runway in that dress, the entire room had gone dark, and the skirt–over three feet long–had shimmered like a galaxy scattered across the floor. Even I couldn’t deny it was absolutely stunning.
What’s going on? Something wasn’t right.
As the moments pieced together in my head, it all looked reasonable on the surface–but deep down, it didn’t add up.
Was Candice tricked?
I pressed my lips together. The more I thought about it, the more ridiculous my accusation seemed. Looking at my team’s design beside Loe’s galactic masterpiece, even the other designers were glancing over with strange expressions, some even shaking their heads.
My face burned with embarrassment. I felt humiliated–furious and ashamed all at once.
Finally, the head judge addressed me. “Ms. Susan, your gown and Loe’s are clearly not the same.”
Awkward, I wanted to disappear.
I forced a weak smile, then quietly slipped off to the side, pulling out my phone to call Candice.
She answered cheerily, “Hey, how’d it go? Did Rosaline totally embarrass herself?”
“Embarrass herself?!” I nearly exploded.
I had no idea what kind of mess Candice got into. Did she just hand me a random sketch and pretend it was Rosaline’s? I lowered my voice so no one would hear.
Glancing over my shoulder, I saw the other designers still focused on the displays. Relieved, I hissed into the phone, “What is going on? Did you grab the wrong design? Loe’s final piece doesn’t match the draft you gave me at all! It’s not even vintage–it’s completely different!”
“What? That’s impossible!” Candice’s voice jumped an octave. “I saw Camilla put the design on the table with my own eyes. That’s the one I took!”
“You’re sure?” I asked sharply.
“I’m sure,” she insisted.

The head judge looked at me, his tone calm but firm as he repeated, “Ms. Susan, please present and explain your design.”
Only then did I let out a breath of relief. I quickly put away my phone, straightened my back, and walked toward the display stand with what I hoped was composed elegance. I forced a polite smile and reached out to gesture toward the gown.
“This piece came to me one evening while watching a movie,” I began, my voice clear and confident.
I spoke at length, describing everything from the inspiration behind the design to the smallest details in the fabric and stitching.
By the time I finished, I couldn’t help but cast a smug glance at Rosaline. Sure, the sketch came from her originally, but I’d put in real effort to make it my own.
But as my voice trailed off, I noticed something strange. The expressions on the faces of the other designers ranged from uncertain to downright perplexed.
I was confused. I glanced at the gown again.
Did I say something wrong?
Just then, Camilla stepped out from the crowd, wearing a look of innocent confusion as she studied the dress. “Ms. Susan certainly has a good concept,” she said. “But I could’ve sworn I’ve seen this gown before. Oh, that’s right–it looks almost identical to one from Mr. Fraley’s collection. Even the gemstone on the belt is in the same spot.”
The moment I saw Camilla, I knew the outcome couldn’t be good.
“I remember reading about it in one of Mr. Fraley’s books,” she continued casually. “He even called it one of his proudest works. Strange how your design looks so much like his. It couldn’t be plagiarism, could it?”
She said that casually. I froze at her words.
The room buzzed with whispers. Disdainful glances were cast my way, and I could hear the murmurs–clear as day.
“I thought that gown looked familiar; indeed, I’ve seen the same one in Louie Fraley’s book before.”
“Makes you wonder how she ever won anything at past competitions. Plagiarizing now? Seriously?”
“Honestly, Loe’s ten times the designer she is. Too bad Loe never shows up in person–I’ve entered this contest every year just hoping I’d get to see him once.”
Shame crashed over me like a wave. I wanted to sink through the floor. And hearing Loe’s name only made it worse.
The judges now looked stern, no longer even pretending to hide their disapproval. It was obvious–they saw the resemblance between my supposed original piece and Louie’s work.
The head judge turned to me. his voice heavy with seriousness. “Ms. Susan. would you care to explain what’s

What was I supposed to say? That I’d used a pattern from Loe Studio as a reference? In our field, that was practically the same as stealing–maybe worse. Admitting it would be professional suicide.
“I… no, it’s not like that… “I stammered, shaking my head to deny it.
Camilla crossed her arms, pressing, “Then what is it like? Care to explain why your gown is almost a replica of Mr. Fraley’s?”
I couldn’t answer. I just glared at her, seething.
The head judge turned away from me and whispered something to the two other panelists. Less than a minute passed before he faced me again, eyes stern. “Ms. Susan,” he said, “after reviewing the situation, the judges have unanimously agreed that you are disqualified from this competition. Furthermore, you will not be allowed to participate in future events. Plagiarism is a serious offense in our industry.”
His words hit like ice water pouring over my head. My palms went clammy. Even my blood felt cold.
That statement was a death sentence in the design world.
Around me, the other designers wore expressions of ridicule or thinly veiled satisfaction. The head judge turned and walked away without another glance. The rest of the crowd followed, leaving me standing there, completely alone.
I stared at the vintage, deep–red gown hanging in the glass case in disbelief. Once dazzling, now it looked like a cruel joke–a silent mockery.
Have I lost?
Back on stage, the others gathered near the podium. The outcome was already clear. I had once been Loe’s only serious rival–but now, with me out of the picture, the winner was obviously him.
Sure enough, the head judge stepped up to the microphone and announced, “This year’s Design Competition champion is Loe!”
The room erupted in applause. No one was surprised–only genuinely happy for the winner. When the judge called for Loe Studio’s representative to come forward and accept the award, Camilla didn’t move.
She simply smiled, graceful and poised, and said, “There’s no need for me to accept the trophy today- because Loe is actually here in person.”

The moment Camilla said those words, the entire room of designers froze. Some faces lit up with surprise, some with joy. A few exchanged confused glances, their eyes wide with wonder. Others just looked plain baffled.
I stood there calmly, watching the emotions pass through the crowd.
Everyone in the design world knew Loc. A legend. The kind of figure who entered design competitions, won every time, but never once showed up in person. A ghost, really–whispers and awards, but no face. And now Camilla had just dropped the bomb: Loe was here. In the flesh.
Camilla gave a smug little smile and stepped aside. Everyone followed her gaze.
I smiled and began walking forward.
As I moved, everyone parted silently to make way.
Even the judges, experienced as they were, looked visibly shocked to hear that Loe had shown up. But when they saw it was me, just an ordinary young woman, a foreigner no less, stepping through the crowd, the shock doubled.
The journalists nearly lost it with my present. Their shutters clicked wildly, the sound like a hailstorm of camera flashes. Of course they wouldn’t miss a chance like this—to finally get a photo of the elusive Loe.
Who would have thought? The designer who’d taken the spotlight from Susan and kept winning year after year turned out to be a girl who looked barely 20, young and undeniably foreign.
With all eyes on me, I stepped confidently onto the stage. The head judge blinked out of his daze and smiled politely, hiding his astonishment well. He handed me the trophy with a nod.
I bowed slightly and accepted it with both hands. Then, turning to the microphone, I spoke, “Hello, everyone. I’m Loe.”
The name needed no introduction. The room fell silent for a beat, then erupted into applause.
Many of the people in the audience were here for Loe. And now that I had revealed myself, it was like a bonus prize beyond the competition itself.
When the clapping faded, I continued, “I’m really honored to be here again at the International Design Competition. It means a lot to receive this award. This might be the first time you’re seeing me in person, but I promise–Loe won’t be a mystery anymore.”
I said it loud and clear, no hesitation. The crowd cheered again, their applause rolling like thunder. The journalists were all on their feet now, firing off questions–about my design philosophy, why I finally decided to show myself, and so on.
I answered them all politely, one by one. Just as I was about to step off the stage, a voice rang out from the back, “Wait!”

My gaze dropped to the roses, and suddenly I guessed what he wanted to do but couldn’t come up with any words.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” Caden said, turning to the audience. “Loe or Ms. Rosaline is my fiancée. I’m sorry I wasn’t here earlier to support her in person, but today, I have something even more important to do.”
He turned back toward me, then dropped to one knee, holding out the bouquet. “Rosaline, I know this is a big day for you. I’ve been planning this for a long time. We’ve been through so much together–ups and downs, storms and sunshine. From the moment I fell for you, I knew I never wanted to let you go. So now, let me ask you, Rosaline, will you marry me?”
I froze. I had suspected something was up–he wasn’t exactly subtle–but this? A proposal. Here. Now.
Blinking, I looked down at him, at the man I’d gone through so much with. He looked up at me with those eyes, full of warmth and hope. I couldn’t help it. I smiled.
I never liked making a big scene, but after everything we’d been through, what was there to be afraid of?
With that, I nodded slowly, gently, and told him firmly, “I do.”
The room exploded. Cheering. Whistles. Laughter. Blessings shouted from strangers and friends alike. The cameras went nuts again–click–click–click, capturing every angle, every expression, every tear.
Caden stood and pulled me into a warm, steady embrace.

Chapter 550 Why Did Caden Love You?
Loe, you set me up!
Finished
It was already 6 p.m. by the time Caden and I walked out of the venue, chatting and laughing as we strolled toward the parking lot. Just as we turned the corner, Susan came charging toward us like a storm.
She glared at me, eyes wild. “Loe–no, I should say Rosaline–why did you sabotage me? That award, that trophy in your hands, it should’ve been mine!”
Her voice rose uncontrollably, and her delicate features twisted with rage. A few bystanders slowed down to watch the scene unfold. Caden immediately stepped in front of me, his brows furrowed, shielding me without hesitation.
I sighed, both helpless and a little disgusted. I hadn’t expected her obsession to run this deep.
Tugging gently on Caden’s sleeve, I gave him a look that told him not to intervene. I took a step forward and faced her calmly. “Susan, let’s get one thing straight–you were the one who tried to frame me. We’re both designers. If you had challenged me in a fair competition, I might’ve respected you as a worthy rival. But now? You’ve crossed a line. Plagiarizing someone else’s work? That’s a crime in Fostrau.”
As I spoke, I gave Caden a subtle signal to call the cop and mouthed a single name, “Candice.”
He understood immediately. With a small nod, he pulled out his phone and called the police, reporting everything–Susan’s plagiarism and Candice’s theft of the original design sketches.
Susan’s expression changed dramatically. She’d lived in Fostrau long enough to understand exactly what that meant. She moved as if to stop him–but it was already too late.
Caden ended the call and slipped his phone back into his pocket without mercy. Susan, a Beta–class werewolf, didn’t dare lay a finger on an Alpha. His security guards pinned her where she stood before she could make another move.
About 30 minutes later, an SUV pulled up. Two werewolf officers stepped out, cuffed the now–limp Susan, and loaded her into the vehicle.
That night, Susan’s reputation was ruined beyond repair.
As for Candice? She didn’t get far. A foreigner living under watchful eyes, she was easy for the Fostrau police to track. Soon enough, she was arrested by the werewolf unit for theft and even kidnapping.
What awaited her would be a long, harsh trial.
Everything seemed to be over. News of Caden’s proposal to me had already spread like wildfire thanks to the live broadcast of the award ceremony. The internet was in a frenzy.
But neither Caden nor I cared. We spent a few peaceful days vacationing in Fostrau–just the two of us. No drama, no distractions. We went on dates, stayed in, and enjoyed each other’s company.
When we returned to Rivemon, the first thing we did was visit Richard.
Caden gripped my hand like he was afraid I’d disappear. He walked through the front door with a bright smile. “Grandpa, we are back.”

“Rosaline wanted to come see you right after the competition,” Caden said, glancing at me affectionately. “But I thought she deserved a break, so I kept her in Fostrau a little longer. Also, we’ve got a big event to plan. I proposed at the awards ceremony–and she said yes.”
Richard blinked at me, then broke into a huge grin. “Rosic, you finally agreed to marry this rascal? That’s wonderful news! I can finally rest easy now! Haha.”
I smiled, a little shy. “Yes, I’ve said yes. We’ve even picked out the ring. Everything’s set. You don’t have to worry about anything.”
On my right hand, a handcrafted diamond ring sparkled. Caden had taken me to a jeweler the day after the ceremony, where we chose a one–of–a–kind piece just for me.
As the three of us chatted, Eleanor and Queenie arrived at the house. The moment they walked in and saw me sitting with Caden by Richard’s side, Queenie’s face darkened.
Eleanor looked more composed, though she was clearly suppressing her feelings. She forced a polite smile as she spoke to Richard. “We came by to see you.”
Caden’s face fell the second he heard their voices. He looked up at the mother and daughter; his smile disappeared. “What are you doing here?” he said coldly. “You’re not welcome. Please leave.”
I creased my brows and whispered, “Caden.”
Obviously, I didn’t want him to confront his mother and sister. No one needed that kind of scene.
“Oh come on, Caden, don’t get so worked up,” Queenie said lightly, pretending not to notice the tension. “We just came to visit Grandpa. That’s all.” She walked over and placed a box on the table. “Grandpa, we brought some supplements for you. You have to accept them, okay?”
Richard gave a tight–lipped smile and said flatly, “How thoughtful.”
Queenie didn’t seem bothered. She straightened up and turned her gaze to me, stepping a little closer. “You just got back, right? I watched the competition and the awards.”
In her eyes, I saw pure jealousy and spite-
Like she was silently asking, what makes you so special? Why do you get to win Caden’s heart?

I didn’t care what kind of mindset Queenie had. I was just being polite and courteous.
In front of Grandpa, I didn’t want to have any major conflict with her.

Eleanor acted like she hadn’t seen anything and only spoke to Mr. Richard. On the other hand, Caden closely monitored his mother. After what had happened before, he was always on guard against those two women, afraid they’d do something harmful to Mr. Richard again.
The few of us had lunch together at the old mansion. During the meal, Queenie didn’t say a word. Even when she looked up, it was mostly at me. Instead, it was Caden and Mr. Richard who kept serving me food.
After finishing that stifling meal, I went to the poolside.
I just wanted to get some fresh air, maybe see if any new inspiration would strike for my designs–but Queenie soon followed.
She stood beside me as if nothing had happened and said, “Well, well, the great champion is enjoying the view all alone, huh?”
“Yeah.” I glanced at her nonchalantly, stretching my arms with my hands crossed. “I’m just admiring the view, thinking about design ideas. Are you planning to swim?”
Queenie chuckled. “I don’t have the kind of leisure time you do. But I wouldn’t mind … helping you take a dip!”
As she said that, she had already taken a few subtle steps toward me, her hand quietly reaching behind my back.
“Rosaline, go to hell!”
Her expression changed as she suddenly shouted and tried to push me into the pool, but I had already stepped aside in a flash.
Queenie’s face twisted in shock. She tried to pull her arm back, but it was too late. She lost her balance and fell straight into the water.
This clueless heiress really underestimated me.
I’d already noticed her little tricks and was on guard. With my Alpha–level perception, there’s no wa 1 let her sneak up on me like that.
Splash-
A huge wave of water erupted from the pool as Queenie thrashed around wildly.
“H–help… Help me…”
Every time Queenie surfaced, she struggled to call for help.

Queenie lay on the poolside, coughing violently. It looked like she’d gotten quite a bit of water in her lungs. -her face twisted in pain. Her once meticulously made–up face had become smeared and messy, with her hair and clothes soaked through. She looked downright pathetic.
“Had enough?” I folded my arms and looked down at her with indifference.
Queenie snapped her head up, her eyes red with rage. “Rosaline, you’re despicable!”
“Despicable?” I let out a laugh and looked at her like she was an idiot. “If anyone’s despicable here, it’s you, isn’t it? You and Eleanor teamed up to frame an Alpha, and then you tried to push me into the pool. From start to finish, the only one playing dirty is you. Let me tell you something, Queenie–don’t think no one can see through your little tricks. This was just a warning. If you try anything with me again, next time it won’t end this easily.”
With that, I turned and walked away, leaving her there without a care whether she’d catch a cold or not.
Back in the guest room at the old mansion, I changed into clean clothes. Just as I was heading out, I ran into Caden walking toward me. He noticed the damp ends of my hair and gave me a puzzled look.
“What happened?”
“It’s nothing. Queenie tried to push me into the pool, but I let her fall in herself,” I said–it casually, but Caden’s frown eased right away. He looked at me for a moment and then suddenly burst out laughing.
“What’s wrong?” I asked, a little confused. “What are you laughing at?”
“Nothing, nothing,” he said, waving it off. “I just didn’t expect this side of you.”
I found it strange, but I didn’t care. I went back to the room, fiddled with something for a bit, then hugged a notebook to my chest with a mysterious smile, grabbed his hand, and pulled him out to the garden.
Caden followed me to the grassy area, clearly puzzled. “What’s going on? Why are we out here all of a sudden?”
“Look,” I said, finally loosening my grip and handing him the notebook.
It was my design book. Inside was a sketch of a wedding dress–pleated with a gradient of colors. I’d used a special type of paint, so under the light, the skirt shimmered with a rainbow–like gradient.
Caden stared at the design, a look of amazement crossing his face.
“Do you like it? There’s an even bigger surprise.” I grinned, then ran back to the room and changed into the very wedding dress I had sewn by hand.
When I returned to the garden, the moment he saw me, Caden was completely stunned.
It wasn’t until I stood in front of him and asked if the dress looked good that this heir to Eclipse Pack seemed to snap out of his daze, nodding repeatedly like he’d just woken from a dream.
“It’s beautiful. Whatever you wear is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”
I lowered my head and smiled shyly. “I initially designed this for the engagement ceremony. I’m showing it to you early. Should I make another one for the actual day?”

When I returned to Rivemon, I was originally pleased because the scar on my hand had healed. But then I accidentally saw a video circulating online of Caden proposing to Rosaline.”
In the video, Rosaline looked so happy. I was so furious that I nearly ground my teeth to splinters.
Below that video, there was also a related news piece: “Eclipse Group’s CEO and Starplay Entertainment’s CEO Will Hold Engagement Ceremony Next Month.”
I immediately smashed the tablet in my hand.
Michael heard the noise and walked in, looking at me worriedly as he asked, “Wendy, what’s wrong?”
“Michael.” I calmed down a bit and turned to Michael. “You have to help me this time. Caden is actually going to marry that Omega bitch Rosaline. You have to help me!”
“Caden? What did he do again?” Michael frowned.
“Yeah.” I nodded vigorously, speaking through gritted teeth, “He and Rosaline are going to have an engagement ceremony next month. Michael, I only have you now. You have to help me. I can’t let the two of them get engaged!”
Michael was stunned for a moment, staring at my face in silence for a long time. Finally, he sighed. “Wendy, why are you still so obsessed?”
Tears fell from my eyes as I looked at Michael with grievance. “Michael, you promised Mom you’d take good care of me.”
When I said that, Michael went quiet. After a while, he clenched his jaw and agreed. “Then I … I’ll think of something. But you absolutely can’t cause trouble again, understand?”
Hearing Michael agree, I got a little excited. After all, Michael was the heir to the Wild Pack. If he really wanted to help me, he could definitely do it.
I looked at Michael and excitedly gave him an idea. “Michael, why don’t you try to pursue Rosaline or even drug her? A prestigious wolf clan like Eclipse Pack really cares about whether their future Luna is pure. Besides, Caden’s mother also doesn’t like Rosaline. After what happened last time, although the baby was saved, she’d still been lying in the hospital for nearly half a month. It was only after the werewolf doctor ran a full series of tests and confirmed that both mother and child were safe that I brought her home.
This time, even my mom didn’t dare say much. She hurriedly brought Yura back to the Storm Pack villa, terrified something else might go wrong.
Hearing my question, Yura smiled and shook her head. “I’m fine. Didn’t the doctor already say I’m okay? Besides, I’ve been staying at your place these past few days. What could possibly happen? You don’t need to worry about me.”
That’s what she said, but just thinking about what happened at the hospital still left me shaken. I’d worked so hard to win her over–I couldn’t bear the thought of losing her.
“Now that I’m the baby’s father, and you finally said yes to my proposal, as the heir apparent of the Storm Pack, of course I have to protect you both and make sure nothing happens to either of you.”
“Alright, alright, you two can talk later. Here, Yura, drink this soup first.” My mom came over and placed a freshly stewed bowl of soup on the table.
Yura smiled softly and nodded.
While she was sipping the soup, the doorbell rang. A servant went to answer it, and in walked Rosaline carrying a big load of health supplements. She smiled at Yura and said, “I came to see you! How have you been feeling lately?”
I quickly went over to greet her, taking the supplements from her hands and putting them in a proper place.
Rosaline sat down warmly beside Yura and looked at her slightly rounded belly. She reached out to gently touch it and couldn’t help but smile. “This must be four or five months along, right? Did the doctor say if it’s a boy or a girl?”
Yura glanced at the pile of supplements and gave her a playful glare. “Why’d you bring so much stuff? I’m not some kind of national treasure. Besides, I’m already fine now.”
“What do you mean? You’re pregnant–you are the Storm Pack’s treasure now! And don’t forget, we agreed: once the baby’s born, I get to be the godmother,” Rosaline teased with a grin.
Yura smiled shyly and looked at me.
I went over and held her hand. Lately, my mom and I had been treating her like something precious. She wasn’t allowed to do anything even slightly risky, and she’d gained a bit of weight. But her overall condition seemed much better now.
Yura smiled at me, then turned to tease Rosaline back. “Of course you’ll be the godmother. But when are you and Mr. Holbrook going to have a little werewolf of your own? Then we can go baby clothes shopping together.”

“We’re still a long way off from that,” I said, smiling. “But what about you and Ryan? When are you two planning the wedding? You’re already having a baby–surely you won’t skip it?”
Yura let out a sigh. “I’m over five months along now, and I wouldn’t look great in a wedding dress. Plus, the doctor said it was a miracle that both the baby and I made it through that scare. Even now, I need to rest and avoid stress or physical strain. So Ryan and I talked it over. We’re planning to wait until after the baby’s born and I’ve recovered, then we’ll have the wedding.”
“Exactly,” Ryan said as he walked over from the dining room, setting down a plate of grapes in front of Yura and me. “Yura’s been through a lot, and her health still isn’t great. We figured it’s best not to overdo things. Both our parents agreed too.”
Seeing them like this, I couldn’t help but smile warmly. “I’m really happy for you both.”
At a time like this, I wouldn’t dream of mentioning Timothy again. What could be more important than seeing my best friend find happiness?
“Right now, the most important thing is taking good care of yourself and the baby. Seriously, don’t let anything happen. You have no idea–when I heard you were in surgery that day, I was scared out of my mind.” I gave her a mock–scolding tone as I reached over to hold her hand with genuine concern.
Yura nodded. “Alright, alright, I get it. What about you? Isn’t your engagement ceremony with Mr. Holbrook next month? How are the preparations coming along?”
“It’s almost ready. He said there are still a few details to sort out, but it should only take a few more days. Mr. Richard already finalized the guest list, and you and Ryan have to be there.”
“Of course!” Ryan immediately chimed in with a grin, “Yura and I will definitely be there, Rosie. Don’t worry. I’ve got to pick up some tips while I’m at it, after all!”
“What do you mean?” Yura said, giving him a playful side–eye.
I stayed at the Storm Pack villa until around noon. Ryan’s mother had wanted me to stay for lunch, but I politely declined since I had work to get back to at the company.
As I stepped out of the villa and reached the gate, I noticed a white Porsche parked just outside. I recognized it–it was Michael’s car. He was standing on the sidewalk nearby.

Michael happened to turn around and see me, immediately smiling as he said, “Ms. Sinclair, what a coincidence!”
“Not that much of a coincidence.” I paused and gave a polite smile. “You’ve probably been waiting here for quite a while. I tend to be straightforward. Mr. Crawford, if you have something to say, it’s better to just say it.”
Michael smiled and said, “Alright, I have indeed been waiting here. I just wanted to ask if you’ve thought more about the collaboration. Also, it’s already noon–Have you had lunch yet, Ms. Sinclair? How about we find a restaurant and talk over a meal?”
“Thank you for the offer, Mr. Crawford, but I don’t think that’s necessary.” I declined directly. After all, I wasn’t very familiar with Michael, and his recent attentiveness was making me feel uneasy.
Michael showed no intention of giving up. “Ms. Sinclair don’t be so quick to refuse. Don’t worry, I just want to treat you to a meal. Since we’re asking for Starplay Entertainment’s help, let’s at least become friends. How does that sound?”
I looked up at him, hesitated for a moment, then nodded in agreement. “Alright, let’s talk over lunch.
Michael smiled at that and opened the car’s back door, inviting me in.
Twenty minutes after getting in the car, Michael brought me to a well–known Ivernian restaurant in Rivemon.
I followed Michael through the entrance. The server nodded at him and led us to a relatively quiet seat by
the window.
Michael gestured for the server to hand me the menu. Ms. Sinclair, take a look and see what you’d like to

I reached out and took the menu, casually saying to Michael, “Mr. Crawford, you seem quite prepared. As soon as we arrived, you already had a table booked.”
Michael smiled lightly and said, “Doing business requires sincerity, after all. And didn’t you agree to have lunch with me today? Do you find anything unsatisfactory about the terms I proposed?”
His forthrightness did surprise me a bit. As for the conditions he proposed, they were indeed quite
generous.
But why did I feel like there’s something fishy about this?
But since he was already asking directly, I had no reason to avoid the topic. So I said, “I’ve considered the terms you mentioned, Mr. Crawford. “Since you’ve said that, wouldn’t it be rude of me not to agree?” I thought for a moment and said.
Michael smiled when he heard this. “Then, Ms. Sinclair I’m looking forward to a pleasant cooperation.”
Queenie’s POV:
I didn’t expect to see Rosaline on a date with the heir of Wild Pack here.
I was out shopping with friends, and as I walked nearby, I saw Rosaline and Michael enter a restaurant, chatting and laughing. They looked way too close.
Rosaline, you still dare to say you’re sincere toward Caden? You won’t stop until you hit a wall, huh? This time, I’ve got proof!
Without hesitation, I took out my phone and snapped a photo of Rosaline dining with Michael, then sent it straight to Caden.
Rosaline’s POV:
After having lunch with Michael, I went back to the office and worked until 6 p.m. When I got home, I saw Caden sitting on the couch with a dark expression.
I looked at him, confused. “What’s wrong? Why are you upset again?”
Caden looked up at me and asked coldly, “Why did you go to a restaurant with Michael from Wild Pack today?”
I froze. I didn’t think it was a big deal, but how did he know?
I casually hung my coat on the rack by the entrance and said, “I went to Ryan’s place to see Yura today. On my way out, I ran into Mr. Crawford. He wanted to talk business, so we had a meal while discussing it. How did you know about this?”

The kiss was intense and overwhelming, almost causing me to lose my breath. It wasn’t until over ten seconds later, when my phone started ringing, that he reluctantly let me go, looking annoyed.
I looked at him helplessly and said, “Alright, alright, stop messing around … My phone’s ringing. I’m going to answer it.”
I took out my phone and had just said hello when I heard Grandpa’s voice on the other end.
Surprised and excited, my tone instantly lifted. “Grandpa! Why are you only calling me now? I’ve missed you-”
Grandpa chuckled warmly on the phone. “I saw on TV the past few days that you’re getting engaged to Caden. I figured since I’ve got some spare time, I might as well come back and attend your engagement ceremony.”
“Really?” I laughed. “That’s great! When are you coming to Rivemon? I’ll come pick you up!”
“In a few days. I’ll call you once I arrive,” Grandpa said with a smile.
I happily agreed and chatted with him for a bit more before hanging up. Then I turned to Caden and said, “Grandpa called. He said he’ll be coming to Rivemon in a few days to attend our engagement ceremony. That’s great. I haven’t seen him in such a long time.”
Caden had calmed down by now and smiled a little. He placed a hand on my shoulder, gave it a light pat, and said, “Alright, when Grandpa arrives, let me know. We’ll go pick him up together.”

Kelsey shot me a glare right back. “Seriously, Jasper, why are you always hovering around like a ghost? I came to pick Naomi up, so why are you here? Are you just trying to mess with me?”
Without thinking, I stepped in front of Naomi, shielding her behind me. “I already warned you not to bother Naomi. Don’t mess with anyone from our company. It seems you ignored my warning, huh?”
Kelsey looked me up and down with a mocking sneer. So what if I listen to you? And what if I don’t? Jasper, do you think you’re some kind of king that everyone has to obey? What’s with you being so protective of Naomi? Don’t tell me you’ve got a thing for her too!”
Naomi’s face turned pale. The anger inside me was slowly rising. That one sentence from Kelsey not only insulted me but humiliated her as well.
“What, no comeback? Did I hit a nerve? Jasper, I didn’t expect you to be a traitor too. Weren’t you all about Rosaline-”
I couldn’t take it anymore. My fist landed squarely on his face with a dull thud.
Kelsey fell to the ground, groaning as he clutched his face and started cursing me out, “Jasper, what the hell’s wrong with you?! Are you crazy?!”
“What’s wrong with me? I’m doing what your parents should’ve done–teaching that filthy mouth of yours a lesson!”
I charged at him again, losing all reason as we started to grapple and fight.
Naomi was panicking, trying desperately to pull us apart, but couldn’t get in between. “Jas–Jasper, Mr. Row… please stop fighting. This is the hospital entrance. Please–just stop.
Rosaline’s POV:
”
I was in my office, hands braced against the desk, eyes fixed on the computer screen in front of me. A video was playing–Jasper and Kelsey fighting in public. The person who filmed it even caught Naomi in the frame.
I frowned, a headache already creeping in.
“Where’s Jasper? Tell him to get back here,” I said as I pulled out my phone and called his assistant.
The PR department was already working on controlling the damage on Twitter–dealing with the video and the gossip articles spreading like wildfire. An hour later, Jasper and Naomi finally returned to the office.
Naomi followed timidly behind him, eyes red, tear stains on her cheeks. She didn’t dare speak when she entered the CEO’s office, keeping her head low, looking all pitiful and wronged.
Jasper had a visible bruise on his face, a red mark at the corner of his mouth. His expression was icy, and he didn’t say a word.

Jasper still didn’t say a word. Instead, Naomi panicked a little and hurriedly tried to explain, “Rosaline, well…
“You don’t need to speak for him.” I cut Naomi off but deliberately softened my tone. “Naomi, go home. and rest. You just got discharged. Your health comes first. I have a few words to say to Jasper alone.”
Naomi clearly still wanted to say something but was intimidated by my cold expression. She timidly responded with an “okay” and turned to walk out the door.
I frowned, both helpless and angry, and gave Jasper a sharp look before striding over and scolding loudly, “Jasper, what’s wrong with you?! You’re the Best Actor now. You should know your status. How could you do something like this? Do you know how much damage this could cause the company if not handled properly? I know you did it for Naomi, but you should still care about your public image! You’re the Best Actor!”
I was furious, like hating iron for not becoming steel. Jasper was always calm and composed. Why was he so impulsive this time?
“Rosaline, I … “Jasper tried to explain with a cold face.
Iwaved my hand and cut him off. “Enough. Go to the hospital and get your face checked. I’ll find a way to
handle this.”
Because of Jasper’s incident, he received a lot of negative press. I had been coordinating with the PR department to resolve it, but the heat around the issue kept growing, as if someone was deliberately targeting my Starplay Entertainment. This forced me to work non–stop until evening, only getting off when it was already dark.
When I returned to New Moon City, I noticed the living room lights were off, and it was completely empty. I couldn’t help but wonder–had Caden not come back yet?
As I walked toward the living room and turned on the lights, I heard a clattering noise coming from the kitchen.
I thought it was Willa cooking. “Willa, has Caden come back?”
I asked while changing into slippers, but there was no response from the kitchen.
Curious, I walked closer and saw Caden in a crisp shirt and dress pants, cooking in the kitchen.
“Why are you cooking? What’s got the mighty Mr. Holbrook in such a leisurely mood today?”
Staring at the tall figure in front of me, I was momentarily stunned, then smiled softly.
Cader turned his head, his deep eyes falling on my face as he said calmly, “I know you had a rough day, so I prepared a candlelight dinner for you.”
“How do you know me so well, even cooking for me?” Seeing Caden personally make dinner for me, my heart warmed uncontrollably.
I walked over and wrapped my arms around his waist from behind, pressing my cheek against his back, feeling the lingering warmth of his body.

“Why aren’t you wearing an apron while cooking? The smell of oil and smoke will stick to your clothes.” I noticed Caden wasn’t wearing an apron, so I took the one hanging behind the door and tied it on him. myself.
Caden stretched out his hand and, taking advantage of the moment, pulled me into his arms.
He lowered his head slightly and kissed my lips, tender and lingering.
“Mmph…” The sudden kiss left me dazed for a moment.
He is cooking in the kitchen and still thinking about taking advantage of me!
I instinctively tried to push him away. “Let go of me…
But before I could finish, Caden’s tongue slipped into my mouth, sealing my lips.
As our lips and teeth tangled, the scent of his masculine presence filled the space between us.
A strange sensation, like an electric current, tingled and spread through every cell in my body.
His large hand gripped my slender waist.
The overwhelming kisses rained down on me, and I instinctively leaned back against the stove.
The two of us embraced and kissed sweetly in the kitchen, with the air filled with a romantic atmosphere.
“Wait! What if Willa comes in later?” I suddenly remembered and got worried our intimacy might be interrupted. “Let go of me first.”
Caden leaned in and adjusted his position, speaking slowly, “She won’t. I already asked her to leave early.”
Hearing that, my face flushed slightly. So Caden had planned this all along.
There was still soup cooking on the stove. I took a serious sniff and noticed a strange smell in the air, Realizing suddenly that something was wrong, I said, “Wait, Caden, something’s burning. Do you smell it?”
We had been so caught up in kissing that he forgot to turn off the stove.
Caden quickly let go of me and switched off the burner. “This is the chicken soup I simmered all day, just to help you replenish your energy and blood.”
Looking at the scorched pot, Caden frowned deeply.

I noticed his disappointment and comforted him considerately, saying, “It’s okay. The fact that you made a candlelight dinner for me yourself is already very precious. Besides, even if there’s no chicken soup, there’s still steak.”
I glanced at the steak marinating on the plate. “Steak is my favorite.”
Caden affectionately ruffled my hair and said seriously and deeply, “As long as you’re happy. I prepared this surprise today just to make you happy. I hope your life can be as joyful as it is now every day.”
“I’m already happy just being by your side,” I said gently “Let me help you. Let’s make it together.”
Being able to cook with the person you love and have a candlelight dinner together–no matter how sad something is, it can pass.
We started bustling around in the kitchen together. Caden grilled the steak while I handed him the seasonings. When I was cooking, he chopped vegetables by my side. We coordinated perfectly.
“The steak smells so good. Mr. Holbrook, your cooking skills are pretty impressive,” I joked while holding the plate.
Then we walked into the dining room, and the scene before me gave me another big surprise.
On the dining table, candles flickered. A vase held a few roses, and beside it lay a bouquet of 99 roses. The glassware was filled with decanted red wine.
Turns out Caden had already set up the dining room in advance.
“Caden, you worked hard today,” I said, touched. “I really like the roses.”
A faint smile appeared on Caden’s chiseled face as he reached out to hold my hand. “If you’re happy, then I’m not tired. After dinner, I have another surprise for you.”
“What is it? Tell me now, and I’ll pretend not to know later,” I said curiously. The candlelight dinner surprise was already moving enough. I couldn’t imagine what would come next.
Caden smiled mysteriously and hooked his finger slightly, refusing to tell me.
Alright then, if the surprise was revealed in advance, it lost its intended effect.
I would just wait and see.
During dinner, under the glow of delicate candlelight, raised my glass of red wine and clinked it with Caden’s. I smiled sincerely and said, “Caden, thank you so much for today. I’m really happy.”
Caden held the stem of the wine glass and took a light sip. “Let’s get married sooner. If you’re with me, you won’t have so many worries.”
My face grew warm as I heard that. Although Caden had already proposed and we were about to hold our engagement ceremony, hearing those words again still moved me deeply.
Thinking back, along the way, Caden and I had gone through so many hardships and trials before finally ending up together.

“Let’s eat first. The steak is your favorite flavor,” Caden hid gently, his deep gaze fixed on me.
Caden and I raised our wine glasses and clinked them in the air. The entire room was filled with a romantic atmosphere.
With deep eyes, Caden looked at me and said softly, “Come on, I’ll take you to the next surprise.”
He stood up, grabbed my arm, and walked toward the door.
The surprise was actually outside. What kind of surprise could it be? It made me even more curious.
“It’s so late. Where are we going?” I followed Caden, curiously probing about where we were headed next.
Holding my hand, Caden said in a low voice, “It’s a very beautiful place. You’ll definitely like it.”
“Really?” I smiled faintly.
Why does he have to be so mysterious?
Caden led me to the garage and gentlemanly opened the car door for me. “Get in, Wifey.”
Wifey…
That kind of address was just too ambiguous.
I pretended to be angry and glared at Caden playfully. “Who’s your wifey? You’re so shameless!”
Caden raised an eyebrow and leaned close to my ear, speaking in a low, husky voice, “Who else could it be but you? Hmm?”
His magnetic voice was like a cello, deep and pleasant.
And with that deliberate rising tone at the end–it was both charming and seductive.
I took a deep breath and changed the subject. “Alright, where exactly are you taking me? Hurry up and drive.”
Caden nodded and started the car.
Sitting in the passenger seat, I looked at the night scenery outside. It seemed we were getting farther from the city center. The road felt familiar, but I couldn’t quite recall where it led.
The sight of the ocean suddenly brought back a flood of memories. “Are you taking me to the beach?” I asked.
The beach was where Caden had proposed to me. It was where we made our promise to stay by each other’s side.
Thinking back to those beautiful moments filled my heart with sweetness.
I turned my head and met the deep gaze of the man beside me. Pressing my lips together, I said, “No wonder you said you had a surprise for me.”
“Do you like it?” Caden looked down at me, his eyes full of tenderness.

Caden’s POV:
After the proposal, we were both busy with work and rarely came to this beach anymore.
After getting out of the car, Rosaline looked up and spread her arms, feeling the cool sea breeze.
As the evening breeze gently blew, my mood also relaxed.

Looking at Rosaline’s calm expression, I knew I made the right choice bringing her here. The beach could ease her stress.
“How is it? All your work troubles are gone, right?” I took off my jacket and draped it over Rosaline. “It’s chilly by the sea. Don’t catch a cold.”
Rosaline smiled softly and sighed. “As expected, only you understand me best.”
Just as we were sweetly chatting, we suddenly heard faint cries for help.
“Caden, did you hear that? It sounded like someone’s calling for help.” Rosaline frowned, trying to determine the direction of the sound. “Over there. Let’s go check it out.”
I immediately rushed to the shore with Rosaline.
We both saw, not far out in the sea, an elderly werewolf lady desperately shouting for help.
The old woman’s strength was fading. Rosaline looked at me anxiously as she said, “She seems to be running out of energy.”
This beach wasn’t a tourist spot, and there were no lifeguard areas nearby. In her urgency, Rosaline jumped into the sea alone and swam toward the old woman.
Seeing her dive in, I also took off my jacket and plunged into the water, swimming after her toward the old
woman.
The old woman no longer had the strength to cry out. By the time we got close, she had already fainted and was about to sink.
Rosaline quickly held her. “Wake up! Ma’am, Ma’am….
The old woman’s eyes remained shut, with no response
“Let’s get her to shore first,” I said calmly, and together with Rosaline, we grabbed the old woman’s arms and swam back.
Having floated in the water too long, the old woman’s body was icy cold and her lips pale.
Rosaline laid her on the sand, trying to wake her. “Ma’am, wake up. You’re safe now….
But the old woman didn’t respond at all.
“Caden, can your body still hold up?” Rosaline looked at me.

Then Rosaline tried pressing the philtrum of the old woman, but after three or four attempts, there was still no response. “I’ll perform CPR on her. It’ll be faster that way”
In rescue efforts, every second counts. Rosaline began rhythmically pressing on the old woman’s chest, trying to get her to expel the seawater in her stomach.
“Ma’am… Ma’am… “I tried calling out by her car.
Unfortunately, our rescue attempts weren’t successful. In utter desperation, Rosaline suddenly slapped me. anxiously. “I completely forgot in the panic! Caden, call emergency services. We have to get her to a hospital.”
We had been so focused on saving her that we forgot to call an ambulance.
I immediately dialed 911. While we waited for the ambulance, Rosaline remained by the old woman’s side, performing CPR every few minutes.
Only when we heard the siren did Rosaline finally breathe a sigh of relief.
“Where’s the patient?” Several werewolf nurses rushed out of the ambulance. “What’s the situation with the patient?”
Rosaline slowly said, “Over here. She’s an elderly woman who fell into the sea and lost consciousness. performed CPR on her, but she hasn’t woken up.”
She briefly explained the situation, and the nurses nodded, carefully placing the old woman on a stretcher.
“We’ll drive and follow you.” I drove right behind the ambulance, accompanying the old woman to the hospital.
The werewolf doctor, having received notification, was already waiting at the hospital’s entrance. As soon as he saw the stretcher, he brought over a hospital bed. “Make way! We have a patient in critical condition.”
Rosaline and I watched as the old woman was taken into the emergency room, and only then did we feel at
ease.
From a candlelight dinner to rescuing someone by the sea, the two of us had been busy all night. When we got home, it was already past midnight, yet Rosaline was unusually alert. Clearly, the incident with the old woman had shaken her.
“Caden, I feel that life is so fragile.” Rosaline sat by the bay window, recalling everything that had just happened.
Rosaline had always been strong, rarely showing sadness like this.
I walked over to her, reached out, and wrapped my arm around her, asking with concern, “What’s wrong?”
a
Rosaline leaned against my chest, let out a long breath, and smiled faintly. “It’s nothing.”
“Let’s call Grandpa. With the time difference, it should be daytime over there. You can tell him the date of the engagement ceremony too.”
figured Rosaline was probably missing her grandpa.

Hearing my voice, Grandpa was very happy. “Yes, it’s noon. I just got back from going out. I’ll probably stay here in Dumeirah for a few more days.”
Knowing Grandpa was having fun, I felt relieved.
“Grandpa, Caden and I have set our engagement ceremony for next weekend. When will you be back?” I brought up the main topic.
On the most important day of my life, the former Alpha of the Shadow Pack must be present.
Grandpa said happily, “I’ll return to Rivemon in a few days. How could I miss my granddaughter’s engagement ceremony? I’ve prepared a gift for you and Caden. You two will definitely like it…”
“Really?” My heart warmed at his words,
Since I was little, Grandpa had spoiled me endlessly, as if he wanted to pluck the stars from the sky for me,
As for the gift, I didn’t really care. As long as I could see Grandpa and receive his blessing, I’d be happy.
“It’s already late over there, right? Get some rest.” Grandpa’s kind voice came through the call.
“Okay.” I nodded.
After hanging up, my thoughts wandered.
In my memory, it has always been just Grandpa. I’ve never seen my parents.
Grandpa only told me that my parents died in an accident back then.
But even if they did, shouldn’t I at least have some memory of them?
Why don’t I remember anything at all?
Only occasionally do fragments of memories flash through my mind.
I once tried hard to remember what those fragments were. I tried to piece them together, but I could never recall them clearly.
And also, who exactly is Sal?
What is the relationship between Hughie and Sal?
Why does Hughie always avoid the question whenever I mention Sal, as if he’s hiding many things from me, not wanting to tell me?

“Rosaline, what’s wrong?” After I finished the call and fell into deep thought, Caden asked with concern.
I came back to my senses and looked up, meeting Caden’s deep, caring gaze, which warmed my heart.”
“Nothing. It’s already late. Let’s get some rest,” I said.
Just as I finished speaking, Caden suddenly scooped me up.
“What are you doing?” I exclaimed as my whole body was lifted into the air.
“Didn’t you say it’s time to rest?” Caden lowered his head and looked at me with a half–smile.
He carried me directly into his room and carefully placed me on the king–size bed in the center.
“I want to go back to my room,” I protested.
I’m not sharing a bed with this man.
“Don’t move.” Caden firmly held me down as I tried to get up, wrapping his arms tightly around my waist, restraining me.
We were so close, the position extremely intimate, making me hold my breath.
“Don’t be afraid, I just want to hug you,” Caden said in a low, deep voice, as if he knew what I was worried about. “I said I’d respect you.”
With that promise, I finally felt at ease.
The two of us slept in each other’s arms, peacefully through the night.
The next morning, I woke up early, still worried about the situation with Jasper and Naomi.
After breakfast, Theaded straight to Starplay Entertainment.
On the way. I scrolled through my phone–topics about Jasper were still trending high, filled with negative

Trubbed my forehead in frustration. If this kept up, it might affect the release of The Call of the Wild.

I let out a deep breath, turning my head to the side to calm myself. After a long moment, Jasper finally asked, “Are you really going to get engaged to Caden?”
Seriously? With everything going on, he’s still thinking about that!
Sometimes I really didn’t know what to do with Jasper. had been turning him down from the start. Why was he still so persistent?
“Yes, I’m getting engaged to him. Next weekend.”
Upon hearing this, Jasper lowered his eyes, dimness washing over
them.
Seeing him like this, I couldn’t help but sigh. I tried to gently persuade him. “Jasper, I’ve told you so many times–I like Caden, and he likes me too. Why keep wasting your time on me? It’d be better to cherish the person right in front of you. Stop thinking about me.”

I froze–not because of what Jasper said, but because my Alpha sense picked up someone outside the slightly ajar door. Naomi was standing there.
She must have heard everything Jasper said.
Naomi didn’t come in. She paused for a bit, then quietly walked away.
Poor girl. This is truly a case of unrequited love.
I found myself speechless for a moment.
In the end, I could only let it go and said seriously to Jasper, “Since that’s the case, I shouldn’t meddle in your personal affairs. But I hope, when you’re acting on impulse, you’ll still think of the company. After all, it’s not just about you anymore. Jasper, I want to see you taking your work seriously again–within three days.”
Jasper didn’t speak but finally nodded solemnly. “Alright. I understand. I’ll be more careful.”
After many twists and turns, the crew of The Call of the Wild finally wrapped filming on schedule, thanks to the dedication of the directors and cast.
To reward everyone for their hard work, I booked a banquet hall at a hotel and invited the entire crew to a
wrap party.
Raising my glass and standing up, I looked around with a smile. “You’ve all worked so hard these past weeks, and your dedication to the film has really shown I believe we’ll achieve great results at the film festival this time!”
Everyone cheered and raised their glasses, the room full of laughter and joy. Suddenly, a young werewolf man dressed in black with white gloves–looking very formal, even a bit intimidating–walked in holding a box. The blue velvet satin wrapping gave it an upscale appearance.
“Excuse me, who is Ms. Rosaline Sinclair?”
Hearing the voice, I stood up in confusion and stepped out from the table. “I am.”
The werewolf man gave a polite nod and smiled as he handed me the box. “Hello, a gentleman asked us to deliver this to you. He insisted it be given in person. If there are no objections, please sign here.”
I froze for a moment, confused, as I took the box.

Finished.
A few of my close friends nearby had already started teasing. Everyone knew Caden and I were about to get engaged, so they assumed the gift was from him.
“Rosaline, Mr. Holbrook sure is well–informed! The movie just wrapped, and he already sent you a gift.”
“Yeah, you two are so sweet together! Don’t forget to send us invitations for the engagement ceremony!”
As the teasing continued, I looked down at the box in my hands and slowly opened it–only to find an exquisite diamond necklace inside.
I’d seen this necklace in a magazine before. It was a limited–edition, handcrafted piece from Fostrau. Even the diamonds and platinum chain were hand–cut. It was extremely expensive.
Aside from Caden, I couldn’t think of anyone else who would give me something this valuable.
A smile tugged at the corners of my lips as I gently closed the box and tucked it away.
Didn’t he just give me a necklace a few days ago? And now another one so soon?
By the time I got back to the villa, it was nearly 10 p.m. As I stepped inside, I saw Caden sitting on the sofà reading. He looked up when he heard the door, set his magazine aside, and sat up straight. “Why are you back so late? You didn’t even tell me. I would’ve come to pick you up.”
“It’s fine!” I smiled and shook my head.
I was in a good mood, so I wrapped my arms around his neck. “I didn’t drink much tonight, just caught a ride back with a colleague … Oh, right. Why didn’t you tell me you were spending so much money on a gift today? I wasn’t prepared at all!”
At first, Caden was clearly enjoying my affectionate teasing, but when he heard what I said, he paused— looking confused. “What gift? What are you talking about?”
I blinked, puzzled by his reaction.
Wait. Could it be that the necklace wasn’t from him?
Still confused, I took the jewelry box from my bag and handed it to him. “This. I saw this necklace in a magazine. It’s really expensive. Someone delivered it straight to the hotel where we were holding the wrap party. I thought it was from you.”
Caden looked at the necklace in the box, his expression darkening as his confusion deepened:
“It wasn’t me,” he said, shaking his head. His expression didn’t look good.
frowned and set the jewelry box aside. “Then forget it. It doesn’t matter.”
I knew all too well where Caden’s soft spots were. I said that partly to reassure him.
And besides–I really don’t need gifts from someone I can’t even identify.
