Alexa was full of anger but didn’t go home to complain. Wyatt had always been good to her. She wanted to give him another chance; if she came home with a sour face, her dad would definitely cause trouble for him.
So she went shopping to clear her mind and bought two dresses she normally wouldn’t allow herself. At the end, she decided to buy only one four figure dress.
Seeing Audrey made Alexa burn with jealousy. When she saw the staff holding the clothes Audrey didn’t even dare try, her anger hit its peak.
“Audrey! You won’t find these brands online. I advise you to give up early. If you snag and ruin them, you won’t be able to pay for it!”
The staff’s expression subtly changed. With online shopping so common, many people tried clothes in stores, took pictures, then found the same ones online. Some even bought clothes in stores but didn’t remove tags and returned them after events.
They thought they were serving a big client, but after Alexa’s words, doubts formed in the staff’s mind. Audrey’s total outfit wasn’t even as expensive as one piece in the store. Could she really afford it?
Audrey smiled lightly, “You have a strong heart! No matter how long the detention official is sentenced, she won’t ask if the bastard who humiliated your daughter is caught, but she has time to care about what clothes others buy.”
Alexa’s face instantly turned pale. She gritted her teeth and glared fiercely at Audrey.
“You’re just sour grapes because Clayton rejected you! He’s an excellent lawyer and will surely help his niece get justice!”
Audrey wasn’t angry at all. She took a set of clothes from the staff and headed to the fitting room, looking at Alexa. “Clayton doesn’t even care about his own father. You really expect him to care about your daughter?”
Alexa’s lips turned white this time, and she swayed unsteadily.
Clayton didn’t care about his own dad for the sake of the case. Would he really fight for Riley?
Audrey came out of the fitting room wearing the clothes. Alexa hadn’t left yet, her gaze was icy and fixed on her.
Her favorite outfit, which she had to give up because of the price, was now on Audrey.
What made her even more unbearable was that Audrey looked better in it than she did… even better than the model! Even the staff waiting outside brightened their eyes.
“This outfit looks tailor–made for you! Powerful but not showy, elegant but not flashy!” The staff gave all the compliments they had.
She was the best–looking person they’d seen wearing that outfit.
Audrey looked at herself in the mirror. Alexa followed behind like a puppet. Audrey turned and looked at the staff, “I’ll try on another set.”
She gave a condescending look at Alexa’s jealous, ugly expression, then whispered so only Alexa could hear,
“Riley’s just a kid. How could she think of such a vicious way to scheme against others?”
Alexa felt a chill run down her spine. Just as Audrey was about to close the door, Alexa rushed forward, “Do you know something?”
Audrey pried Alexa’s hand off the door handle one by one, smirked, and shut the fitting room door.
Alexa thought about how Riley treated her and Valerie’s sudden visit. Her head felt like it’d been struck by lightning. She turned and left.
“Miss! You haven’t paid yet!” The sales assistant who served her called out, chasing after her to the store entrance.
Only then did Alexa realize she was still wearing the store’s clothes. She hurried back to the fitting room to change into her own.

Just a wall apart, a harsh warning came, “Audrey! If you dare lie to me, I won’t forgive you!”
Alexa was both angry and anxious, so she moved quickly, tossing the clothes to the assistant and stepping out fast. The more she tried to leave, the
harder it became.
“Miss, the seam on this skirt has come undone,” the sales assistant stopped her again.
Audrey came out, having changed into a higher–end piece from the same collection as Alexa’s.
The woman’s slim waist and perfect figure turned an everyday outfit into something that felt like a formal gown.
“This one suits you too. Even celebrities wouldn’t look better…” Two sales assistants: one trying hard to flatter her customer, the other cautiously reminding about compensation.
Amelia sat calmly in the lounge, sipping coffee, watching how Audrey handled the situation.
Not humble, nor arrogant; she wore the expensive clothes confidently without feeling awkward. Calm and steady under provocation, hitting back at the weak points–Amelia grew even more pleased with this daughter–in–law.
When Alexa paid, she kept staring at Audrey, waiting to see her mess up.
Unexpectedly, after Audrey checked herself in the mirror, she handed the card to the cashier and said, “I’ll take both.”
“Audrey! Where did you get the money?” Alexa was shocked.
After marrying Clayton, they kept finances separate. Audrey even took a loan to buy a small apartment herself. Her salary barely covered daily expenses, so she couldn’t afford such expensive clothes.
Audrey sneered, “Mind your own business.”
“I suspect your money’s from shady sources!”
“Whoever accuses must prove it,” Audrey said calmly. “Show evidence, or it’s slander.”
Alexa’s face went pale and then flushed. Clenching her fists, she said, “Don’t think you can use some fancy terms you learned from Clayton to intimidate me! You have no family background. Unless you’re secretly stealing Clayton’s money, there’s no way you’re this arrogant!”
Right in front of Alexa, Audrey dialed Wyatt’s number.
“Wyatt, if you can’t control your brother or your wife, don’t blame me for being rude.”
Before Wyatt could react, Audrey hung up and turned away.
Alexa stood frozen, not understanding how Audrey dared speak to Wyatt that way.
Soon, Wyatt’s call came through. “Where are you?”
Hearing his harsh tone, Alexa’s thought of forgiving him disappeared completely. She snapped, “Just mind your daughter. My business is none of your
concern!”
“You ran into Audrey? She gave you trouble?” Wyatt asked coldly.
“What? You protect Valerie and now Audrey too? Do you always take sides against me just because I dislike someone?” Alexa got angry.
After paying, she snatched the shopping bag from the assistant and stormed out.
Over there, the cashier handed the card back to Audrey, saying, “That lady already paid.”
