Chapter 102
“I don’t know.” Valerie anxiously ran her hands through her hair, her eyes full of terror, her body trembling uncontrollably.
Cheryl hugged her and patted her back comfortingly. “Don’t be afraid. He can’t find you here. Just don’t go out these days.” Just then, Luna came out of the bathroom.
Valerie’s eyes instantly turned vicious. She broke free from Cheryl’s hold and kicked Luna to the ground. “It’s all your fault! All your fault!”
Luna suddenly burst into tears but dared not make a sound when met with Valerie’s murderous glare.
Cheryl hurriedly pulled Valerie away. “Don’t hit her! The neighborhood committee inspects daily! If they find injuries on her, you’ll get detained!”
Valerie stopped attacking, glaring fiercely at Luna. “Don’t let me see you again. Get out!”
Luna got up, limped to her bedroom. Before, she’d hide in an empty cupboard when scolded, but there was no empty cupboard here, so she could only hide on the balcony.
Audrey accompanied Amelia to eat out before returning home.
In the living room, Yann and Calvin were discussing something. Seeing them come back, Calvin stood up.
“I’ll handle it now.” Calvin started to leave but was called back by Amelia. “Come with me for a moment.”
Calvin didn’t understand but greeted Audrey and followed Amelia to the guest room.
Audrey changed slippers and put the packed snacks on the coffee table.
Yann looked a bit sickly. On the coffee table sat a half cup of lemon–infused coffee and a few folders. He was working even while sick.
“If you have a cold, don’t drink coffee.” Audrey took the cup away. “Have you eaten yet?”
Yann rubbed his stomach, furrowing his dark brows before saying, “No.”
“I’ll cook you some noodles.”
She went to the kitchen, and Yann followed. The kitchen wasn’t small, but with Yann standing there, it felt cramped and suffocating.
Audrey tried hard to empty her mind, not thinking about the crazy things he did when he was delirious.

“How so?” Yann’s nasal voice was heavy.
When he was sick, his usual sharp aura vanished. His short hair hadn’t been styled with wax–soft strands fell over his forehead, with two tufts sticking up on top. He actually looked kind of cute.
Audrey’s tense mood gradually eased. She told about running into Clayton today. Just then, the water boiled, so she threw in some noodles and picked up her forks to stir.
“SR has never been given away for free before. If this is a mistake, I’ll have to return it.”
“If I gave it to you, would you accept it?”
Audrey looked back and met the man’s deep brows and eyes.

He casually ran his hand through his hair, lazy, with a little fondness flickering in his eyes.

Feeling deceived, Amelia stormed over, only to see the two of them standing hand in hand by the stove. A handsome man and a beautiful woman–just their backs looked like a perfect match.
Yann gestured with his fork, and Audrey added some greens to the pot–without a word, their coordination was seamless.
Amelia was about to speak, but Calvin covered

He quickly let go, then pointed inside at the two and gave a thumbs–up as if to say they were a couple.
The noodles were ready to serve, and Yann finally let go of her hand.
Amelia and Calvin quickly headed to the dining room. Amelia thought Yann really was hopeless. She thought, ‘He couldn’t handle a man or a woman.‘
Yann brought out the noodles; Audrey followed with a fork, sensing Amelia’s gaze was off.
Amelia said, “Yann, I plan to introduce Audrey to someone.”
“No,” Yann warned with his eyes.
Amelia ignored him and flashed Audrey a warm smile. “Audrey, I have an outstanding young man to introduce to you. You’ll definitely like him.”
Then she looked at Yann. “Yann, you can’t interfere with Audrey’s pursuit of happiness just because you don’t want to get married yourself! She’s so young.”

“Then go ahead and get married.”
Yann lowered his eyes, stirring the noodles. “I’m pursuing the right person now.” His tone carried a hint of grievance.

Audrey left the villa and walked along the jogging path she took yesterday. The villas were spaced far apart, with vast green spaces that lifted her spirits.
Not far off, one villa had its lights on. The property manager was holding a notebook, talking with some people at the door.
“Are you an owner here?” Someone noticed Audrey approaching and greeted her.
