A glass of water splashed across Valerie’s face. “Too loud.” Audrey set down her cup.
Valerie’s eyes nearly popped out of her head. She wanted to make a scene, but Cheryl’s phone call came through, so she left reluctantly.
“So that’s Clayton’s benefactor?” Brooke had been watching Valerie the whole time. She waited until Valerie got into a taxi before asking
“Yeah.” Audrey slowly poured herself another cup of water.
“She…” Brooke touched her nose hesitantly. “Her relationship with Clayton isn’t as good as she claims, is it?”
Audrey tilted her head and looked at Brooke, sensing there was more behind her words.
Brooke pulled her chair closer to Audrey and whispered, “I saw her with a male escort last night.” She winked meaningfully.

When the secretary saw that Brooke wasn’t reacting like usual, she pinched the skin between her thumb and finger hard and said pitifully, “I was just worried you might misunderstand. I’m really just an nedinary secretary.”

“Then you should be thanking me. Why are you giding me dirty looks?” Brooke smirked.
The secretary looked confused, clearly puzzled that Brooke wasn’t following her usual script today.
Brooke pulled out her phone and scrolled for a while. When she looked up, she seemed surprised to see the secretary still there. “Why are you still here? Doesn’t the company have work for you to do?”
The secretary secretly pinched the inside of her arm, and her eyes immediately filled with tears. “Mrs. Gomez, if you’re here to shit on me, don’t waste your time.
“It takes two people to screw things up, so instead of coming for me, maybe you should work on improving yourself.”
Brooke raised an eyebrow. “Two people screwing? So who were you screwing with?”
“I-I meant two people to mess up a situation.”
Brooke grinned. “That’s what I meant too. What kind of mess were you referring to?”
The secretary bit her lip in frustration. When she heard footsteps approaching, she raised her voice slightly. “Mrs. Gomez, you’re really misunderstanding Mr. Gomez and I don’t have the kind of dirty relationship you’re thinking of”
Before she finished speaking, Miguel appeared at the conference room doorway. When he saw Brooke inside, his brow furrowed.
Before he could say anything, Brooke stood up with a smile. “Miguel! I was shopping nearby and brought you some dessert. Don’t work too hard, you need to take care of yourself,”
Miguel looked confused
Brooke linked her arm through his and glanced at the young secretary. “The company’s new secretary is pretty cute!

Hope flashed in the secretary’s eyes. She broke free from the assistant and ran up to Miguel, forcing a hopeful smile onto her face. “Mr. Gomez?”
